Wondering if someone can help me out with this. 26yr old male who is getting back into playing Ice hockey. Just adult leagues so nothing to serious, but I seem to get winded very easily.
Anyone have a cardio program or advice that i might be able to see some quick results from? I do not have access to ice other than the games so that would not work out, but I can go to the gym 5-6 times a week. Any help would be awesome. thanks!

Not really a program, but think how you move in a hockey game. You probably go balls out for 4-5 seconds, then slow down for 10-15 seconds then go balls out 4-5 seconds, etc. Find a track or field where you can run and repeat this pattern of exertion for maybe 25% longer than your typical ice shift. This should help with your endurance for hockey.
Thanks john. That seems like pretty good advice. Anybody else have other ideas? Just trying to see what people might be able to suggest and get alot of different opinions. Thanks again!
I know this thread is not an attractive thing, but i am really looking for some help here and i am def still lost on how to attack this probelm. I am looking for more of something i can do inside the gym as opposed to the sprint thing outside. Any and all ideas will def be appreicated! Help out a newbie who is completly lost when it comes to this stuff!
I don’t know what kind of timetable you are looking at, but this article has 3 different styles of sprinting, lasting 8 weeks each, and a combined plan that is 12 weeks long. Hope this helps.

Do you think i could apply the intervals to a bike? Running kills my knees and i do not think i would make it more than a week or so without having to stop the sprints.

Yes you can, either bike or ellyptical.
Just make sure to crank the intensity up and go all out.
