im a die hard OSU fan and even I enjoyed that michigan win, its always great to see such a class guy like Lloyd Carr go out with a win.
Tenn won 21-17. Give Wisky credit, they almost won using a completely depleted team due to injuries. It was basically Wisky’s 3rd teamers against Tenn’s 1st teamers.
While I hesitate to put too much stock into bowl games, I think the SEC’s bowl games have demonstrated that the conference is a solid, tough conference, but certainly not the Olympian court their delusional fanbase seems to believe it is.
The SEC’s wins have been by 7, 7, 6, 4, and 3. Their losses have been by 4 and 31. To me, all that “proves” is that the SEC is roughly equivalent to every other conference.
The Big XII is 4-2, winning by 31, 18, 16, and 3, while losing by 7 and 6.
I guess it’s that legendary Big XII speed.
Damn Gators! They didn’t stop Michigan the whole game, and I can’t believe they didn’t win even with four turnovers.
They didn’t play good the entire game or like they played the last few games of their season where they had big wins (Vanderbuilt, SC, FSU).
Of all the SEC teams in bowl games, I didn’t think Florida would disappoint (I figured the only loss would be Arkansas). However, they are still a young team. But watch out for the next few years!
I’m predicting Florida and USC in the national championship game next year.
Until then, the SEC should manage to go 7-2 in bowl games with Georgia’s win over Hawaii tonight and LSU’s win over OSU. 
Enjoy your win Michigan fans! It was still a good game overall and exciting to watch even though the Gators didn’t play like they are capable of.
Oh yeah, how well is the Big 12 doing in bowl games this year??? I’m pretty sure the SEC will take first place overall. 
I hope the Rose Bowl committee is pleased with their “traditional match-up” of Big-10 vs. Pac-10. As everyone predicted, the game turned out to be real good.

Agreed.
I would have liked to have seen USC and Missouri. Some of the choices for the bowl games didn’t make any sense and the Missouri vs. Arkansas game was one of them along with USC vs. Illinois!
Hopefully the Georgia vs. Hawaii and WV vs. Oklahoma game will be exciting, in addition to the LSU vs. OSU game next week.
How about that…another TD by USC…now it’s only 49-10!

I wish Mizzou could’ve been tested by a real team rather than that jayvee outfit from Arkansas. I would’ve liked to see how they stacked up versus an elite team not named Oklahoma. (And how in the holy hell did LSU lose to that Arkansas team at home?! The Hogs were awful!)
The BCS had matched up OU vs. Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl before the matchup was voted down by bowl commissioners. Instead, they left us with an otherwise uncompelling lineup.
I see I have a lot better luck at picking bowl games over UFC matches. I picked Michigan, Tennessee, and USC. Now just as long as hell stays nice and hot and LSU kicks OSU’s ass, I’ll make me some money!

I was wondering the same thing.
That would have been more compelling and made more sense, considering the Big 12 champ usually goes to the Orange Bowl.
I do think West Virginia will be a tough game for OU. I know all the experts are saying otherwise and that is what bothers me. For the past month all WV as been hearing is that they have no chance.
I don’t think motivation will be a problem for WV.

I agree. WVU has shown that they can be a very dangerous team when clicking on all cylinders, and OU hasn’t exactly come out guns-blazing in recent bowl games.
Add in the losses of Smith, Holmes, Granger, and Murray, and OU’s not quite at full strength for this game anyhow.
On the other hand, if Stoops can have them playing like they did vs. Mizzou in the Big XII title game, OU would run over anybody and everybody.

I’m not really worried about the offense. Even in the two games OU lost they were able to score enough points to give themselves a chance to win.
My concern, as you pointed out, is with the defense and the loss of several key players. I know depth isn’t a problem, but I wonder how Smith, Holmes, and Granger not playing will affect the defensive chemistry.

I agree and hope that the attitude OU showed in that game will carry over into the Fiesta Bowl.

I do not see it as much of a win for Michigan. Michigan played like crap and still won. I will take the exhibition game win, but to me it was more telling of how over-rated Florida really was. Florida should be ashamed that they could not beat an unranked team that committed four turnovers.
The play calling was typical Carr too. A poorly executed tackle-eligible pass with a Heisman trophy candidate in the backfield? You have to be kidding me. That attempt at a razzle-dazzle flea flicker was pathetic too. Absolutely no one was fooled on that play and they end up throwing an INT on the goal line. The guys at the tavern were laughing at me, until they tv showed people in the ground mouthing the exact same thing that I was saying - “What are they doing?”
If I had been on the sideline when Mike Hart comes off the field smiling and laughing after that fumble, I would have knocked his teeth down his throat. That caused his stock to really dropped right there (in my eyes). I understand that he fumbles once every thousand carries, but lets not forget that one should never fumble anyway. It happens, but do not act like you just did something special or got screwed by the refs.
I cannot wait for the Rodriguez era to begin. The first half of Carr’s tenure at Michigan was really quite good. The last half, not so good. Thanks for the memories and get out.
Florida was highly overated because the SEC was overated. Florida’s record accurately displays how good they are but everybody decided to disregard that.
If you go by the numbers OU deserved to be playing in the championship. How are you the number 5 team in the Nation, then beat the number 1 team then don’t move up? Something has to change.
West Virginia is a difficult team to place. They can possibly beat a top ranked team and lose to the worst team depending on the matchup. So how can you say they are the best team in the nation?
College football would have benefited most from a playoff this year. March madness in January would’ve been a beautiful thing.

Did you watch the game last night?
Last night’s game is precisely the reason I never root for ut-norman. Every time I do, they get their asses handed to them.
If you are a Sooner fan, you should be ashamed of your team.
If it weren’t for the fact that OU single-handedly ruined the Bowl Season for the Big 12, I would probably be having a huge laugh at their expense.
