Buying roasts are big money/saver for me. Last night I cooked a 4 pound top round roast (it only cost me $1.50 a pound.)That’s enough meat for about 10 meals!
If you’ve got refrigerator space, eggs get cheaper the more you buy. Go to the grocery store often, keep your eye on the meat section and snatch up anything that is reduced to see before the expiration date, throw it in the freezer. You can’t beat buffalo meat for $1.49 a lb, or organic ground beef for $.99 a lb. Yeah buddy.
Buy in bulk - I’m still lucky (and young) enough to avoid paying for my own food, but our grocery bills would be even higher if we didn’t buy from Costco. Envision is right, most stuff there, organic or otherwise, can usually be found at a very good price in large quantities. A membership is worth it.
Have you heard of a store called “The Bulk Barn” if so and theres one close to where you are going to college then drop by there! I buy everything there "Keep in mind that its all stuff thats “non parishable” so you wont find your 4lb roasts or 14 dozzen eggs in there but Its great for buying things like almounds/almound flour and all kinds of nuts, pasta’s, beans nut butters and all shorts of stuff that’s at least half price from your local grocery store!

Forgot to add - I too am going to start College in Sept and the money will be tight.
Is a strict BB diet really that much more expensive than a normal average persons diet?[/quote]
The amount of food I eat alone would send some college students packing home. I’m thinking about taking out some student loans to pay my food bill alone! lol jk no debt for me please.
Lucky enough for me I have a decent job and get hooked up with quite a bit of supplements, so that leaves more money for food. I also have a family that supports my bodybuilding habit and sends food, or money for food, etc. I asked my mom if she would rather me fry my liver from some steroids or from drinking at the bar on weekends lol only kidding about the liver thing…really had that convo with the mom tho
I actually spend the most money on my food (more than anything else), so I’m always at Trader Joes, because they have some of the stuff that’s harder to find. It’s also not that expensive.
But yah, Costco = good savings. You can buy a lot of meats, grains and just about anything in bulk.
I personally spend about $100-150 a week in food, but I have it down so everything runs out right at the end of the week.

So I know there have been a few posts/threads on stuff like this; and I took some ideas from what I could find…but couldn’t find all.
In a few months (sept) my college loans will be coming back to me and I need to start preparing to tighten up my money.
So; with that in mind, I wanted to start a list of cheap foods (cheap is used loosely with how things are today)
Please feel free to add; for I am a picky eater and didn’t add everything.
