Clive's Vertical Jump and Dunk Log

OK, here goes. In my first post on Tnation I might as well get to the point of why I'm here. To jump higher and get stronger in the process. I am a recreational basketball player who will be playing in two leagues come January. Although I can definitely play, there is no real vertical dimension to my game. At 6"4' 195 pounds I can just barely put dunk with one (and two hands on a good day) off of two feet. The plan, so far, is to follow Kelly Baggot's line of thinking. To get strong with compound movements for the legs and sprinting and then throw in some good plyometric work down the road. I have just recently started training legs hard (squats deads ect), so keep in mind they are very weak. Also, I have no experience with Olympic lifts or access to reliable coaching so I am reluctant to do them due to a history of injury.

Hopefully as I work my way through this I can benefit from your expertise and you can benefit from hearing my trials and tribulations.

PS. PRs, vertical jump numbers (which I can assure you will be lame)coming soon, maybe even some video as well.

Anything else? Ask and you shall receive.

Pictures, PRs coming soon

Ugh, I kinda botched that post. Oh well, you guys get the point. Beginning with some basic questions: what type of rep/set scheme, splits and tempo should I be using when I work legs. So far I’ve been doing one session of squats, one of deadlifts each week about 4 times 10 on both followed by supplementary stuff exp hamstring curls with similar rep ranges. I’ve been coming down slow and pulling/pushing the bar fast
