While I really like the way Florida is playing I don’t think they are unbeatable right now. They are beating the teams they should be by a ton right now, but since their loss to Ole Miss they’ve played Arkansas, LSU, Kentucky, Georgia, Vandy, and South Carolina. Not exactly the toughest teams to play but none the less they have beaten the shit out of all of those teams.

I just don’t know wanna hear the SEC talk about the Big 12 defenses when SEC teams have given up a good bit of points this year (LSU playing Troy yesterday anyone?, Sou Car giving up 56 with supposedly the 3rd best defense in the country?

and these 2 are just what happened yesterday, not to mention UGA sucking when actually playing good teams) Florida is probably has the best shot at beating a Big 12 because their speed matches up very well but would they be able to execute in a lot of one on one situations with them being spread out by a damn good team? I don’t know, but you bet your ass I’d love to find out

Haha, you’re right. I didn’t mean to sound quite so boasty, because I think TT has a hell of a team this year. I just find it intriguing how Florida is firing on so many cylinders right now.

They can run. They can pass. They play amay-zing defense. They play amay-zing special teams. I know I’m probably bias because I’m a life-long fan, and do realize the SEC is down this year, but I think they’re really out to prove something.

Plus, I think I heard a stat one time that there’s 6 guys on Florida’s offense that runs under a 4.4, and 5 on defense that run under a 4.4 as well.

Now THAT’S scary.[/quote]

You aint kiddin bout Floridas speed, no doubt they have PLENTY of it! I bet Tech beats OU this coming week, but if OU wins could you imagine seeing OU vs UF? Both of those teams have been putting up RIDICULOUS numbers!

While I do think Oklahoma would ring up 20-30 on Florida, I think TT has the best chance to match up man-to-man with Florida’s speed and explosiveness. Oklahoma’s got a big passing game, but a concept that’s often neglected in the Big XII is that there’s actually more to offense than throwing 50+ times a game.

A good defense will compensate, and I think that’d be a big determining factor with OU. Again, I will admit that TOP TO BOTTOM the Big XII is the best conference in the nation this year, but if anyone tries to convince me the conference is known for its defensive splendor has been living under a rock for the last 5 or 6 years.

But yeah, I think TT beats OU… 55-45.

If Clemson wins out, I think they definitely deserve to go to a bowl. They will be 7-5 and ending the season on a win streak. While I think the number of bowl games we have now is ridiculous, if 6-6 teams are going, then a 7-5 team that is going in a postiive direction should be in a bowl game as well.

Just be happy that you’re rid of the dead weight and can move to find a coach that can win more than 9 games in a season. Bowden was a great recruiter, but God almighty that man couldn’t coach. There are several coaches out there that would be counting their ACC championship rings with the talent Clemson has had the last few years.

Man you nailed that one right on the head, TRUST ME, Christmas came early this year on October 13th. Having 2 of those “7” wins would be against two I-AA teams(SC State and The Citadel) thats my biggest problem with not thinking we should go to a bowl(its bad enough when a team plays one I-AA, but two is unacceptable)

I have to disagree with your assessment of that stretch of their schedule. At the time they played those teams, that stretch included teams ranked 4, 6, and 25. Perhaps you will argue that those teams were overrated.

I wouldn’t disagree completely, but understand that part of the reason those teams look overrated is because Florida routed them so completely. Thus part of the claim of “overrated” is a chicken or the egg question.

Also note that these were 6 conference games in a row. No Citadel in the middle of it (like they have coming up next week  ). Other than Texas, I don’t think any team in the nation has had a stretch that rough by the numbers alone.

Most importantly, none of the games were close at all. Florida completely dominated each of those teams in all facets of the game. The average score was 50-10. There are very few teams in the nation that shouldn’t just run and hide if they get paired up with Florida right now.

It was an odd situation with Bowden - he seemed guaranteed to give 8 win seasons, but still no more. There are many programs that would love regular 8 win seasons (including some other program in the same state), but to know that there is nothing beyond that is somewhat depressing.

Rivalry week is here. I can’t wait to get revenge on the Zoobies!!!

That won’t be a problem.

GO GATORS!!!

Like I predicted in the beginning of the season…Gators will go to the BCS game. I just thought it would be Gators vs. USC. That doesn’t look likely, but hey, I’m not picky! Bring on Texas Tech, Oklahoma or Texas!

The winner of tu-Norman/Texas Tech should have the inside track to the Championship game.

For Tech to get there they will have defeated 5 ranked teams in 6 consecutive games with 3 of those teams being in the top 10.

Tech wins tomorrow, and there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind who the #1 team should be.

Tech will not be a good match up for the Gators. UF needs a running team to look like a strong defensive club. Their speed will be completely neutralized by Harrell’s mobility.

This is shaping up to be the Fall of a lifetime. My Raiders are riding high, and my son’s HS team will be in the state quarter finals next week.

I really, really hope that it ends up being TT vs. UF. Alabama doesn’t match up well against any Big XII team, because they try to play big, physical smash-mouth ball. That may work against some lesser SEC teams, but not the Big XII’s elite.

As far as the UF - TTU matchup is concerned, I’m going to have to disagree. Florida, if I’m not mistaken, has one of the nation’s Top-10 defenses. Not only that, but they have [easily] the best inside linebacker in the country, Brandon Spikes. If Harrell really is that mobile (I don’t honestly know,) we can set him on a soft-zone spy all day. Bam - Scrambling contained. They have to defensive backs to compensate for the spied linebacker, especially if we’re only putting three down lineman on the field.

The matchup I look at is TT’s defense vs. UF’s offense. There’s no way it’ll be contained. I have gained a lot of respect for TT in the last few weeks, but there’s no way they can match up with that speed.

Also - special teams. This is UF’s most underrated aspect. I’m pretty sure they have 5 or 6 blocked punts in the last month, and one of the most feared kick/punt returners in the nation with Brandon James.

Anywy, I think we all want to see TT vs. UF because it would be an extremely kick-ass game, so let’s hope for the best.

I certainly hope Florida puts a spy on Harrell. He doesn’t run with the ball. He is just almost impossible to sack. Extremely elusive in the pocket, and an OL in front of him averaging 320+ per guy. Harrell has been sacked only 5 times this season.

Having great corners is meaningless in defensing the Raiders. They send out 7 receivers.Unless you have 5 more excellent corner backs to put in the game, someone is going to be open.

Plus, tech is averaging over 100 yards per game on the ground. If you put everyone into coverage, the running backs will pick you apart.

That’s what they said about the tu game, too. The RR’s don’t have to shut down the Gators for the entire game. If they can hold the Gators to a field goal on 2-3 drives, that will be the difference in the game.

You aren’t going to shut Tech down. The odds are much better that Tech’s defense will shut down Tebow & Co. than it is for FLorida to stop Tech.

Tech rarely punts. They probably go for it on 4th down more often than all the teams in the SEC combined.

It could be a problem on field goals, though. That would be Techs glaring weak point, seeing as how our kicker was given the job based on him winning a halftime contest.

I just want Tech to get to the NC game. I don’t care if we play the Hoosiers, or the Wolverines, or the Gators, or Ball State. Getting there is the mission.

I think it is the Big 12’s year this year. Without a doubt, four of the Big-12 South’s 6 teams makes that division the toughest gauntlet to run that I can remember in any conference in several years.

SEC is tough, but pales in comparison. The winner tomorrow night will be the national champions.

EDIT: FACTUAL ACCURACY.

Better look out for those Gators if TT makes it to the BCS game against them.

It’ll be on, and I think TT will get shut down more times than not!

Like I said, I don’t think it really matters who the Red Raiders play - if they make it to the NC game. Even if they beat tu-Norman and Baylor (huge let-down potential), they still have to play No. 13 Mizzou.

By the time Tech gets to the BCS game, it will be old-hat, beating 5 ranked teams in 6 games. Florida, Alabama, USC - it won’t matter to the Raiders.

If anything, the Gators need to be looking out for the Raiders.

Florida is not going to stop Tech. All they can do is try and hold on.

Big XII, top to bottom, definitely spanks the SEC this year. This would be the first year in recent seasons. I still think Oklahoma has a great chance of beating TT tomorrow, though. All of Tech’s big wins have come in Lubbock.

What a great college season.

Okalahoma with the upset tomorrow night!

I can’t go either. Mainly because the State of Oklahoma and I have an agreement: I won’t cross their state line, and they won’t throw me in jail.

Haha nice rj.

At least once a week I’ll be walking past the stadium and see/hear them out on the practice field…with the little old man security guard making sure no one stops for too long to peek through the bushes lol.
