Actually no, it doesn’t. I have no idea how she got it. None of us do. I’m giving a couple alternative ways she could’ve got it.

Perhaps. Or maybe she is the dude who punched the monitor. Now wouldn’t that be a mindfuck lol.

I like your thinking. Maybe they are hoping to get a reality show and this was all planned!
OG, neglectful parents will be neglectful parents, what they do when not paying attention to their kids is irrelevant, it’s not likely that they started playing WoW and suddenly found themselves somehow unable to stop and look after their baby. Scum is scum.
Think this video pretty much sums up my feelings on this thread:

except it isn’t just neglectful parents. I also posted about deaths due to video games but not by neglect.
The problem isn’t video games, it is addiction to video games. Some people can drink and not be addicted some can’t, some people can shop and not be addicted, some can’t, some people can have sex and not be addicted, some can’t.
And regarding the video taping of the incident, it is just what people seem to do with everything these days.
Does it matter whether or not he gave her his password?

No. That might even make it worse.
if games are an addiction, what will you say about people who spend hours in the gym, plan every meal, count calories, and post on forums about their training? ![]()

It’s just like drugs with those people. They spend HOURS doing it and it doesn’t even pay the bills. I have heard some are weighing over 250lbs…which is INSANE!!!
I see no problem at all with a girl torching their home gyms, their gym passes and throwing high fat/sugar weight gainers into everything cooked without the lifter knowing. Once they can’t lift and gain a mysterious 40lbs, maybe they will wake up!

If your post was directed at me I already addressed this. Some people have an addiction problem with some things, others don’t. I know I am addicted to coffee and I know some people who don’t even like it. I don’t mean oh I get my Starbucks in the morning. I calculated that I drink almost 110 ounces of coffee a day and the thought of not having it makes me nervous.
Addiction is detrimental when it negatively impacts your life. (that isn’t a circular argument) My coffee may be negatively impacting my life by frying my endocrine system.
Addiction is feeling so compelled that you can’t not do it despite everything to the contrary. If you still think that applies to your taking care of yourself than I’m just going to have to disagree with your definition of addiction.
You tell me what addiction is.

Still no comparison. Making art is a worthwhile endeavor. There’s an intrinsic value to art in its final form, as well as the satisfaction of the creative process.
What’s the value (other than entertainment) with playing a virtual game? What does he come away with, or bring to the relationship?
Oh I forgot… bragging rights with his WoW buddies.
Hey, I’m all for unwinding while participating in entertaining activities. I’ve played some virtual games myself, but not to the point where they’ve jeopardized my relationships with loved ones, or the time I could be doing something worthwhile.
Based on the gf’s narration, she’s obviously frustrated with him, and most likely has addressed it at least once with him… for her to react so extreme as she did. And based on his immature reaction, he obviously has a problem.
Are you stupid? You’re whole argument is based on YOUR opinion of WoW. I don’t play WoW, but its easy to see how much of a hypocrite you are. Watch what I do here:
“What’s the value (other than entertainment) with playing a virtual game? What does he come away with, or bring to the relationship?”
What is the value of RECREATIONAL art other than entertainment? What the FUCK does (what you consider) recreational art bring to a relationship, other than entertainment? If you are not making a living off of art, you are not bringing ANYTHING to the relationship other than entertainment.
But wait, wait, painting can be an activity that both couples partake in, bonding with each other and strengthening the relationship!
So can WoW…they can play together.
But, but - art is something that the man can do to impress the women!
So can WoW…the woman can admire his characters.
“Playing WoW is a worthwhile endeavor. There’s an intrinsic value to WoW in its final form, as well as the satisfaction of the creative process.”
Wouldn’t a WoW player be satisfied with his character “in its final form”, after training it for many months? Wouldn’t a WoW player be satisfied with training his character day by day, leveling up, and creating a more powerful character (what you call “creative process”)?
Don’t you see? WoW is an art form, too. Art is defined as “the process or product of deliberately arranging elements in a way to affect the senses or emotions.” WoW players invest countless amounts of time into CREATING their characters. Into “sculpting” their characters, if you will. You see, if I use terms you’re familiar with, you begin to understand how futile your stance is.
As an aside, its pretty sad that you call the guy in the video a “little fuck”. You know absolutely nothing about the situation, in fact you are completely IGNORANT to his side of the story. As others have said, for all we know he plays 2 hours a day and his girlfriend is a huge attention craving whore who gets a sadistic pleasure out going on power trips (ie screwing up his WoW accounts). I mean honestly dude, its painfully obvious how biased you were from the beginning.
I see people like you all the freaking time, trying to be fucking “white knights”. Oooh oooh he needs to pay her more attention oooh oooh she should dump his ass too! etc etc. Please shut the fuck up you pussy whipped bitch.
/end ownage
1.) The reaction was completely uncalled for. I can’t believe anyone thinks that type of shit is OK.
2.) The G/F clearly knew what would happen, that’s why she video taped it. Since we don’t know the circumstances, the guy may have very well had it coming. Or maybe not. Clearly they need to break up, though.
3.) A WoW account has NO VALUE; all the analogies made here are ridiculous! What one person works for over 1000’s of hours in any game can be recreated in a matter of seconds simply by altering some fucking database tables. This makes it a completely unproductive use of time, unlike other hobbies mentioned here in the thread.
4.) Yeah, I’m late to the party, and didn’t read the whole thread, and am probably saying shit already said.

Video games can definitely be an addiction, while they may not have as serious of consequences as drugs/porn/gambling, they can without question still be addicting. The social aspect of the addiction can be much the same as any other addiction- less time with friends, not happy, very tense/moody etc.
I’m to lazy to link it right now, but if you google video game rehabs or something like it, they have them in Asia. I wouldnt go as far as saying WoW addicts are on the same boat as alcoholics, but some people just get sucked in really quickly. I did a wilderness program after getting in some legal trouble right after sophomore year of HS and one of the kids there was at this place for WoW.
Jail for couple whose baby died while they raised online child
addicted to their video game
Shit, thats crazy. I read somewhere (I think ~2 years ago) about maybe 2 or 3 cases of people playing online for such long times they died. Lack of water or something.
In all fairness, they respawned about 10 seconds later. All are doing fine now.
LMFAO you just won the thread.
I would simply beat the shit out of her then make her rebuild all my characters playing 10 hours a day at least.
October girl. Filming someone who doesn’t know they are being filmed, especially a bf/gf, and putting it for all to see is horrible and wrong. Regardless of it people do it all the time (they don’t)
Addiction to something that causes withdrawl symptoms to the body that the conscious and subconscious mind has no control over is not the same as a crazy retard who was lucky enough to have lived as long as they did not drinking while playing a video game.

I never said it was okay to film someone in that situation. Go back and read my posts.
Regarding any comments I made about videoing the incident, things like this are being videoed more and more often so I asked if it was the need for attention or just an accepted norm now, if it is people seeking approval from the masses by posting for comment on Youtube. I never said it was okay.
Addiction isn’t limited to an ingested or injected or smoked or in anyway introduced to the body substance.
Not sure what you are saying in your second paragraph.

I think he’s just trying to say that WoW isn’t the same as crack, cocaine, crystal meth, and alcohol when it comes to addiction.
Other than that, this thread should have ended a while ago.
“A girl who played World of Warcraft died in real life and the friends she had met in the game planned an in-game funeral for her. They posted about the event on the message boards and urged people not to bust it up. I don’t think I need to explain what happened; the video speaks for itself.”
