I assume what you are trying to say is Glycemic Index (GI) or Glycemic Load (GL) or Insulin Index (II). Regardless, that’s not strictly true. I care a lot about the quantities of carbs I eat and not so much about their ratings on the aforementioned scales.
Which is of course impossible, because if you do care about quantitiy you have started caring about glycemic load.
Why not go all the way?
I’m not quite sure what you are getting at. I’m on the AD at the moment and honestly couldn’t care less about whether they have a GI of 10 or 100 as long as I stay under 30g of carbs for the day.

…Why don’t you ask the guys doing the AD exactly how much bullshit that statement is? You don’t need carbs when your body is using fat as its fuel. I’m walking proof of it as well as the people who made the 6000+ posts in the AD thread. …
That thread is too big! Do you think the weekend carb ups on the AD help your lifting? How would you function if you didn’t carb up on weekends?

A few facts:
1-Fat has over twice the energy producing power as either carbohydrates or fat.

That is some magic fat! It sounds like some of the math people use discussing social security in the politics section. ![]()

4-It is true that glycogen is required for anaerobic work such as weightlifting, but it is also true that previous stores will remain unused in a person who has become adapted to using fat as their primary fuel for everything else and will thus be available for this work. Hence the weekly loads.

I think that may answer the question I just posted.

You have piqued my curiosity. If you don’t swallow protein, what the hell else do you do with it?
Spit?
Good answer.

Actually the weekend carb ups make me drag on Monday. Being truly fat adapted means you just don’t need the carbs for anything other than to replenish glycogen (and possibly kickstart your leptin). It’s comparable to someone who is living on pure carbs and then takes one day and eats 500g of just fat, healthy or not. You’re going to feel like shit. I feel so much better on my non carb days than on my carb day or the immediate day after.
Now to the question- do they help my lifting? I can’t answer that. I’ve never done the AD without the carb ups, so I don’t have a point of reference for comparison.
