Holy crap, day 2 hurt. First rep, both my inner heads tried to cramp up as soon as I squeezed. I had no idea I was that sore. Took about a dozen reps to be able to do one correctly.
Maybe there is something to this. I have never hit the inner heads like that before.
This. I did them first thing this morning. Had to stop after the first attempted rep and stretch a bit to stop them from cramping up.
It’s really weird; every time I did calf raises in the gym, we pretty much always came up on the ball of our feet, but with these, being kind of more on the outside of the foot, I feel it in a lot of different places.

Obviously his program did not work on himself. Why waste your time?
Because nothing else has worked and I’m willing to try something different to see if it works.
You have before and after pics of his calves?
Nope you got me there, I don’t have before and after photos of this guys calves. Shucks.
All I could find were his youtube videos uploaded two weeks ago where his calves aren’t impressive in any way. It must be those last two weeks on the “100 weightless heel raises in your kitchen every day” program where his calves just exploded to “dancer” status.
Are you guys doing these calf raises on the edge of a step or flat footed on the ground? It never says it in the article. I have been doing them on the edge of a step, pushing through it despite falling off the steps a couple of times due to balance issues.
I tried these two days ago. I got to 50 before I couldn’t do them anymore. I also trained calves (and legs) weighted that day. The next two days I couldn’t physically do a calf raise. Like I got to three before hitting complete failure. Anyways I’m gonna try this just for shits, although I’m going to need a period of time just to get used to it before hitting up the program as he says.

Says to do them flat-footed to focus on the top portion of the movement.

Thanks man. I will embark on this journey the right way now!
Turns out I really suck at balancing while doing these, especially after leg days. And I’ve been doing a lot of leg days over the past couple of weeks (if you’ve never tried high-frequency squatting, you really need to). Next week should be better. Today’s the end of this squat cycle.
I will admit that used a wall to help balance for today’s set. Couldn’t balance without it past 24, but my calves didn’t feel worked so I refused to stop until they were blasted. Heavy front squats, good mornings, and 20-rep back squats can take their toll.
started these yesterday…barefoot, shits awesome. I love weighted calfs but these were dominating me with the slow tempo and barefoot really activated my whole calf. well see how it goes in a week or so…
BTW all the questions asked here are answered in the article lol

So then tell us your routine, and post some updated calf pics, to lead us in the right direction. The only calf pic I’ve seen of yours so far is in your hub. I think you may rightfully be jealous of his ‘dancer’ calves.
