Today was fun. My old training partner was back (long story). He’s gone from 270 to 230 in @ 8 weeks. He’s beat the 'Betes and sleep apnea. He’s still ugly and strong.

Wait, what’s this? You own a new gym? Or work there?

Awesome. You’ve got as many toys there as the place I’m training.

Cav, we grew out of our old location. We found a cheap place and our team is covering rent with a little extra $$ to go into an equipment slush fund.

Old school squat rack, Zercher cradle, and some other stuff made its way to The Yard.

So your place is called “The Yard”? Neat name. I once trained at a place in Dallas called “The Gym”, which was halfway between a commercial gym and real hardcore place.

Hey, if you like skull crushers, try what I saw one guy doing the other day. Skull crushers . . . with a bamboo bar . . . with kettlebells hanging on with elastic bands. Boy, do you learn control.

Cav, we’re still 22nd Street Barbell, although we’re now on SW 5th St. We refer to it as The yard because it has a prison yard feel with the chain link fence we put up.

Sounds like the hard core feeling is setting in for a great gym.

Cut out early, there’s some nasty weather bearing down on us. Managed to get up to 35 on the freeway home. They’re calling for 8-10" of snow overnite. Looks like a white christmas afterall.

Badass gym and training looks solid.
My kids would love a white Christmas but it’s not going to happen this year.

Sat up and watched the blizzard last night. Witnessed thundersnow. Haven’t seen that in @ 10 years. Ended up with 11-12" overnite. Wind blowing 30-45mph today. I-35 and I-80 are closed. Another day in paradise. Snowed in and played board games with the kids since we were without power until @ 3pm. I’m good at Clue, suck at Sorry, and mediocre in the game of Life. Twister would’ve put me in traction.

Did last night work today at commercial gym. DOT and city crews have the roads in good shape.

Living in Florida, we hardly ever see snow here. I love the snow and cold but I don’t know if I could live in some of the places you might get thunder snow. I would like to see the thunder snow at least once. I lived in Colorado for a number of years but never saw thunder snow.

Nick Weite was back for the holidays and dropped by our gym. He’s 9 weeks out from the Arnold. He worked up to 730x2 on deadlift. He’s as humble as he is strong.

Doing some nice lifting, Hawkman.

My gym’s in Columbus, and I know one guy who competes in the Arnold. (I’m sure we have more than one.) He was complaining about how hard things get when you turn 40. I said “Yeah? Wait till you get to 56!”

Great new gym. So cool to have a group to train with. What town are you in? May drop in if I drive across country this summer.
