Cardio for Busy People

No no, I get that you want to work. I just thought you really wanted to try the med ball thing.

On topic… any suggestions for a fatboy trying to squeeze cardio into starting strength?

I’m currently lifting MWF on my lunch hour…

Thinking two days (either Tues/Thurs pm or Sat/Sun am)… maybe 10 min HIT followed by 20 min LISS.

A fatboy on SS will lose fat without cardio. I sure did. Just don’t do the GOMAD!

If you insist on doing cardio anyway, you will want to make sure it doesn’t negatively impact your workouts. So my advice would be to just walk for an hour a few times a week.

Definitely not… I’ve been eating between maintenance and a 5% deficit.

Just feel like I need a little cardio in my life… mainly just for marathon sex and making sure getting gassed doesn’t limit my progress on the bar, active recovery etc.

A little too much on my plate to squeeze in hour cardio sessions right now… at best I could make time for 30 min 2-3 x weekly. Maybe I just go for good ol’ fashioned incline LISS as often as schedule will allow?

Ok, in that case I’ll share what I’ve done in the past with great results, but it kind of sucks until you get used to it - do a 20min sprint, hill sprint, or prowler session immediately after your workouts 2-3 times a week. I’ve done that on leg days using 5/3/1 with great results. It might feel a little awkward at first running with wobbly legs, but should have minimal (if any) impact on your recovery. I would avoid doing anything the day before or after a lifting day. Just make it a part of your workout and you’ll recover fine. That will still give you 4 solid rest days per week. On off days, don’t do anything more than maybe an easy walk.

Gotta chime in to second the advice on using a jump rope. I’ve been working it into my weights in between sets and its the only cardio I’ve been doing, other than the occasional sprint session.

Just learning to do double unders will destroy you in a few minutes. Even if you suck at it you’ll still get an amazing calorie burn.
