College Football

UT and Texas Tech has been a hell of a game.

1:30 left and UT is up by one. Hell of a come back.

Colt McCoy’s cock has to be dripping wet between these two announcers. Jesus.

i cant believe crabtree just did that

UF opened up a case today, and thank God my team finally got back in the win column!

Great game from Texas and Texas Tech, still can’t believe Tech ran down the field like that to pull out the win. Gotta give it up to McCoy though, he lead Texas back to a lead, defense just couldn’t hold it

What a finish of the UT/Tech game. Tech’s idiot fans almost cost them the game. Had to kick off from the 7 yard line w/ 1 second left. I was very skeptical about Tech. They’ve impressed me that last 2 weeks.

Bama won again. Love my Tide but what’s up w/ playing teams like Arkansas State, Tulane? LSU played Tulane today, and the not so Mean Green from Denton earlier in the year. Everyone says the SEC is so great, but they beat up on Middle Tennesee State all year before playing each other. Same thing w/ the Big 12. WE NEED A PLAYOFF!!!

TCU took care of business against UNLV. Hoping Utah can get past UNM unscathed.

Florida looks scarey good.

Fuck Colt McCoy.

He had one drive, and one long pass.

The unsung heroes are the Red Raider D. They played smash mouth football.

Crabtree should be the front runner for the Heisman. He is, by far the BEST player in college football tight now.

The shitty thing about Tech owning tu is the fact that the fucking pollsters are going to give #'s 1 and 2 to two shit teams.

Tech should be number 1. They will prove this in the next two weeks. If Tech wins out, there is not a single logical reason for not putting them in the title game.

There has not been a team in the history of college football that has run a gauntlet even close to what the Raiders will have run through should they go undefeated.

Fuck the Big-10, and the SEC.

The “If” questions seem to be changing every week, but I’ll definitely agree with rainjack that if Tech wins out (Ok. State, at oklahoma, baylor and the title game) they should be in the title game, but I also said that about Texas this year. Been a damn good season but it is gonna come down to the last week of the reg. season before we know the definite #1 and #2 in the BCS.

Normally I wouldn’t say this but this is the first time in a while where I have seen teams lose a game early and it literally be the best thing for them, Florida being the best example of that this year. The Ole Miss loss lit a fire under their ass and they haven’t scored less than 38 points since the Arkansas game. Oklahoma put up 58 points last week(55 in the first half) and 62 tonight(35 in the 1st Quarter). Freakin amazing

Football involves tackling not just flippity doo offense. PSU would kill Tech. Yep, I said kill. I think they’d handle Texas also.

They play this thing called defense in State College. And they can score. But it’s not going to matter. Tech isn’t getting past OSU, OU, and the championship game. you’re going to see Texas play Missouri most likely.

As for Bama and Florida, Florida does look tough, but that’s why they play the games.

PSU has to take care of their own business, if they win out, I’m very confident.

They’re not a big Ten team remember, they’re an eastern independent that joined the Big Ten. a lot of us PSU alums don’t like to be stained with the can’t win a big game paint.

Paterno is 23-10-1 in bowl games. PSU is 6-2 when playing as an undefeated team of playing for a MNC. ( they had one loss when they beat Georgia). They’ve beaten A&M, Texas, Tennessee, Miami and others in Paterno’s coaching years.

Texas Tech is the least of my worries as opposed to Bama, Florida, USC, and OU.

Bring it on though.

LOL!! McCoy, Harrell, and Bradford would light the Penn St. defense up like a Christmas tree!! I can only hope a Big 12 team gets a chance to play that old son of a bitch Paterno in the BCS Championship game.

Assuming my Sooners gets by A&M next week, they are going to have their hands full against Tech. OU has been abysmal defensively this year, which I can’t figure out considering they returned so many starters from last year and are visibly faster and more athletic on that side of the ball.

I wont even go into OU’s non-existent Special Teams play.

The only thing OU has going in their favor is the game is in Norman, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Tech walked out of there with a double digit victory.

Penn State has absolutely nothing. They have beaten no one. Other than an extremely over rated OSU, they have not played a ranked team.

JoPa is a senile old man, who doesn’t even really coach anymore. He sits in the press box a cat naps.

I certainly hope Tech wins out and gets a title shot. Penn State will be completely embarrassed - Just like all the Big-10 teams do when they have to play real college football teams.

penn state sucks. If they were in a real conference, they would likely not even be bowl eligible.

I’m really hoping for a Texas Tech / Florida game. I think Florida’s firing on all cylinders, and Texas Tech happened into the right position at the right time. If they can get past their weak-ass conference championship, hopefully we’ll have a representative from the SEC show them how defense is actually played.

“Smash-mouth” Texas Tech defense? Didn’t they let up 33 points?

6 wins is a joke(could even say 7 for the guaranteed bowl bid), the top teams from every major conference save maybe the Big East(WVU maybe) would be bowl eligible regardless of where they played, there’s bottomfeeders everywhere, and all the good schools beat up on them, non-conference games don’t lie.

Edit: I am in no way saying Penn State has played a tougher schedule or anything, I’m not insane, but randomly placed subjective statements that actually have proof to the contrary(Big-10’s outstanding record in bowl games not named Rose Bowl or “National Championship”) don’t help reinforce your point about a team being bad.

One TD was a punt return, and one was a one play, blown coverage, TD.

They kept tu to 80 yards on the ground, and put pressure on McCoy pretty much all night.

Until there is a playoff system, EVERYTHING is subjective.

Even using past bowl game performances is subjective.

Penn State is a weak team. They would lose most of their conference games were they in the Big 12.

Texas Tech will not win out. They will go down to either Oklahoma State or Oklahoma in the next few weeks or end up losing against one of the above (or Texas) in the Big 12 championship game.

Gators just need to keep playing the way they have and beat Alabama in the SEC Championship to have a strong case to be in the title game against “whoever” for the BCS championship.

Penn State may end up being like the undefeated Auburn team a few years ago that was skipped over for the national championship despite having a perfect season. Unfortunatley for Penn State, they have a weak schedule.

But hey, they could get lucky and still make it to the championship game when things are all said and done since there is plenty of football left in the next few weeks!

If their is one thing that is 100% certain at this point it is that NOTHING is set in stone, at this point last month OU, Missu, LSU, Bama, and Texas were the top 5. As of today, the top 5 is Bama, PSU, TTU, OU, UF(note top 5’s are from the Coaches Poll, NOT the worthless AP poll which has no impact in the BCS).

God only knows what the top 5 will be Dec. 7th, gonna be one hell of a ride the next six weeks!

Uhh…you might want to bone up on your Big-12 knowledge. OU, OSU, tu, and Tech are all in the B-12 SOUTH. The winner of the South plays the winner of the North.

There is no possible way Tech would meet any of those three in the Big 12 Champ game.

The big test id going to be next week against the Cowboys coming off the win last night. Might be a little bit of a let down. But Tech has a bye week before playing UT-Norman.

I have faith in my Red Raiders. They win 4 more, and they are playing for the national championship.

Florida beating Alabama guarantees that there will be no SEC team playing for the NC, assuming Penn State can finish their lame schedule undefeated.

This is true, and the best thing that can happen for Tech is to NOT be ranked #1 for the next 3-4 weeks.

You bring up an interesting point. I’d be very surprised if there wasn’t a favoring vote amongst a lot of coaches and pollsters to put an SEC team over a Big-10 team for the National Championship.

I don’t give a shit what anyone says about it, the BCS WILL end up favoring the Big XII or SEC, and not give a shit about it. The BCS is still a business, and another big “Did they get it right?” hooplah at the end of the year is just what the television stations want in terms of publicity.

Plus, people are generally smart enough to figurte out that putting a Big 10 team in a BCS championship means a blowout. It’s going to be a wacky to finish to a wacky season indeed.

I don’t get all the hype over the Big 12. Yes, this year, they are the best conference, bar none. No argument there. However, historically, they have not fared well at all in the BCS. In fact, the only conference they’ve outperformed in the BCS has been the dismal ACC.

Big 12 teams are 6-8 in the BCS while the Big 10 is 8-9. You wanna talk about blowouts, how about “55-19”? Hell, the Big East, which people say doesn’t deserve an automatic bid is 6-4 and last year the Big East champion, WVU, spanked Oklahoma.

BCS Records by Conference:

SEC: 11-4
Pac-10: 8-4
Big East: 6-3
Big 10: 8-9
Big 12: 6-8
ACC: 1-9

Number of Schools with Winning BCS Records by Conference:

SEC: 4
Pac-10: 4
Big East: 3
Big 10: 3
Big 12: 2
Non-BCS: 2

Hell, the WAC is 1-1 and Boise beat Okalahoma. Maybe they should get the Big 12’s automatic bid?

All in good fun

If we were talking about the Big-10 in general, I would say you were right, especially this season. But we are talking about Penn State and JoPa.

I think Alabama loses to LSU next week and screws up the BCS picture even more such that you have Tech and Penn State as the only undefeated teams left.
