I have always wanted to have my own show on ESPN. Since that aint happening I thought I would post my own personal power ranking from time to time on the best college football conference in the nation, the SEC.
My rankings are based upon 41 years of intensive football immersion training, my experience as a small, slow, largely uncoordinated player in ranks reaching as high as one week of spring walk on practice at a half ass junior college and some common sense.
As an Auburn grad, I hate all things associated with the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. However, I will keep those emotions in check in this thread.
Alabama - I hate them but they are the best until somebody knocks them off.
LSU - Showed some weakness against an Auburn team that won zero SEC games last year. Lets see if they can get their crap straight.
Georgia - Florida should be here, but they lost their QB for the season Saturday.
Texas A&M - Will probably move up. I doubt that they lose another conference game this year. They hung some impressive numbers on an NFL defense when they lost to Alabama.
Florida - QB is gone for the season. Wait to see how they do with their #2 guy.
South Carolina - Their best player is either injured or is just killing time until draft day. Already lost a conference game and letting Vandy score 25 when you are supposed to be all about defense isn’t real impressive.
Ole Miss - Still don’t know how impressive their win against Texas was. We will see what they got when they play Bama this week.
Vandy - Looked good against Ole Miss, but managed to lose. Vandy being Vandy? Wins against Austin Peay and UMass should not even count. Hanging 25 on South Carolina was impressive, but again, managed to lose.
Mississippi State - Only ranked them number 9 because teams 10 through 14 are so bad. Lost to Auburn despite the fact that we couldn’t tackle their QB. Perhaps the worst coached team in the league.
Tennessee - I rank them this high only because they managed to score some points on Florida’s defense. Like my Auburn Tigers, they appear to be headed in the right direction, it just might take another year or 2.
Auburn - Yes they beat Mississippi State, but they shouldn’t have. MSU gave that game away. Yes they played a great 2nd half against LSU, but this is the SEC. We don’t hand out awards for trying hard. Will probably beat somebody they aren’t supposed to beat, but will still only manage 2 more conference wins. I am realistic.
Arkansas - Samford and Louisiana Layfayette combined to score 35 on them. They lost to Rutgers. SEC teams don’t lose to Rutgers. This is one of the teams that Auburn has a chance to beat.
Mizzu - Why are they in the SEC? We already had a Kentucky.
Kentucky - Nothing to say about them because it isn’t basketball season.
Responses doubting the superiority of the SEC will be ignored as uninformed.
Responses discussing cheating by SEC schools will be met with the SEC mantra “If you aint cheatin you aint tryin”.
It’s been a sad several years as a Tennessee boy. I am out of optimism as to how many years it’ll be this time before they come back. We’re still the 11th winningest team in college football; about 100 wins behind first place. It’s pretty amazing to think about that given how much we have floundered for the last long while. Could have been so much better.
Anyway from what I saw of the TN - Florida game the other day, SURPRISE, turns out Florida’s second string QB is better than their starter. Lucky us. If only our offense weren’t utterly impotent. Our QB’s were highly recruited if I recall correctly. Guess we need to stop paying attention to who people think the best young quarterbacks are and just do it randomly. Seems like we’d be better off.
The worst part is that knowing Tennessee, Worley was probably getting paid lol. Not anymore I hope.

The Vols will be back. Just a matter of when. Kiffin destroyed the program, just like he is doing at USC. Dooley was a joke. I think Tennessee has the right guy to rebuild their program with now.
I am really curious to see the Ole Miss-A&M game. Ole Miss had that game won last year till they blundered it away in the last couple minutes of the 4th. Bama is going to beat them down though. I think a third place SEC West finish would be a spectacular season for them.
Fourth would be a success, means you beat the teams you were supposed to beat, lost to the ones you were supposed to lose to which are 3 pre season top 10 schools. I think LSU and Bama are going to be standing atop the mountain of the SEC once again this year. Georgia’s D will keep them in third.
Where would you rank Oregon and Ohio State if they had to play in the SEC?
Regarding the Driskel situation (Florida QB) - I never wish ill upon anyone but him getting injured may have been the best possible thing that happened to UF this season. He had shown last and so far this year that he’s either not prepared or just simply not mentally able to have quick digestion and diagnoses of defenses. I don’t know about the #2 guy (he looked good,) but he can’t be any worse than Driskel. Could still make a decent bowl game.

I really like Butch Jones. The thing is I’m just too scared to say anything positive about a UT coach given the last two lol.
Jbpick that’s an interesting question re Oregon and OSU. I haven’t seen much of OSU but I saw Oregon in person when they came to va and spanked uva. Granted, uva isn’t much competition, but the ducks are lightning fast all across the board. I think Oregon this year would be up there with bama and LSU. But it could be like the auburn Oregon championship game, kind of lopsided ya know?

Is it pathetic as an IU fan I thought Missouri was a good team…then I saw this lol
So what does that say about Indiana losing to such a terrible team at home?
That we need to stop scheduling SEC teams, even the shitty ones and that I’ve seen better defense in a Penn State locker room than IU’s defense.

Yea those were my thoughts. I hate to see any player injured, but frankly it looks like Florida as a team may get more wins because of it.

Yeah. I would probably put Oregon at 3. They do the same thing AandM does only better, and Georgia has already shown it cant handle a face paced offense when they played Clemson. Ohio State, I would probably put in that South Carolina/Florida group, good for the East but would be a solid 4th for in the West with Ole Miss making them slightly uncomfortable. I have no faith in the Big 10 really.

Neither one would beat Bama, LSU, A&M, UGA and probably not Florida(Still wondering about the QB situation for Florida) I would give at least one of them a win over South Carolina. I would say the best they could hope for in the West, if they got some help, would be a 3rd place finish. The East is not as strong but I wouldn’t see them winning that division either.

I have a little more faith in Oregon than you do. Less in A&M. I feel like Ohio St will end the year as by far the most overrated team. I still like South Carolina over Florida. I just have no faith in Florida. Georgia is good enough but their Defense will have to drastically improve to be in the same tier as Bama and LSU. The defenses around the SEC this year are some of the worst that we have had in several years. I haven’t looked at a single one that made me stop and go wow.
This is fun.
Lets make predictions on this weekends Steel Cage Death Match in Athens, GA.
Georgia vs. LSU
Last week I would have said LSU wins by 10 points. However, I watched LSU quit against Auburn Saturday night. Maybe it was the big early lead. Maybe it was looking ahead to Georgia. Either way, they didn’t want to be there and Auburn should have beaten them. I give UGA a touchdown because this game is not being played in Death Valley. I say Georgia wins a close game with a late score. The law of averages says that Aaron Murray can’t keep laying eggs in big games forever. He will eventually win one and this may be it.
Also, my Auburn Tigers will NOT lose this weekend. I guarantee that.

All credibility was just thrown out the window with that post.

I never said I was credible. Seriously though, which one of those teams would Oregon or Ohio State beat this year? Bama, LSU, Georgia, Texas A&M?
