Then today I realized, why have I been doing the same thing repeatedly? I have become stagnant and see no progress. Plus I read somewhere else that perhaps focusing more on Incline first may give better results?
Does anyone have any suggestions as to the order of exercises to be performed for chest? Or does it not matter, as long as I vary it over time?
Good ques. You should mix things up evry couple of weeks or so. AS far as incline I just read an article by Labrada…I know don’t shoot me, he was saying that only the lower third of the movement on the incline is benifical for chest development. Also why do you not performe barbell presses?
Do you not have a spotter? My first suggestion would be some sort of bar work. Flat, incline, and decline. If you can do them, just start off with one of them for a few weeks, then switch to another. If you’re doing bar work for chest, start with that.
How often do you work out your chest? If it’s more than once a cycle, with a cycle being every X number of days or every week, depending on how you’ve set it up, then you should definitely have two different chest workouts.
As for exercise order, it doesn’t matter if you hit incline or flat first, but try to alternate every few weeks. If you’re using a bar movement, do that first, then hit the dumbells (most of the time). For example, start with incline bar, then flat dumbell.
Also, I think exercise variety is pretty important. Change the basic money movements slowly over time, but be more flexible with the secondary movements (flyes, hammer strength, etc.).
I hear you guys. I dunno, for some reason I’ve had it engraved in my brain not to change my routines. Somewhere along the line when I was 16 or so someone told me to stick with a routine so you can better gauge your progress. Actually that someone was probably me
I know it’s complete bullshit but I can’t help but feel compelled to do the same exercises over and over so I can compare with the previous week exactly how many reps I did for how much weight and measure progress that way.
I know I’m wrong and I’m starting (finally) to change. Yesterday I started with incline presses instead of flat. Whoa did it feel wierd. In today’s arm workout I’m going to make some changes as well… I hope this helps my progress.
You want a change and help shcoking your body? Try out OVT. I’m actually on Week 1 (again. I should be on week 3 but after week 1 the first time, I got food poisoning and missed week 2). It kicks ass. Intense
