Chocolate and Chillis

nice fronties!!
I think its the camera angle too. I noticed this on a few of your vids that there’s no way you could have been lopsided. is the camera on a uneven shelf?

I don’t have any suggestions (YAY LULA) but I did notice that left side is a little down by the end of your cleans too. Hmmmm.

Nice squats and cleans, regardless!

It was good when I could view full screen.

Nice cleans. I would do them myself except that that is how I first started my lingering hamstring strain.

In the elbows up position, there’s a groove formed by your anterior delt to hold the bar. Pendlay has said that in his experience, most women due to less upper body muscle mass won’t have much of a groove there (as compared to men).

When you have both elbows up to start the set the bar is even. As you go down, (I’m assuming due to most people including myself being like this) your left arm due to being weaker and having less of a groove because of a smaller anterior delt (again assuming) will lead to the bar rolling out. I would venture to guess that when you weren’t using straps and couldn’t pull with your left hand to help, you had to over-compensate even more with your right arm/shoulder which due to bearing the brunt of the weight will get stressed.

Lots of assuming on my part, but just my .02

edit to add: watched the video again -note how as your left elbow gets lower and lower than your right elbow, the bar gets more and more uneven; when the elbows are at the same plane at the start of the set is when the bar is level; personally, my right shoulder is a little lower than my left, and I have to compensate by having my left (I think) hand out wider so that the bar sits more level on my shoulders to start

This makes a ton of sense. I read it a few times and I think you’re right about the dominant side versus non-dominant side. Since I switched to holding the bar with the straps, my right wrist and elbow are better. However, doing them like that uses a lot more bicep.

I’ve played around a bit with my stance and it appears to be paying dividends. I brought my feet in a bit. Turned my feet more forward and set up about 4 inches behind the bar. That forces me to pull back more than up.

We finished with a new toy we made from plumbing bits bought at Home Depot. It mimics a KB but is also good for rowing and strongman duck walks if you’re so inclined. It’s made with one 3/4" pipe Tee fitting, one 3/4" x 12" pipe nipple for the vertical shaft(a pipe nipple is a piece of pipe, threaded at both ends)two 3/4" x 4" pipe nipples for the “horns”, or better, one 3/4" x 8" nipple cut in half one 3/4" floor flange. I found the directions on Dave Drapers website. I would recommend 3" nipples for handles unless you have large hands because I ripped the inside of my legs with the pipe threading. It cost about $15 to make and works very well. You can load however many plates you want on it.

T-bar swings

We used 1" plates that I’ve got.

This didn’t load with my last post.

coolest garage ever.

Especially in January. It kind of goes from cool to nipple chipping cold

I think I am going to get some creatine.

Do most powerlifters take it? I forgot it existed.

When I grow up i wanna be strong, just like you!

That’s cool new homemade toy! I may get my son to work one up, but yes, ouch on the rubbing on the thighs…
He made Indian clubs from pipe and bb’s to help rehab and prehab shoulder work.

Nice PR!! I consider 315 a big milestone, congratulations!!

I was just fighting with myself to pull up not back the other day, interesting that you mention it.

sweet new toy! i love toys.

So despite all the work we did yesterday, I had ants in my pants and wanted to try a challenge. BB had shown me the Titan Ram Challenge at the Arnold. The female winner was 135lbs and she benched body weight 21 times using the Ram. I don’t have a Ram. I have my own home made thing which may give more or less than the ram.

I did 15 reps of 135 with my thing. I turned out to be kind of tough.

awesome vids!

yeah, looked like the bar was slipping further down your shoulder…
i know i need a fairly narrow grip in the rack or the bar won’t stay put. tight wrist wraps can help a lot. nice looking cleans. check out your veiny arms!!

I admire you inventiveness. I tend to just throw money at the things I want, which is very lazy.

ouro, what cold?

I improvise a lot with my home setup. I posted on my journal the other day what my old squat setup was when kpsnap wondered. I use a basic metal frame walker with no basket or wheels for dips.

Adelaide between Oxford and Cheapside (but not Adelaide Gardens).

Bloody hell with the Fanshawe students the other day. And i thought Richmond Row had the smell of beer coming off the sidewalks.
