Cheap Foods

Dude, bananas make you fat.

Everyone knows that.

Those roasts sound like a way better deal than my 2 cents but check out the Shaw’s, Market Basket, Price Chopper, etc. flyers every week. I usually buy 1.99/lb chicken, 2.99 steak, 1.99/lb pork (all of these are more than double if they aren’t on sale and/or you don’t use the supermarkets’ respective discount cards, all of which I believe are free), and they aren’t all that bad quality-wise.

Also, try going towards the stores’ closing as some of the managers try to get rid of some of the meat by marking their prices down pretty heftily. I’ll be showered with about 70,000 dollars in student loans 2 semesters from now and once I get out of grad school a couple years later I might very well be eating in a soup kitcken so this thread better still be around then!

Have you heard of a store called “The Bulk Barn” if so and theres one close to where you are going to college then drop by there! I buy everything there "Keep in mind that its all stuff thats “non parishable” so you wont find your 4lb roasts or 14 dozzen eggs in there but Its great for buying things like almounds/almound flour and all kinds of nuts, pasta’s, beans nut butters and all shorts of stuff that’s at least half price from your local grocery store!

www.bulkbarnfoods.com

Also they sell BCAA’s, vitamin’s and protein at really good prices as well! [/quote]

i wouldn’t exactly call their nuts and seeds cheap in price

over here in ontario their regular price for “natural almonds” is $15 per kg, maybe $10 per kg if they have a sale

others like brazil nuts, macademia nuts and walnuts can go up near $20 per kg with stuff like pumpkin seeds as low as $9 per kg

you can get a big bag of almonds from costco for about half the price per kg

now if you want dried grains or legumes then bulk barn is a pretty good deal

Crock pot + big fucking roast

or

Crock pot + lots of chickens

=

godsend

I went to school upstate NY, it takes a special breed to want to be there all winter, what school do you go to?

And there is nothing wrong with being a Yankee or Giant fan! 18-1!

Totally off topic but I put $100 on the giants to beat the patriots straight up and it was a great day… cashed out 300.

So I know there have been a few posts/threads on stuff like this; and I took some ideas from what I could find…but couldn’t find all.

In a few months (sept) my college loans will be coming back to me and I need to start preparing to tighten up my money.

So; with that in mind, I wanted to start a list of cheap foods (cheap is used loosely with how things are today)

Please feel free to add; for I am a picky eater and didn’t add everything.

RICE
POTATOES
OATS
PASTA
BEANS
POWDERED MILK
WHOLE MILK
EGGS
CHICKEN
TUNA
BULK (10LBS+) PROTIEN
GROUND BEEF
COTTAGE CHEESE
NUTS
OLIVE OIL
CHEESE
CORN
CARROTS
BANANAS
APPLES
SPINACH

All of this, in a blender!

Just kidding. Or am I? Hm…
