Have you all been dry up there as well? I thought that was an OK and southwest thing!?
Nice deads. Your grip comment reminded me that mine sucks. Maybe I should do some carries. That would be interesting, trying to weave my way through the gym like that.
Skip, we had the 2nd driest May on record for the area and have the 2nd driest 3 month ( Mar-May)period on record…after record snowfalls this winter…This AM it 45 degrees…its freakin’ June come on already…although nice sleeping weather, windows open, cool breeze, awesome.
That is good sleeping weather. If it is in the 50’s or below, we put a fan in the window to draw it in. So nice when mother nature helps with the power bill.
Yeah, the amount of snow that fell up there was pretty insane. Talk about mountains of it.
Where do they put it? Once they clear the street, aren’t the sidewalks covered in 10’ of it?
Skip- Yeah in the cities the sidewalks were in many cases not passable. But what they do is truck the snow to snow farms where they now have large portable but enormous furnaces that they dump into to melt the snow… Down here where I live which is about 20 miles south of Boston they truck the snow to the beach parking lots and or the back corners of malls and dump it and then cover with dark mulch or dirt or ash to help with melting…
In some cases they received special permits from the Fed’s to dump directly into ocean because they ran out room… On my street which doesn’t have side walks, it got so narrow that they had to turn into one way cause you couldn’t get by.
I wish is was 45 degrees here at night but we’re lucky to get down to 70. Pretty soon it will be a low of 80 degrees here at night. Well we do have Disney though so I guess it all evens out.

The new avatar cracks me up. The perfect expression for so many situations…
Looked up the Pallof Press. That is different. Not sure what to think of it. Not that it matters, since I’m not doing it.
I bet after a couple of weeks of it, though, it is harder for someone to take your beer.
Skip- Beer, that reminds me I have to go buy some beer!! Pallof is great for oblique work
Tmill, foam, stretchy, dislocates

Kev- In order to do a Litle Strick Press one must be a) massive, b) massively strong so that when you re-rack the weight the power rack wobbles and c), massive…I don’t qualify but it makes me feel good

I figured out what has been bugging my bicep…it’s Pendlay rows, trying to explode off the bottom I’m jerking the weight instead of taking slack out first… who says an oldgoat can’t learn new tricks
Paul, anymore, I am only massive around the mid-section (I don’t think that is where you are suggesting) and this rack (squat rack) doesn’t wink, wobble or give a rip about the weight I am dumping on it. Might need a new name…
Just pondering your upper body days…are you doing push/pull in each workout? Wondering where the programming came from, or what’s behind it.
One day I will be able to do 5th of the pull-ups you and Steve do. Then I’ll feel all grown up.

I have a feeling the squat rack will pay dearly in the end!
As far as my programming, basically I’m using 5/3/1 for the “main lift” and base building or adding reps ( trying to be 8-12 reps) to assistance stuff that follows. On my upper days I am indeed doing push pull each time. Since doing this, and actually focusing more on pulling my shoulders feel good, real good, as good as anytime in my adult life… The other aspect of what I am doing is something that I stole and its basically “same but different”. So my assistance work on my C&P day is incline BP for some volume… Whereas on my BP day its Flat BP Paused using 5/3/1 and the assistance work is MP ( Little Strick Press) to compliment the C&P… I figured since I’m only lifting 3 days a week, it’s 10 days or so between repeat days; so by doing a similar lift but with volume I’m hoping the complimentary aspect pays dividends without being taxing from a strength standpoint. I don’t know if any of that makes sense or would be considered logical, but it’s what I am doing. I’m going to test my lift at the end of July to gauge the effectiveness. (gulp)
Thanks for the write up. That does make sense. And I agree 100% on the shoulders. My left is a tad tweaky, but doing a pull after the push definitely makes me feel much better. If I don’t, my shoulder are drawn forward and ache.
I’ll be interested to see how this works out for you. Since you are so consistent with getting it done, I think it is just a question of how much you have improved.
Tmill, foam , stretchy, dislocates …had to lift on back to back days cause I’m heading to SC to see my Dad and wont be in the gym again until Tuesday

Snatch Grip DL 5x225, 3x255, 2x285, 285 ( bar kept slipping and turning, no grip ,hands and forearms not recovered from pull ups, disappointed as I was going to try and sneak in a PR at 305) suck suck suck
Heading down to “God’s country”, as my grandmother would have said. Yes, she was a South Carolinian. Hope you have a great trip/visit and that everything is well.
