Get a chicken. That way if it doesn’t work out you can eat it. Wait, that’s no different than having a cat.
Nevermind.

Cats are AAAAAAAAAwesome. I’ve had them since I was a kid and with the exception of my Siamese, they were all loving, fun to play with and TRAINED.
Fetch, riding in the car, taking baths, opening doors, getting down from a forbidden perch at the snap of your fingers…all are things I’ve had them do.
PS - Women love cats!!!
hey pumkin thats why the majority is saying not to get a cat but a dog cause tong g wants a dog but can’t realy have one since he’s gone for over 8 hr’s a day…i’m just stateing that cats are cool to have too if your a guy as well.
FWIW, my straight female friends like men with cats–say they’re more secure in their masculinity. As in, you didn’t see Goldberg looking for “t-men” approval before he got the pet he wanted…don’t be a man by committee. ![]()
Bottom line: Get the pet you like. Take your time, find one you can bond to. My cat is is fearless, plays fetch, comes when I whistle and yet is perfectly fine left with a big bowl of food and water when we go away for the weekend.

Im a single guy. I have two cats. My younger cat anakin is my boy. He is the best pet ive ever had. When my last cat died on May 22, i cried for three days. So fuck you if you think im gay for having a cat. And im not joking about the fuck you. Darth Vader was my boy and now anakin is my boy.

That was darth vader. This is anakin.

tme: I have a male kitten… Why should I get him nuetered? Just curious… I don’t know much about cats. I found mine recently and rescued him and have become quiet attached. Any advise on what I need to do w/ him as far as vet stuff?
Thanks
Goldberg - I’ve been around cats, and I just prefer dogs. Nothing personal to you.
I do have to say that those are two of the coolest names I’ve ever heard for an animal.
My chihuahua’s name is Taco.
If you do decide to get a cat, do the world a favor and adopt one at your local Pet Rescue, Humane Society or pound. There are too many unwanted, abandoned and abused animals. Don’t pay money for one. There are free ones all over the place. And do the world a favor and be sure to have it spayed or neutered.
Same goes for those wanting dogs. Stop wasting money for purebreds (which tend to have more health problems anyway) and adopt a mutt from your local pet rescue or humane society. These dogs need a home and tend to make better pets than some that you spend hundreds of dollars for.
Also, don’t forget that any pet will require time and money in the form of food, vet bills, toys, damage caused to house, apartment or furniture, etc.
Get him neutered or he will spray piss all over the house to mark his territory. And you cant stop it either. And it is the worst smell of all time.
Solo’s Girl: un-neutered male cats will start to “spray” when they get to about 10-12 months. You can’t even imagine a worse smell. Plus you’ll only see him occasionally if he feels like stopping in to eat or if he’s hurt. Neutered males are very laid back and affectionate cats.
Also buy good quality cat food, the cheap stuff contains a lot of ash, which will cause a urinary tract infection.
Not getting a cat cause you just don’t like them or are allergic is one thing. Wanting one buy deciding not to cause some guys on an internet forum will think you’re a pussy is definitely not T-man style.
Where’s Bob Barker when you need him?
Goldberg, you got me thinking. My dogs are starting to get old. I have no idea how I’m going to handle it when their time comes. Dude, I respect you even more because you love your cats.
A couple passages from The Book of Cupcake:
Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.
–Groucho Marx
Cats are possessed of a shy, retiring nature, cajoling, haughty, and capricious, difficult to fathom. They reveal themselves only to certain favored individuals, and are repelled by the faintest suggestion of insult or even by the most trifling deception.
–Pierre Loti
My wife and I have 3 amazing wonderful cats that have made the best pets of my life. I love them dearly. Gotta agree with the spay/neuter thing and also with keeping them indoors - much, much less to worry about. Also, make sure to buy a cool scratching pad/bed combo (the wood and carpet ones) and introduce it to the cat when it’s a kitten.
When I get home, I’ll post some pics.
There is nothing wrong with a guy having a cat - they make fantastic pets.

Plow! This here is the T-Cat. I adopted him from a humane society for $50.
Cats will become more doglike if you show them a lot of attention when they are young. I have had experience with four cats over the last two years. Three of those cats would sit with you, sleep with you, and come when you called them. These three were shown alot of attention during their younger days. The other one was left outside and then when she was adopted, was left at home alot by herself. She is not very friendly but is getting better.
I’ve got two and a half cats - one moved to the neighbours.
My eldest is a complete psycho - put the neighbours dog into the vet twice [poor little whippet].
The younger one is mental - I think he ran into the wall too much as a kitten.
Goldberg’s right - you raise your cats right they’re loyal, loving and great fun.
I don’t have any times for dogs, sure they’re nice, but if you throw a stick they go get it, a cat politely informs you that since since it’s your stick, you can go get it; guess it’s an attitude thing.
Here is my kitty! Climbing around my bed

in hall
in the kitchen
all over the freekin place!
I call her “Kiddy” like in Monsters Inc. untill my son gets home he will name her.
I got her from a barn in Saskabush. She is my first cat and I love her sooooooooooooooooooo much!

Every notice how it’s the guys with no kids that have cats? lolol
Honestly I have to say I don’t mind our current cat, she is pretty clean, doesn’t puke hardly ever, and handles herself quite well.
I have to disagree on the carte blanche against letting cats outside though, I think it all depends on the cats temperment and your area. My wife’s previous many many cats have varied from outdoors in the early days to the “80’s and 90’s style” of keeping them in all the time, and our current cat used to be indoors too. We just started letting her out a couple years ago and she’s never been so happy. Now she gets to eat mice/birds/rodents and grass as often as she wants, and also eat catfood. And gets to lounge around on concrete, roll on it, lay in the sun, do all of that fun cat stuff.
She stays in shape too, I bet she can lift more than any of your weakling indoor only cats can ![]()
I agree with getting cats at the pound/shelter or whatnot. There are millions of them out there at those places.
