I wouldn’t exactly call it a showcase when you’re playing UCLA, who’s been the equivalent of a high school football team this year.

I definitely agree that Barkley should be in the running though. I think Luck, Richardson, Barkley, Keenum, and Griffin will probably be the ones who head to New York for the Heisman.

Anybody think Houston will get an At Large bid to a BCS bowl? or is a team like Michigan more likely to get it?

After the career Keenum has had it would be nice to see him perform on a big stage. I am sure NFL scouts would like to see it too.
If Houston beats Southern Miss or whoever they’re playing in the C-USA title game they are guaranteed a bid. The top-ranked non-AQ conference winner (i.e. not Boise) is guaranteed an at-large if they are in the top 12 of the BCS standings. Or if they are in the top 16, but rated higher than an AQ conference winner (definitely higher than the Big East champ, and probably the eventual Big 10 champ). I heard that the Sugar Bowl has to take the non-AQ this year, so they’ll probably get to face someone like Michigan. Stanford will probably end up in the Fiesta against one of the Oklahomas. Cougs might have a shot, hopefully it’ll be more like a Boise or TCU BCS showing and less like Hawaii’s spanking.

Last night, UCLA fans asked me “who are you playing next week ? Oh yea, that’s right, NO ONE because of the sanctions.” I replied with, “you are playing a team that is going to hammer you, and we still beat IN OREGON.”

Honestly, how do you talk trash when you lose 50-0 ? The nerve !

Isn’t 1 half of the Sugar Bowl going to be an SEC team?

UH is playing USM, who sspoiled TCU’s BCS bid in 2003.

I have not watched a lot of UH this year, but I noticed yesterday Tulsa was giving them fits just by stopping the run, and wrapping up after short completions. Tulsa had several key turnovers as well. Tulsa has 4 losses but all to ranked teams.

I like Sumlin as a coach. I’m surprised someone hasn’t lured him away.

Frogs play UNLV Saturday (yawn).

Griffen, Richardson, Luck, Keenum, and Moore should all get invites. Griffen should win, but I think it will most likely go to Richardson, who is also deserving.

Getting knocked out half way through the game yesterday really hurt Richardson IMO. Not because he couldn’t continue putting up numbers, but because his team was able to keep putting up numbers WITHOUT him. I think it showed that he’s really playing in a potent system, and although he is extremely gifted, others are able to make that offense run fairly well on their own.

EDIT: I mean’t Griffin III

Did you mean someone besides Richardson because he didn’t get knocked out of the game?

Yea I meant Griffin III, thanks for catching that.

The Sugar Bowl gets the SEC champ unless that team plays in the BCS championship. Since two SEC teams always get BCS invites, they usually just take the 2nd place team, like Arkansas last year. But since the top two teams will likely play in the big game, I have no idea what the order of choice is. I guess they are always free to take Arkansas or Georgia (assuming UGA loses next week), but they do not have to and will probably feel the pressure to get a big-fanbase Big 10 team.

I have seen a couple of places where the predicted sugar bowl is UM and UH but something about that strikes me odd.

If there is an LSU/BAMA rematch the sugar bowl won’t be able to take another sec team, bc only 2 teams from a conference are allowed to play in bcs bowls in a given season.

I think the exception is if they(LSU/BAMA) play in the title game a 3rd team from the same conference is allowed to go to a bcs game.

^^The only way that happens is if Georgia beats LSU but Bama and LSU stay 1 & 2… Arkansas has no shot at a BCS game.

The only way 3 teams from the same conference can go is if #1 and #2 in the BCS somehow don’t win their conference… They would both play in the NCGame and the conference winner would get a bid (as long as it was an AQ Conference)

Another nice win for Stanford, and Andrew Luck. As much as I’d love to see him take the Heisman though, I think it will probably go to Richardson, since he’ll probably get to play in two more high profile games.

Who are other people leaning towards for the Heisman?
I am biased but it has to be Richardson after his dominance over Auburn, 203 yards and recieving td and that epic 57-yard run.
I definitely see what you mean.

But Montee Ball at Wisconsin put the Badgers on his back and carried them the whole game. 4 TD’s, 150+ yards. Secured Wisconsin a berth in the Big 10 Championship.

It’s great to see plenty of great football players. Lots of guys deserving of the trophy this year.

OK State is gaining on Alabama in the human polls.

If they beat Oklahoma convincingly on Saturday there is a chance that they could leapfrog Bama for number 2. I dont think it’ll happen but it would cause a shit storm with the SEC fanboys.

I also think its pretty weak that Matt Barkley isnt getting more buzz in the Heisman race. Just because SC is under sanctions doesnt take away from what he’s done on the field.

He has complete 69% of his passes for 3,528 yards 39 (yes THIRTY NINE) TD passes and only 7 INTS in a Pro Style Offense (not a spread offense)

^^If that isnt a state line for some serious Heisman consideration then I dont know what is.

Who are you, no respect for people without an AVI

So what if Pete has a chance to draft him, what would Barkley do? Knowing basically that Pete fucked him prior to leaving?

I think it would be more like a timely reunion than anything negative.

Pete gobbled Barkleys hang-down during any interview on radio or otherwise while he was at USC.

^ I just dont know how I would feel from Barkley’s standpoint? Here is a coach that recruited you promised you the world, then ducks out of dodge and leaves you hamstrung for your college career.
