hi, decided to post this in the beginner section cause i feel that it’s a pretty noob question.
my bw is currently 76-78kg. approx 15-16% bf? some muscle definition, wasit~hip ratio, top two abs visible
living in hostel in univeristy now
i’ve been cleaning up my diet for the past 3 weeks. a sample weekday would be,
meal1: 4tbsp oats, 3 raw/semi-raw eggs, 1 sc protein
m2: 1 bowl white rice, ~60-70g chicken breast, 2eggs (stingy school hawkers )
m3: 1 sc protein
m4: repeat m2
m5: repeat m2
m6: 1 sc protein
*throw in bananas, green tea, almonds, fish oil throughout the day.
i’ve brought alot of eggs to my dorm, and have been trying to up my egg white intake for more protein too. also upping the amount of oats i consume.
prior to this, i pretty much ate whatever i wanted. keeping in mind to eat more lean meats and not taking in much snacks. but it still wasn’t very clean at all.
my main goal is pretty much just to gain muscle and kick ass in the weight room. but i wanna keep the fat gain down, and if possible, lose some of that fat hopefully through eating cleaner.
Sorry to ruin your parade, that is not a ‘clean’ diet’. Get Vegetables and fruits in there and then possibly.
If it doesn’t fly, run, swim or grow out of the earth (ie was once living) then don’t eat it. The exclusion to this rule is throw all pork products in the bin to clean out your diet too despite it fitting into the above category.
I just don’t eat vegetaables. fruits are alright thouggh!
Humble: can I ask why its not clean? I guess its not as good as brown rice, omega3 faarm raaised eggs, but I make do with what I have at hostel. Why no pork though?

Sorry mate, try and get used to them. When you really do clean out from the inside, then your body will automatically crave them. Your body then begin to instinctively know what it needs and you mind responds with ‘feeling’ like certain veges and fruits.
This does require a really clean internal state though.
I guess it all depends on what your context of ‘clean’ is.
Clean for body building?
Clean for certain sports?
Clean for life?
Decide on which of those is most important and then work your clean diet to suit.
POrk is just shit. No fake science can prove otherwise. Worst meat on earth, period. Breeding ground for all things vile.
Bloody hell, first thing we do is call a filthy person a pig yet we eat the crap like it’s God’s gift to man.
It’s junk and I believe is the cause of a lot of internal havoc in humans.
You are what you eat. Stick to cleaner meats like fish, organic free range of course and same with poultry and free to roam and graze lamb and limited beef.

Any thing to back those personal opinions up with?

I would really like to see this as well. I mean, with all the pork I eat, am I going to keel over tomorrow?
OP: To answer your question, reducing the amount of calories you consume will result in fat loss, everything else remaining the same. Cleaning up your diet will provide you with the nutrients and the right balance of macros to keep the fat off, improve your health, and build muscle. You can lose fat eating nothing but chips, but you would not be better off for it. You have to think of eating clean as a long-term commitment, not a short-term answer to fat loss.

I think a better way to put that is that reducing calories will result in weight loss. How much of that is fat, muscle, glycogen, and water, depends on a lot of factors.

I actually ate almost just like you and lost 7lbs in a month, now am I condoning that eating only protein and brown rice is good, no. I only did that type of eating for 1 month because I was a noob at fitness and did not know what else to do. After I asked my doctor why I feel so crappy and I told him my diet he looked like he wanted to clean my clock. Eat vegetables, they do not mess with your macros (a lot) and are great for you. Eat a ton of them, as much as you can really. Fruits are great for morning and post workout I believe, I love all food which was my problem to begin with.
P.S. I used to love all food, last time I ate McDonalds (4 months ago) I threw up on the pavement
Cheers
If you want to lose fat just lower your caloric intake. Eating clean on a 3000 calorie diet is the same as eating dirty on a 3000 calorie diet. Eating cleaner will make you feel better and be healthier.
hi guys, thanks for the advice so far. about the pork…if there’re any research/articles on it i’d be happy to read it! i do understand the opinion on why people may think pork is dirty though…pigs and all…
even if some people believe that if it fits your macros, just eat it. i’m pretty sure it won’t be a very pleasant experience to just eat pizza and ice cream all the time. everything in moderation. i’ll be having cheat meals maybe 2-3 times throughout the week. so i’ll still be enjoying life. (: just wanna do it the proper way.
i’m not exactly looking for weight loss. just fat loss. main goal is to be stronger, relative to my bw. i play basketball, so i don’t exactly have to be huge, just more athletic.
anyone recommend carb cycling as the way to go? been reading up on it
To the OP, it won’t fit your macros if you’re eating ice cream and pizza all the time. The values in those foods suck. And there’s nothing wrong with eating clean, don’t get me wrong. There are huge benefits and most likely you will lose fat going on it. Just watch how much you’re eating and have a general knowledge of the protein and calories you’re consuming.

Don’t listen to the non-sense about pork…Humble’s just an elitist pig. you see what I did there =/
No need to carb cycle. Take the simplest approach first. Why complicate things?
