Cats are great. You have to get two though. That way they will keep each other company when you are gone during the day. If you only have one and are gone often, that cat probably won’t be socialized properly. Also I’m a firm believer in getting the cats through some sort of rescue organization. Also, I think it is better to get them when they are kittens and not set in their ways yet.
This is my baby Candy. Actually her full name is Candy Candice Precious Forsythe. She’s 16 years old and getting close to the ‘end’. My dad just sent me this picture of her via email.
I havent seen her since Christmas, which is really the only time I see her. I had to leave her at my parents house when I moved to Edmonton for University. I feel like I abandonned her, and now she might die before I get to say goodbye. I cry just thinking about it.
She was my best friend when I was growing up. Whenever I was sad and lonely she would know it and come find me. She would let me cry all over her furry little body and lick away my tears. She would listen to me when I just needed someone to talk to. She also knew I was scared of the dark so she would sleep with me to protect me from the scary monsters under the bed.
She was also extremely smart. She knew how to open doors and turn on the lights. When I walked in the door when returning from being out, she would run up to me and great me with her beautiful meow and comforting purr. She always came whenever I called her, and she knew how to give kisses when asked. I would say “Candy, give me kisses smooch, smooch” and she would lick me. I loved it. And I love her.
She’ll always be in my heart, and I’ll never forget that she is one of the most important beings in my life.
So, in short, get a cat, and love it to death. Cats are independant and carefree, but they’re also one of the most sensitive friends you’ll ever have.

Cats are great. If you cook them right they taste just like chicken!
