College Football

My hat is off to Utah. I was very impressed w/ Johnson, as always, he’s the real deal. He didn’t throw any pics and avoided several sacks. I’m glad he’s a senior, wish the Cowboys would draft him but Jerry is not that bright. I was extremely impressed w/ your O-line, picking up blitzes and Jerry Hughes was a non-factor for the most part.

Your D was good as well. Kind of a bend but don’t break. It seemed like we had plenty of yards but then those 2 sacks that knocked us out of field goal range. Also several stops on 3rd and short that led to the 2 missed FGs.

Your kicker/punter had a couple of shanks but he’s still first rate. Killing that punt at the 1 really helped keep y’all in it. He looked solid on FG’s. Wouldn’t mind him in Arlington next year as well.

Utah had very few penalties compared to TCU. I lost count of how many times the O was offsides in the first half, when it looked like we were going to pull away. I started to get this creeping feeling that our failing to create distance was going to bite us. I knew we were in trouble when Dalton threw that pic that led to the FG just before half. GP does not like to use schollys on punters/kickers. It seems like a flawed theory to let a chess match like this one come down to an 18 year old walk on. Keep in mind TCU is extremely expensive and has no men’s soccer team.

Listening to you guys talk about your OC reminds me of the Frog fans talking about ours. You don’t attack the Frogs D w/ a lot of slow developing cute stuff. Much of our D played QB or RB and ran track in high school. Where was AB? They showed his stats in the 3rd quarter and I’m like dang, get him the ball coach. Also, Young was the only WR to catch many passes. Hicks caught one late, and no wild frog formation. I don’t remember Bryant catching one at all and Kerley was hurt. ZERO catches by the TE Shea Reagan, who is possibly the best athlete on the O. I’m sure Utah’s D was a factor in this but Frog fans have griped about this for years.

Utah played a great game and I hope you beat BYU, go to a BCS game and kill somebody. I’m pretty depressed about our prospects. We’ve got 2 weeks to get ready for AFA then probably an invite to the tidy bowl. I doubt San Diego wants us back and we’ve been to Houston 3 times since 2001. If we go to the Armed Forces Bowl atleast it’s only 1 day of missed work. Maybe my uncle will take me to Bama’s bowl. Can we just start baseball season now?

ucla.

Bring on the land thieves!

Anyone else want to bet on the over under? 110? 120? 130?

It’s going to be a shootout!

I’m just glad this game isn’t in Lubbock! My Sooners have haven’t played so well down there in recent years.

The winner of this game will have to score at least 40 points.

Too bad we have to wait two weeks for this game.

I’m already dizzy with anticipation. Definitely glad we have a bye week and the game’s at home.

I don’t think the winner needs to score at least 40 points - they just need to score more than the loser.

This makes the third Prime Time game of the week in a row for the Red Raiders.

TU-Norman had better learn some defense and learn it really fast. Too bad about all the injuries on defense. Tech is going to pick the secondary apart.

The only thing that keeps me worried about the game is that it is in Norman.

My offer to give you a dollar to go to the game still stands, darlin’.

Hell, for you, I’d make it five dollars!

As a Rump Raider, you should know better than to capitalize anything referring to that bid ol’ university in austin. It’s texas, not UT. Even better, texass.

The only OU wins is if Bradford stays with Harrell in pass completions. Secondly If OU plays zone def. they will be eaten alive, better play a lot of man to man as well as bump and run coverage.

Yeah, the bye week is coming at a good time. OU is a little banged up and needs this time off.

I would have to agree with RJ. OU is just too inconsistent on defense and I don’t see them being able to make enough stops. Oklahoma’s Special Teams are also abysmal. They can’t be giving Tech easy touchdowns or field position by giving up long kick returns.

I think this game will come down to which defense can put the most pressure on the opposing team’s QB. Both Harrell and Bradford will light up the scoreboard if they are allowed to sit in the pocket and complete passes.

WE WANT LEACH!

I think you should be looking at Butch Davis from UNC.

Leave Mike Leach alone.

i watched Davis’ replay of the Georgia Tech game, they run the exact same offense we do only they are doing it in a (what is considered) lower conference. a lot of Tennessee fans are no impressed with Davis,

Sure he has recruited well and built 2 programs, but as i mentioned earlier he runs the same offense and the real only difference is rolling out the QB a little more. Leach and a respectable defensive coordinator and we’ll be heading in the right direction. You can have Davis and Foolmer

You’ll have to pay for him. He’s living in the middle of recruiting heaven - Texas. He is never on an airplane for more than an hour at a time.

He has his system set, and the defense is playing exceptionally well with several underclassmen.

Not to mention, Tech could probably outspend Tennessee 10-1 right now, what with all the oil money flowing like milk and honey.

Plus, Lubbock is the epicenter for all of us eccentric idiots. He would not fit in in Tennessee - he’s too freaking weird. Hell, he could hardly stand Kentucky.

This is not an exaggeration. There’s not a fucking thing to do around there so people get reeeeeeeeeeal strange.

I did have fun visiting the podunk little city of yours though.

I lived there, but it is no longer my city.

There are plenty of things to do in West Texas and the Panhandle. It just takes a different breed of person to live here. And the folks get weirder and weirder the further south and west you go.

The Big Bend region - specifically Terlingua and Lajitas - is old school hardcore wild west crazy.

I just felt obligated to google them and I must concur.

I am just glad my team finally played a complete game today, yes it was against Duke but hey ya gotta start somewhere, hopefully it leads us to winning out (even though we don’t deserve to go to a bowl but that is a different story)

I’m sorry, but it’s going to be disheartening and highly embaressing for whatever Big XII team tries to keep up with Florida in the National Championship, providing they can get past FSU and the SEC Championship.

While I really like the way Florida is playing I don’t think they are unbeatable right now. They are beating the teams they should be by a ton right now, but since their loss to Ole Miss they’ve played Arkansas, LSU, Kentucky, Georgia, Vandy, and South Carolina. Not exactly the toughest teams to play but none the less they have beaten the shit out of all of those teams.

I just don’t know wanna hear the SEC talk about the Big 12 defenses when SEC teams have given up a good bit of points this year (LSU playing Troy yesterday anyone?, Sou Car giving up 56 with supposedly the 3rd best defense in the country? and these 2 are just what happened yesterday, not to mention UGA sucking when actually playing good teams) Florida is probably has the best shot at beating a Big 12 because their speed matches up very well but would they be able to execute in a lot of one on one situations with them being spread out by a damn good team? I don’t know, but you bet your ass I’d love to find out

Haha, you’re right. I didn’t mean to sound quite so boasty, because I think TT has a hell of a team this year. I just find it intriguing how Florida is firing on so many cylinders right now.

They can run. They can pass. They play amay-zing defense. They play amay-zing special teams. I know I’m probably bias because I’m a life-long fan, and do realize the SEC is down this year, but I think they’re really out to prove something.

Plus, I think I heard a stat one time that there’s 6 guys on Florida’s offense that runs under a 4.4, and 5 on defense that run under a 4.4 as well.

Now THAT’S scary.
