Coach Staley's Video

You are probably new to informing yourself about weightlifting and nutrition. You are also, most likely, a college student who is short on funds and have yourself convinced that you cannot afford anything other than some cheap protein and the latest hot product, like NO2 supps. You have probably dug through all of the articles and are still trying to figure out which method is teh best for you (and might have training pschizophrenia where you start a new program every two weeks).
I have the end all answer for you. A few weeks ago I won a prize pack here on T-mag from Coach Staley. It was a video series on EDT (do a search, Escalating Density Training). I have been reading T-mag for years now, and thought EDT was a neat, novel idea for losing fat. It seemed like cardio with weights. I also saw that the video series was for sale for $49.99. I am now working as a full time engineer making 60K. There is still no way I would pay for a video series when I can read about it on T-mag for free.
After having watched the video, I can honestly say that there is probably no better way to ingest the information here on T-mag than the be involved in a seminar, watch one of these videos, and listen in on one of these conference calls with the coaches themselves.
Even though I had read, reread, reread, and reread the articles, having it laid out in front of me on video made the concepts all that much clearer. Sometimes in the articles, you get into academic mode and start overanalyzing the information, whereas when the information is conveyed conversationally, the important points, the bottom lines can gets repeated and repeated. The Staley video series along with John Berardi’s nutrition articles have probably been two of the most important bits of information on training I have recieved in my 5+ years of lifting. I was blown away at the simple but incredibly effective logic of his training techniques. . . I am sure Berardi has a video lecture too, which would be worth its weight in Uraniuim.
My point is this. . . . If you are asking this question, you are probably new at intelligently optimizing your training schedule. Get a video or tape series. I guarantee you will short circuit your growth by two or three years.
Coach Staley, I hope you get to read this. I want to say thank you so much for this video series. I got much more out of them than I ever expected to.

The title got changed from “if you are looking to lose weight without losing any muscle”, so the first part probably doesnt make any sense. In any case, Coach Staley’s EDT video is awesome, and has changed my way of thinking that money is better spent on education than on fad supplements.

Anyway, thanks again, coach staley.

This is a great testimonial-thanks. It inspires me so much that I have to give away a couple more prizepacks. Here is what I will do…usually I do random picks but this time post here why you want this-what you love about EDT, or even if you know nothing about it -On Monday I will pick 3 of you to send these out to. You will receive the 2 video set along with “The truth about ABS and why you have never seen yours”. If you were also a past winner let me know over at julianne@edtsecrets.com what you thought. Thanks-Julianne

Coach Staley,
I am a 24 year old Social Studies Teacher / Assistant High School Basketball Coach. I am going to be in charge of the weight lifting in our program. EDT seems to be so motivating. I would love to see how the guys respond to this type of training. I might have to tweek it a little bit to be a little more sport specific, but I would love your input and advice on that statement.
Thanks,
Adam C.

I have the Massive Arms book and love it, but also would like to see the video and apply EDT for a full body workout. I don’t have athletes to train nor a team to teach, but I think that something like this will help me get over the mental plateau were I am at now.
P.S. Are you set up in Phoenix?

Thanks.

I recently purchased Coach Staley’s February 2004 Boot Camp videos and whave viewed all 4 tapes. I enjoyed all the lectures and demonstrations and got something new out of each session. Being able to see the different lecturers has a much bigger impact then simply reading words of a page.

Hey Coach, I would be interested in recieving a set of seminar videos. I purchased your “Secrets for Massive Arms” EDT book, about 9 months ago and have had great success using the ideas contained within. Even though I am not that concerned with the size of my arms, I find that EDT is superior to other repetition methods for stimulating functional hypertrophy. I am currently in preparation for a professional hockey camp that I will be attending this fall. My greatest challenge currently is returning to my prior form. I returned from an LDS mission about a year ago and it has been very difficult getting back to where I once was. As I am sure you know, playing elite level hockey requires an uncanny mix of both size and speed. I have always had the speed, but the muscle density was never there. Now, since beginning to use EDT in combination with a Westside style program, I have changed my entire body, placing myself in a completely different class as a player. I believe that is a testament to the validity of training with Escalating Density. I look forwarding to learning more about your philosophies.

Hey Coach Staley, I would be very interested in your video series on EDT. I’ve been reading every t-mag article I can find on different programs and methods of training, however many of the ones I read end up becomming jumbled masses of words and jargon and I don’t usually feel like I get much out of them. Either I can’t seem to incorporate them right or I don’t truly understand the concepts. Either way, to have such an awesome program presented audiovisually would definitely drive it home. I’ve read/heard a lot about its benefits and I’d love to get a really good understanding of the principles and methods involved. Also I’ve kind of adopted a physical fitness guru status at my firestation so I can promise you you’d be helping many more people than just myself if you hooked me up. Either way, keep up the good work, the information on this site has truly changed my life since I began reading it. Thanks!

you have the rest of the day (until 5:00pm PST)
to get in on this. I will announce the winners tomorrow after 9:00am pst.-Julianne

Coach Staley

I know absolutely nothing about EDT, but listening to jodgey talk about it, I’d like to give it a shot. I’m always looking for a new idea or workout. Variation is key in my book.

Thanks

Julianne,
I’d be delighted to view/review Coach Staley’s prize pack. I value the weekly newletter I receive, and recently have begun utilizing EDT for bicep/tricep training as outlined here on T-mag. Thanks.
old dogg

Please count me in…I certainly want to learn MORE about EDT! I used an EDT kettlebell workout designed by Mike Mahler…it definitely works!

Julianne, I would definitely like to receive the video pack. This is definitely one video set that will benefit me and my clients.

I would like to get the videos although I really don’t know much about EDT training.

I have been reading a lot of different articles on T-Mag and am still trying to figure out what a suitable program for me is going to be. Any additional help like this can only lead to greater gains.

Julianne,
I’d like to be considered for the prize pack as well. I’m new to the iron game (around 1 year), have lost a lot of weight and am now starting to work at putting on some muscles. I’d love to see what I can do with EDT.

Thanks for your consideration,
Tim

Julianne, I would love to win the gift pack you are giving away. I am trying to go into a bodybuilding show in Sept/Oct and I need all the help I can get. This would be great! I read and used the EDT-ARMS program about 2 months ago with great success and I would love more info on his theories! Especially the ABS!

Also, I am a personal trainer at a gym so I would love to relay the info to my clients to help them achieve better bodies. Again, especially the abs!

PLEASE PICK ME! PLEASE PICK ME!!!

PS. I also bought Training Nutrition Manager when it first came out and I love it!

CHARLES STALEY ROCKS!!!

Hi Coach. I’m somewhat new to T-Nation and honestly don’t know what EDT is. However, lately I’m becoming more and more frustrated with my training despite my better nutrition (due to articles and posts I’ve read). No matter what I do, it seems that I can never lose any more fat, I always just maintain my current body fat when working out, or gain weight when not working out. I would love to try out your videos and see if they can’t jump start my (young) lifting career and put me on the path to success. Thanks.

Hey Coach,

I am a recent convert to the T-nation and need some help catching up with the rest of these huge fellows  I have a growing family and a limited budget so the videos would he a huge bonus for me. I have been working on a new program for the next few months, so the timing is also perfect to incorporate your ideas. What reading I have done on EDT makes it sound awesome!

Coach Staley,
Actually the first time I heard about EDT was this morning and after a visit to www.edtsecrets.com I was so inspired I ordered the Massive arms book
Order ID: 835
Date: Monday, June 14, 2004. 11:11:02 AM. However, I think the videos would be even better!
thanks

I also won the EDT video’s in the drawing a few weeks ago and agree wholeheartedly with jodgey’s post. I felt like I had a decent grasp of Coach Staley’s concepts but having it presented in a conversational format is different. I feel like my comprehension is better and I was very motivated as well. I love the weekly newsletter too. I probably would never have purchased the videos had I not won them, but after watching these two I will definetely do so in the future.

Thanks Julianne!
