College Football

I think it will be closer than the pundits are predicting…

I was watching some College Football Preview show this morning. I didn’t listen to it since I had my Ipod on. But I read some of the captions on it, and it featured Lou Holtz as an analyst. I thought how great it was to see ol’ Lou back in full form yelling, screaming, and turning beat red as I remember his from his old days at Notre Dame.

One thing that College Football has over Pro Football is that there is more nostalgia (just my opinion.) Some of us were kids watching a favorite team (maybe a parent’s team) and seeing it on the boob tube. Hearing the fight song and seeing the colors of your favorite team.

This is my favorite part of the year, with college football starting tomorrow. I look forward to shooting the shit with some of you during the season, and seeing how it develops.

Agreed, as long as Baylor can get pressure on Skinner it’ll be a close game for sure.

Baylor stunk it up. Not surprised. Not really sure what to think of Briles, but he did have UH heading in right direction.

Glad to see Stanford win. We play them in Ft. Worth this year.

Whatever happened to UTEP? Thought Price was gonna turn them around. Still happy for Buffalo, the HC Turner Gill is from Ft Worth and went to my high school.

The Cowboys managed to win a meaningless preseason game. The new #3 QB looked good, as did Amendola from Tech. The kicker hit 2 over 50, I think he has the job.

I kept falling asleep between Baylor and the Cowboys. Now I’m up.

So much for my prediction…I’m going to keep my mouth closed. Now if ASU can keep it within 30 points of LSU we won the battle!

If App State beats LSU, does anyone think a Top 25 team will ever schedule them for a season-opener ever again?

I love upsets, I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

You must have loved last season then Bauer. How many times did the #1 ranking change? Week to week I think. This season should be exciting, lots of stuff going on.

So ready for Saturday night for my tigers to be playin, anybody know if Musberger and Herbstreit are commentatin the game? Hopefully all this hype about my team this year that I’ve seen can actually be met by an ass kickin season by 'em.

I TOLD you guys that the ACC wants no part of “Pirate Fever”!

As of week one:

East Carolina: 1

ACC: 0

Mufasa

41 - 13…OUCH!!!

It’s your turn Mufasa. There are a lot of happy folks all over eastern NC tonight.

The ACC doesn’t belong in the BCS, their I said it, not after today, my team f’s it up YET AGAIN, Bowden better be fired, 10 years is long enough of his BS, so damn pissed right, and two ACC teams (maryland and North Carolina) beatin AA teams by 7 points A PIECE?! Seriously, I don’t think anything could cheer me up after today…

Well, Bama has been notorious for throwing the short pass in a long situation, too - so I really, really feel your pain.

I mentioned this earlier in the thread:

Every year there is hope that the ACC finds its Football “identity”.

It won’t be 2008.

As MODOK pointed out, the ACC got thumped by every non-conference opponent they played; and East Carolina continues to field the best college Football team in North Carolina.

Quite frankly, I don’t know WHAT the answer is for ACC football.

Mufasa

Was a good day for me. TCU wins a conference hame on the road, beats the spread, and doesn’t allow a TD.

Bama looked incredible last night.

Utah represented the conference well.

Arkansas State beats the Aggies.

It’s time to break up this cartel known as the BCS.
MODOK wrote:
The ACC comes out in full force and makes a strong statement for the worst conference in college football. Every one of their teams playing other conferences got WORKED. It was pretty painful to watch.
I hate to say, “I told you so,” but I was making this very argument several pages back in this thread. The only exception to the ACC’s embarrassment was Wake, which actually looked fairly decent (albeit against the worst team in the Big 12). The best part is that I put some money down on ECU beating Va. Tech! I could smell that upset from a mile away. And Clemson is officially terrible. Everyone thought that THIS would be the year they broke through, but now we no they’ll never make it. I sense there will be at least one Bowden on the market come season’s end.

USC looks stout. If Beanie Wells is hurt too bad and can’t go against them, Ohio State has no shot IMO.

I hope he is good to go. As a football fan, I want the game to be as exciting as possible. As a USC fan, I want their best shot so there is no second-guessing about the victory down the line.
