These are some q’s regarding the Cyclical Ketogenic Diet. I would be really happy if anyone would give me their feedback on these issues:
- When doing the last workout BEFORE the carb-up, which approach is trhe best- a) a high rep/ circuit style “depletion” workout where you dip into the last reserves of glycogen to achieve aupercompensation or
b) a high tension workout of lower reps, say 55 or 38 to gain/retain strength( and of course hypertrophy)?
- Has someone REALLY gained muscle while losing bf on this diet? Not using drugs.
I am preparing for a show on May 25th and I used a CKD with some of my own twists to prepare. I went 10 weeks depleting 6 days on 1600 perfect calories and loaded every Sunday, following leg training on 2500 perfect calories. The last 6 weeks I phased out of the CKD into a more typical consistent 1800 calories with a few zags on non-training days. Long story short it worked. I have dropped about 22 lbs. with no strength loss, seven weeks into dieting I set a PB in the deadlift. If you do it, do it right, use perfect fats (flax oil, almonds, fish oils, EFA) and superior proteins. I eat solid food as opposed to liquid if at all possible. Read some of Lyle McDonalds work and DD BodyOPS. Be mentally strong, will your self to continue to make strength gains. Its about the training and the hormonal control from the diet. Good Luck and Stay Focused
Thanks, but I would like some more info and feedback. You didnìt mention if you did low reps or depletion, high reps?
