Changing of the Guard

If you have evidence of that then train that way.

The PROBLEM is telling everyone that all people will see the same and that everyone should do that…when the truth is, it will hold back progress on those who see more optimal progress at higher body fat percentages.

If someone else grows better at “15%” than “sub 10%” then they will be held back if they try to act like you.
That’s true, people are different and they should do what works for them instead of being a sheep. I believe bulking up 20-30 lbs over where you want to be at is the best and fastest way to make gains and you’d obviously be over 10% at that point. But if you start out lean you’ll be able to gain more and for longer before pushing the breaks because you’re getting too fat, assuming both people have the same lbm but one is fatter, same height etc… But seriously, you should compete, not because you’ll make a living out of bodybuilding but because you’re into the sport and have thought about it before and are stubborn as hell so you’d probably do well lol

Addendum: And you’re overbulking isn’t what contributed to the several-ounce or -gram muscle gains per month after some time.

I can see what you did very well. I also don’t see many people here big enough to say they spent quality time working on just building that solid base of mass.

That is the point being made.

You wrote, “You had to start a thread talking about how awesome it is that SOME people are finally talking about staying lean in a god damned BODYBUILDING forum!!!”…which implies that the goal is to stay super lean all of the time.

That isn’t the goal of everyone. Some of us have a goal of having HUGE muscles with that leanness in the end…and that sometimes takes not looking ideal at times to pull it off.

Well, considering that after a few years of natty training, gains come in grams or ounces a month and over bulking doesn’t do much for those gains.
You are overgeneralizing to a fault.

Yes, gains may slow down but it is INDIVIDUAL at what stage someone sees a true significant slow down in progress made…which is why you can not make that claim.

Once again, I posted the pics and have for years. If I was just gaining fat, there is no way in hell I would have bulked up like that.
You didn’t gain just fat, but you gained far less muscle than you claim.
? That isn’t even true. How did I gain less muscle than I claimed if the body fat test pairs up with what I said.

You are making things up now. What claim did I make that doesn’t pan out?
BrickHead wrote:

What? Me making sure my body was always fed enough to grow optimally is what contributed to more muscle gains in the long run.

It all comes down to asking yourself the following question: do you get anything out of being on these forums? Does anything you read in them make you a better BBer? It’s when I really ask myself that question and I’m honest with myself that I realize I need to peace out.

Think about it man. You had to start a thread talking about how awesome it is that SOME people are finally talking about staying lean in a god damned BODYBUILDING forum!!! That’s like going to the emergency room and being like, “Hey docs, it’s really cool you all are actually trying to heal people now.”

X doesn’t want this place to be like that. He wants it to be HIS forum. He needs to be the authority, 50k posts… Look at the back and forth with him and Raw, and Stu and Brick now. He doesn’t want people more established than himself here because this place is HIS in his mind and it makes this forum a joke.

I’ll Check in every now and again because i really like some people on here but seriously take a look at the discussions in this forum. It’s laughable. When I compete next year ill drop by with some updates but other than that, really what does this place have to offer me anymore?

I won’t waste more time on here, I won’t ever take X off ignore and I won’t be purchasing Biotest products for the time being. Plain and simple. I’ll find a forum that I can learn from, get access to good supplements and support from members much more established who will actually help me get better.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I’m going into “off-season” mode now for a good 3 years before my next show. I have a good sense of how much size I have to put on to do BBing at my next show.

I appreciate that isn’t everyone’s goal, but it is part of bodybuilding, and should be discussed just as much as everything else.

yes, for some people, they will have to let go of some leanness to get as big as they want.

You do understand this, right?

Your body won’t casually let you gain to your genetic potential. It often takes strategies just like what we are discussing.

This is why I quoted that post from Colucci where he said that yes, there are times where you may not look ideal…because I knew we had guys here thinking like you are now/

What does your last statement mean? Can you discuss a topic without bringing past biases in? You are projecting other posters mentality on me when k haven’t said anything contrary to what you just posted. Of course someone trying to get big naturally will put on some body fat while they are gaining muscle. No one that I have seen, and certainly not myself, have said otherwise. The difference in opinions is on what is am acceptable amount of body fat gained and what is overboard.

8 pages…

8 pages to come to the conclusion that different people, with different goals and physiologies, should train and eat differently.

Glad we got that confusion outta the way, phew, good job guys, you’re heroes.

I recommend Palumbo’s forum if you want to learn a ton. MD too. Lots of pros and other competitors of all sorts post there, as well as industry insiders. MW is GREAT for industry gossip and laughs.

You’re a good guy. You don’t have to let the 'net get you all worked up.

Good luck.

I’ve noticed threads with prof. x and orion almost always turn into bullshit arguments. I havent put them on block yet, but i certianly never read anything they post; or any of the responses to their posts.

That would be completely individual. I know this has been said before…and it still holds.

What is “overboard” for me 5 years ago is different than now…based o0n my goals and my time available and my results.

For instance…if a guy knew he would be out of the country for two months this summer in South America, would it make sense for him to diet right now if his training might be limited there?

Gee, maybe he should look at his own life and train in a way that allows him to make the most gains even if YOU might see it as “overboard”.

Get it?

Yeah, you can pretty much gurantee that most have. The difference being that some have advocated going way overboard into obesity ranges and others advocate doing it while keeping bf% in check more reasonably. But we all know this.
Could I ask you WHO has recommended people need to get into “obesity ranges” to make the most progress?

It is great to look shredded at 170 if that is all you care about.

Some of us want to be big enough to be shredded at over 200lbs…so we did what we needed to in order to pull that off.

I haven’t seen anyone tell someone they need to be obese to pull that off.

Who said this and where?
Who is “we”? You are not shredded at over 200lbs.
