College Football

The Illini will rule the Big Ten this year.
The loss to Mizzou will be the last.

Incidently…Mizzou is a pretty good ballclub.

Polini is going to be in for a wake up call this year. Husker fans won’t give him a year to fix things. I see Nebraska winning 6.[/quote]

Wow! Everything in your post is wrong. Really, everything. First, it’s “Pelini,” not “Polini.” Second, he is going to do just fine. Third, Husker Nation will give Pelini no less than 4-5 years to turn things around.

It was not Callahan’s lack of results, but his attitude and the way we lost that caused him to get the boot. Finally, Nebraska will lose no more than 4 games this year (Mizzou, OU, Texas Tech., and either K State or CU).

Himora:

That’s one HUGE problem ECU has;

Their coaches don’t stay.

The Pirates will often field the best Football in the State, and will periodically have some of the best Coaching Staffs. However, they are often lost to larger schools.

I agree; Holtz won’t be there long.

Mufasa

ECU played a great game, talk about coming down to the wire. This first week of football reminds of me of the upsets of last season. UCLA beat Tennessee in overtime, which was also a surprise to me as well.

Didn’t they fire the last good coach, I forget his name, but beat TCU twice, after 1 bad year?

Oh.

About the Tennessee game.

Bad news.

Because of the power of the SEC, NO team can afford to lose any non-conference games, because of the extreme difficulty of going undefeated in the conference.

(Again; can anyone say “play-off”?)

Mufasa

Believe me Mufasa, I was completely shocked when UCLA won. They had their 3rd string QB in, yet he managed to pull it off, especially in the 2nd half. Can you say Norm Chow?

I am glad to see my USC Trojans ranked #1 in the AP and Coches Polls.

ABSOLUTELY!

Mufasa

ECU will probably put up a good fight against WVU, but if WVU throws TD passes like last week(yes I know it was against a IAA team) ECU will get waxed. They have matched up decently with WVU the past few years but WVU’s offense seems balanced so far.

I can’t believe USC magically jumped up two spots. Granted, they beat a team from a bigger conference, but Virginia was suspect as hell last year and they lost some of their best players.

I’m calling upset this weekend - Central at Georgia! (Wouldn’t that be crazy?)

That would be something SSC, and after watching the mess with last season, I have learned anything is possible. I couldn’t count how many times the #1 ranking changed during the season.

Thats what happens when the rankings are decided upon by who has the best TV ratings as who sells the most merchandise…I hate the BCS

Also who decides who get the awards at the end of the year? Say you are a QB or RB, you can get the Hisman then not end up best QB or best RB. How the Hell does that work?

There are too many factors involved when you talk about winning the Heisman. Even if you do win the Heisman, it does not mean much in the grand scheme of the NFL. Many winners don’t pan out to do much in the NFL, while no-namers do much better and make a name for themselves regardless of their performance in college.

The only player I can think of that has actually had some success in the pros after winning the Heisman in college would be Carson Palmer out of USC. Ricky Williams might finally have his head on straight now but he’s wasted a good bit of his possible good years in the NFL.

I remember Ricky Williams being an absolute beast in college. He tore teams apart with his combination speed, strength, and power. I think he has the talent and ability to do similar things in the pros, but he loves the weed too much. If he were to train with serious dedication and put down the pot, he would be a force to be reckoned with.

But I agree that Carson Palmer has been the only guy in the past recent years to have done something with his heisman, also Reggie Bush has done well for himself.

Bush is an interesting player, lots of potential but I’m not to sure how to maximize his talents (man that sounds like a coach!).

Hopefully for the Saints sake they can, I’m just ready for my panthers to kick some ass, and for my Tigers to get back on track saturday(we play the Citadel, come on now no reason not to)

What the hell happened to South Carolina???

Mufasa

I am telling you, this season is starting to show signs of last season’s plague of upsets.

Penn State grad here,… I’m looking forward to the night game at the Horseshoe even though its a long shot
