Christian Thibaudeau's OVT

Hey guys,
Has anyone used Christian Thibaudeau’s Optimized Volume Training. If so did you get good results? I’m training for mass and some strength.

Thanks

I have used OVT with tremendous results. Follow the guidelines closely. After going through it a few times I moved to 10 X 3 (new GVT). After this, I was enjoying my new strength gains so I started powerlifting.

Probably my most noteable gain on OVT was my bench going from 250-260 to 275 very quickly, and then 5-6 mos. later I got 315.

I used it and OVT II about 3 years ago and made some really good gains from the program.

Did you guys get mass gains, or more strength?

I initially tried to use OVT to reach the same objectives as CT - that is, lose body fat but maintain strength, but i found his dietary restrictions much too demanding. after increasing my calorie intake after the second week, i made substantial gains in all my lifts (compound and so-called “isolation”) but no real loss in body fat even though i “looked” better. after taking a week rest after completing most of the program, i went back to a more conventional strength program (5x5, 8x3) and had no trouble moving weights which i had previously thought as my current maximums.

since i didn’t afford more time to do any energy-system work since the lifting portion of the program was demanding both in effort and time, i was more focused in completing the program with the lifts and weights i had chosen than losing body fat. since that time, i have benefited greatly from having overall greater strength, but i’m soon to revisit OVT for fat loss as the primary goal.

I saw an increase in both.

Emre,
Sorry I missed your chat invite. I saw gains in mass and strength as well.

Let me know if you want some sample workouts, I think I may have some on a spreadsheet.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I’ve decided to go for Christian Thibaudeau’s OVT. Even though I only really want to put on size. But the strength would be handy.
Thanks

Thanks for the offer for now, I’m okay. I’ll follow what’s on the program. Ofter if I get stuck I’ll give you a pm about the spreadsheets.

Thanks

Just finished it actually.

I maintained the same weight. Started 197 ended 197. Lost about 20lbs of fat.

Each work out should take about an hour once you get used to the program.
