Ole Miss Rebels hire Hugh Freeze to take over as head coach.
Great decision in my opinion. Freeze took an Arkansas State team who had not had a winning record since 1995 to a 10-2 record this year, with a trip to a bowl game upcoming.

I go to Alabama, so of course I choose them, but here is my reasoning.
Alabama lost to LSU by 3 points. Alabama played better ball offensively and defensibly that game. The only reason we lost is because of 4 failed field goals. Our only loss is to the #1 team by 3 points. They couldnt score a touchdown on us like they do so easily on everyone else.
OkState lost to IOWA STATE, a 6-6 unranked team. It does not matter you CAN NOT go to the BCS championship if you have a loss to a 6-6 team. It just doesnt compute. Yes they have had great games but they have also let teams score 35+ on them. The only way to beat LSU is with a solid defense.
Been a crazy year for college football.
The Sugar Bowl selections are interesting in that Va Tech and Michigan are both at-large selections ranked #11 and #13 when #7 and #8 (Boise and Kansas St) were available. Even though it’s all about asses in seats and TV ratings, that is still quite a rarity in the BCS era for top ten tens to be snubbed for selection.
And a missed field goal against TCU is the only thing separating Boise St between the national championship game and the fucking Las Vegas Bowl!
So, no non-AQ teams and only one Big 12 team in BCS bowls? Am I seeing that right?
For the first time in a really long time I’m looking forward to the Rose Bowl.
Thats going to be a good game.

I’m thinking Boise (or UH for that matter) was not allowed to go because they did not win their conference championship. I realize UH fell so far in the rankings taht they were out. UH does not travel well.
I believe Boise and KSU both travel pretty well. TCU can travel well for it’s size. We had over 40K in the Rose Bowl. Doubt we send more than a few thousand to San Diego. Still not sure why we could not have gone to Shreveport. Could not get over the number of 6-6 teams in bowls, especially when everyone plays a 1AA team nowadays.
I’ll be watching Frogs from my couch.
Happy for Bama but not sure they deserve it this year. If OU or UT had the identical season that OSU had then they would be getting waxed by LSU in the MNC game.

I think she is passed out by now. [/quote]
I drank plenty, but actually didn’t get belligerent. I think licking my tears off my cheeks kept the hangover at bay. I just about unfriended my second cousin (a Poke) on FB, tho. I stepped away from that and just made “Act like you’ve been there before” my status.
It was interesting, my OU friends all said things like “Wow, we were terrible, OSU deserves a shot at LSU, etc” and my OSU friends said things like “Sooners suck, you guys should stop playing, you’re pathetic, you’ve only got a 65 win lead on us because you cheated for years, etc.” Thought it was funny that they could beat us that badly and the fans still couldn’t let the play speak for itself. ![]()
Ugh. Rough year, and now Stoops will have to coach against Iowa (his alma mater) in the “at least it’s after Christmas” bowl.
Stay classy K-State
Good explanation of why Oklahoma State couldnt pass Alabama.

Strangely you see that sort of thing a lot from teams that normally suck when they have a decent season.
Its like they have to make up for decades of not being able to talk smack so they go the extra classless mile.
Michigan State has to be pissed off, and I don’t blame them. They don’t deserve the Outback bowl in Tampa.
No rose bowl, no BCS bowl, while Michigan (a team that MSU beat) gets to play in the Sugar Bowl.
It’ll be against Georgia though, it’ll be a fun game to watch.
And how’s about them Badgers. Jeez louise. That was a championship game to remember. Pac-12 and SEC Championship games were snoozers and the OSU/OU game was downright unwatchable. The Big 10 showed up and banged for four quarters. Fun game to watch, one I won’t soon forget.
Several surprises in the BCS bowls until we remember it is about money and secondarily about football. However, I think there are some good bowl games to be watched. Hopefully the BCS will either; only do the NC game as a separate bowl, or switch to a playoff system. Since the former is more likely than the latter, it will be nice when there is a more even stratification of bowls. Bowls like the Cotton Bowl were top tier before the BCS era. Trying to put together good games rather than the jackiminie rank/conference crap. If conference sucks they are not in the top bowls.
Though how the ACC has two teams and the Big 12 only one in the BCS bowls is strange.

If this kid keeps getting better (he is a sophomore right?) I see a defensive Heisman in the future. You cannot say his size gives him any advantage (except he is below the sight-line of most of the players). His biggest issue may be keeping his image clean enough.

He is talented no doubt, but you are right about the dirty play:
So I’m just gonna call the Cotton Bowl a BCS game for this year, because KState and Arkansas deserve it. This years bowls, from the rematch all the way down, I think are the best illustration of how broken the system is on all levels.
Semi-related, isn’t the Gator Bowl supposed to be a decent bowl game of mid level teams? OSU and Florida slugging it out at 6-6!
Honey Badger is great because he’s so raw. You can categorize him as a football player before handcuffing him within one position. It’s great to see, just hope he keeps his nose clean.

Did you know K-State is the 2nd most recognizable program in the entire nation behind Notre Dame? I sure didnt.
