WHY SO SERIOUS???

If something, or in this case someone, is causing him a distraction then they’re going to be at the receiving end of that intensity. You can’t just turn that on and off like a lightswitch. It’s simliar to a prize fighter who keeps attacking after the ref tries to stop the action.

On top of that, there is an ENORMOUS amount of pressure that goes into making these movies. It isn’t all glitz and glamour- that stuff is a smokescreen by the marketing people. Making a movie is hard, humbling work where everyone needs to be at the top of their game. A screw up that messes up a take wastes time and money, and no movie no matter how big can waste either.

But what do I know, I’m only a producer on an indie movie trying to make it in the biz.

I don’t know, man, I guess everyone screws up at times, but this was totally over the top, IMO.
Totally over the top? Come on! Where do you live? In the Kingdom of Kindness or something?
Sure he overreacted but who never did once? Nothing that bad.

FUCK IT!! WE’LL DO IT LIVE!!!

Yes, dipshits because we found it to be obnoxious and over the top. That’s brilliant.
Yes, dipshits because you think you can pass judgement without the full picture.

Seriously, it was funny. Get over yourself.

This is what happens when you have Gloria Steinem as your step-mom.

The remix was funny. So, you’re trying to bash people for passing judgement, but brand us as dipshits over that? You, sir, truly have a stunning intellect.

Yeah, I still stand by that. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen anyone scream and rant and rave for minutes on end like that, except maybe for the disturbed homeless people on the street that probably think they’re yelling at the Devil. It seems to me that it’s just unacceptable no matter who you are, and whether you live in the Kindom of Kindness or not.

What’s funny is that those who quickly came to his defense and accuse some of us of being ‘upset’ about it (I’m really not) seem to be more upset than the rest of us.

Mak, that would have been great advice to Bale. I mean he’s and ACTOR! It’s not like he’s on the front lines taking shots from enemies every day. He’s on a movie set. Save the screaming for real life and death situations.

Calm the fuck down indeed.

Late to this thread… I would have flew off the handle if I were the victim of that tirade. We would have been scrapping. Yeah, the director of photog was probably wrong, but Bale shouldn’t have gone off like that. Yep…we would have had to trade blows. It’d probably make it into the movie…

Seriously. Damn.

(I’m going to follow you around all day agreeing, ID.)

Another thing the news article noted was that it happened 2 separate occasions. Once when when the DP screwed up and again after the shoot when the DP apologized. That is more than a bit much in my opinion.

I still like Bale. Have ever since equilibrium. That would change if it comes out he was in truth beating his mom or something serious.

I think it’s pretty funnier. Would have been better gossip if the DP had some balls and had stood up for himself or they had gotten in a fight.

Yes, this would have been awesome! As Vicomte pointed out, we would all be laughing about it if that had happened, instead of focusing on talking bad about Bale.

There’s only two things crew members need to do when not actively working in a scene- shut the fuck up and stay out of the way. Also keep in mind that grip may or may not have been dicking around on set before that. We don’t know all the circumstances. Yeah he went over the top a bit, but I completely understand why Bale flipped out.

Yep, if you’ve ever done TV or film or commercials, those are the two biggies. There’s a lot of work that goes into film production and having some bonehead move set everyone back is not looked upon highly.

Matko5 said:He is a Method actor…just what I was gonna say.

Method acting is an acting technique in which the actor aims to engender in him- or herself the thoughts and emotions of his or her character in an effort to create a life-like performance.

Its an intense state James Dean and Marlon Brando were guilty of the same thing on set. These actors are not regular people like us they tap into a rawness that we could never touch. Because I know this, I understand what happened.

According to that the DP is really at fault for christian going off. If it’s true I completely back Bale.

No, I’m trying to rile people like you up. Apparently it’s working, so I’m laughing.

Good day to you, good sir.

If he didn’t fly off then handle, I wouldn’t have had such a good chuckle.

It was “verbal abuse”.
