Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome

Long time since I posted.

Developed chronic exertional compartment syndrome (CECS) in the lower legs. Peroneus longus on each calf would swell up painfully after running, walking in poor stability cushy sandals, hiking, etc.

Finally got in for the Stryker compartment pressures test. Anterior in the left leg measured 109mm Hg (Holy shit.)
Jan 2024, had bilateral fasciotomies of the lower limbs (4 compartments per calf, 8 total)

Pain is gone.

Lifting and climbing has been hell on the forearms. Pain in the shoulders, massive pumps in the biceps and forearms.

Had vascular ultrasounds done and they suspect Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, but also CECS in the forearms which is quite rare. MRI and manometry done on my forearms. Stryker test done on my forearms.

Max reading was 104mm Hg in my right arm. Again holy shit. (Normal muscle pressures should be 15-30 depending on literature you go by)

Since MRIs and the Stryker test conclude CECS for sure, I’ll be getting fasciotomies all round on my forearms ASAP.

There’s a possibility that compression was causing a pinch point on the radial/ulnar nerves and blood vessels and it’s causing the TOS.

I’ll actually be a case study on NIH soonish.

Cause? Well…grow really fast and the fascia isn’t elastic enough to stretch with the muscle volume, compressing the muscle, nerves, and blood vessels and causing pain. Could be a generic component as I was likely never supposed to be this large :upside_down_face::person_shrugging:

It’s interesting that we don’t seem to hear much about this from the biggest of the big on stage. Anyone hear of this being an issue with competitors? I don’t ever seem to see scars from fasciotomies.
