BIke ride with son. 27.5 miles 12.7 mph average. Blew out trying to keep up with son first half ride. Limped it home. He beat me home by like 5 minutes.
Right quad hurts like hell, lower inside part by the knee.

Got 2 possible new gyms… Both more then twice what I was paying at PF…
Went to look at gold’s and Lifestyle.
Neither has a proper cage, just rack with legs to catch the bar before it hits the floor. But no front riser to catch if you fall forward…
Toured Gold’s (lots of Hammer Strength, pin selector and plate load) Even a pull over machine (read it is as close to the old nautilus pull over as one can find. drool, drool)
didn’t see a whole lot of plates, I may have missed the trees, but they seemed scattered all over… (hmmm, might be a hassle)
Lots of people at Golds, mostly Middle-aged business types, Some trendy types, some people of decent size, few sizable dudes…
Toured and lifted at Lifestyle.
Less Hammer strength, mostly pin selector, a few plate loaded, no pull over machine)
Plenty of plates…
A LOT OF HUGE DUDES…
I would say most of the lifters were larger to MUCH larger then me. Couple seriously large, like over 300 with decent to excellent body comp.
Either of these places are worlds away from PF…

As far as Planet Fitness goes, I really don’t get it. I’m 46 years old, fat, and I sit at a desk all day, yet I can deadlift 3 plates on a side (barely). So, I must represent the upper limit of how “fit” you are supposed to get at their gym?!? Just wrong.
Great training Null. I bet your dead would do better if you only did it once every week or two. Deads burn the body out quickly.
Remember 45,35,35,35,35,35,5,2.5 on each side equals 500 lbs. Only one 45 on each side. No rules broken.

Thanks Joe, still recovering from acute allergy induced asthma attack. I was doing 5x5x405. 5x3x405 is the best I can do now. Bothers me, still ingesting too many chemicals,but it’s not that, damage might not fully heal.

Lift at Gold’s got sorta screwed on the 7 day trial… They started it when I first talked to them, as I was out most of the week, didn’t get a lift in except tonight with Son.
Much less crowded, as it is late, started lift at 7:30… Damn hot, didn’t know if it was my messed endocrine or the temperature until on the way out noticed the thermostat (downstairs) set to 73, so MUCH warmer upstairs where the weights are.
Getting there for lunch lift should be no problem as they showed me short cut from parking…
Son like Golds much better, I kind like the Lifestyle better as it is cooler, less people, but it better services at Gold’s.
Oh, and really liked pull over machine, think it is safer/more stable then bb pullovers for my shoulders…

My 14yr old son lifts with me about 6x/month. We don’t have enough weight at home for squats and deads…
Both are about $50-55 for the both of us. Gold’s being more, but we’d have the run of the place… pool, hot tub pool, sauna’s, most classes. Lifestyle was limited to weights and cardio machines, they charge extra for the rest… I love soaking in hot water when sore…
Went for Gold’s though it was more and had sign up fee… Boy liked it better. Me, could take either, but Gold’s has plate loaded Hammer strength and pin select, as well as a, drool, drool, pull over machine. With my shoulder injuries, much safer then free weights when going heavy on pull overs.
$23, don’t I wish…
