ah fuck it, this is pointless, maybe next time ill post a video. I just kind find a good enough picture. I swear, that pic aint what i see in the mirror, but am never gonna have substantial proof, first time in months i have been called thin…im gonna go hang myself
am 5’9 by the way
We know it isn’t what you see in the mirror.

Look, I’ve complimented you…but right now, you are really acting your age.

That would be fine if you hadn’t already shown you are capable of more.
is that you in that pic? Those are huge guns
Yes, that’s me. The arms were as big as yours when I started.

Post less.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, but holy shit, kid, you really want someone to tell you how swole you are.

But you aren’t.

Not yet.

You may be eventually because you have all of the basic tools to get there.

It’s your head that’s in the way.

actually im quite comfortable with how i look, although i want more, what i wanted was to keep the thread going, not really to hear how swell i am. You guys seem to be getting irritated so am gonna stop, but seriously i appreciate all the help and im not even offended in the least…was just seeking attention

Stop seeking attention. Stop being like every other melodramatic teenager out there. Stop seeking validation from people and simply find validation within yourself.

In other words stop being a pussy.

Lift big shit, eat lots of food, grow. It’s as simple as that.

I coach 189 high school aged youths, most of the girls I coach have more muscle than you currently - not insulting you just simply stating a fact. If you stop worrying about your abs and looking pretty (you’ll probably refute you care about this blah blah blah) and simply start eating big and lifting big you will grow.

You are 16, weightlifting is a life long passion. Figure out why you are training in the first place, don’t get complacent with teenagers’ remarks. Know it within yourself that achieveing your goals is only the bare minimum, exceeding it would be the correct attitude. Is your ultimate goal to be adulated by members of TNation? Success and Excellence comes after Accomplishment.

you seem to be the only person here who can look at it logically…ill pose this argument, and i expect you,in good faith,to debate it with me, am not being stubborn, i just want a good debate with you cause you have always given me good advice

first check the difference between the comments when i put the first picture and the comments after i put the second, at first they said you are doing well for a teenager but could be bigger, then did i argue? I took the advice and was willing to get evrybody’s opinion, nobody praised me and i was o.k cause am not looking for praise am looking for advice and what they said seemed very logical to me, then after i put the second everybody started to turn on me, calling me skinny, smaller than high school girls, nonexistant.

I would be o.k with this if it was what i was getting from the begining but why the sudden change in opinions? I know for a fact that am not skinny…lean, yea, small, okay. But not skinny. Personally i am not looking for anybody’s praise, i get enough praise everyday…

i am looking for honest opinion, and beforehand i was taking advice and critism very well cause then you guys were looking at me in a way that i thought was about right, nobody praised me then and i didnt complain. So you answer me this why are the opinions then and now so different? And dont say cause i showed you a more accurate pic cause this one was taken around sept and the one on my user profile was taking early january. And please macmade this message is just for you, your the only person who i want to answer it

It’s actually the theobromine in chocolate that provides it with the cool effects. It acts as a mild CNS stimulant (same mechanism as caffeine I believe, but less effective) and vasodilator. In reality, the difference is likely negligible, but I still like to scarf down some chocolate before I hit the gym. Dark chocolate is best for this.

Oh, sorry, looks like I’ve gone off-topic.

I’ll leave it to the two sixteen year olds here to congratulate each other for not listening to the people who have a clue.

Smiley face

Ok, I have to say this:

Nobody turned on you. Several large, strong and smart people gave you what is known as a REALITY CHECK. They have been where you are now: SKINNY.

You were given honest opinions and good advice by people who have seen countless kids such as yourself on these boards. You’re seeing insults when there were none and are flipping out over nothing.

Seriously, hang around and read the forums a bit, especially the beginners forum.

Good luck to you.

p.s. That picture up there is of Vic Richards when he was your age and had only just started lifting weights. Hopefully it gives you some perspective of what is and is not skinny.

Woah…all i said was smiley face

I know you said you only wanted Macmade to respond to this, but let me just say something important about self-perception (and it’s something you need to think about rather than respond to if you want to get where you want to go). You took your avatar pic yourself, and you wouldn’t have posted it if it wasn’t how you see yourself in the mirror; the posing, distance, lighting, all contribute positively to how you look in that pic. So that’s how you see yourself in your mind’s eye.

The second photo has you standing relaxed without any tricks or gimmicks to fall back on (probably because someone else took it and you couldn’t play around with looking your best). It’s a well-taken, good quality pic, so there’s nothing to suggest that it’s unflattering or doesn’t show you as you or your friends see you.

The second pic is how you really look, and the first is how you see yourself in the mirror. We know how you perceive yourself and the second photo is the most accurate impression of what you really look like - even if you don’t believe that.

Lol, thanks anyway you guys. You have been very helpfull, back to the drawing board

X how do you type with those huge arms? Doesnt the keyboard like break or something

Don’t be disheartened. It’s not a case of back to the drawing board. I’m simply pointing out that like in any endeavor, you have to spend the most time on weak areas to really excel. You can’t do that by taking a photo of yourself that hides your weak areas and say that’s how you look to yourself and everyone around you. You’re only fooling yourself in the long run.

Don’t get too hung up on abs either, especially if you look up to someone like Ryan Reynolds. Much of the definition you see on screen was airbrushed on (see the make up around the pec line and abs?)…

Yea , i get your point. Thanks, …i wasnt hiding my weak points, i was just posting pics randomly, the avatar pic being the most recent…am not disheartened, am just glad you took the time to level with me, you were as logical as can be, and am not hung up on abs, i dont even train abs, they are genetic, i train chest more often, mostly with the dips. And gironda dips are awesome , you guys should try it, took my chest from 34 to 37 almost overnight. Maybe its time to change idols, still love reynolds though

It’s not about the order of the pics; you had to ask why the feedback had changed after you posted photo #2. Now, as I said, if you’d have taken that second picture yourself, it would have looked completely different.

Let’s not kid ourselves: everybody who aspires to a Ryan Reynolds-type build fixate on his abs because they are his showpiece muscle, and someone of your age would be swayed by compliments from your peers. You know your abs are a strong point - your avatar pose attests to that…

I’m a movie fan myself, so I know the reality behind the transformations. That’s why I posted that Ryan Reynolds photo to show you that he doesn’t walk around like that. He and every other actor asked to gain muscle for a role has had to gain a little more body fat than they’d like, then diet it off at the end.

Actors have only recently started to admit that - Henry Cavill, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans are honest about the realities of training to gain. What they say is what any serious member on this site would tell you. Weird, huh? Prior to that people thought celebs like Reynolds gained muscle without an ounce of added fat. Which wasn’t true, but the ‘fans’ - usually young and not knowing any better - tried to do it the same way.

We had an influx of these people a few years back. Some were trolls, more were serious.

…and most were just stupid and thought they were one of the lost Spartans.

I don’t know about that…have you ever seen a ‘bulked-up’ actor? With top of the line nutrition, training, and probably the assistance of drugs, I can’t imagine any actor NEEDING to plump up, just to shed the fat later.

Not to mention ‘gaining muscle’ for an actor means going from 160 to 180…hardly necessary for them to put on fat.

?

Why would an actor take pictures when at their worst shape?

I see some of you using this logic as to why you don’t see a lot of fat pics of Lee Priest even though bodybuilders like he, Nasser and Dorian all bulked up. No one was trying to take pics of these guys when at their fattest back then especially since it was common place before youtube to do that.

If you’d read the interviews where the actors have SAID they’ve had to diet before shooting then you would “know about that”…what’s more, you won’t see photos of bulked-up actors because it spoils the illusion. Hemsworth seemingly disappeared off the face of the planet for ten months while prepping for Thor. He wasn’t filming a movie during that time…the worst part is that people credit drugs for the end result.
