Carbohydrates for the Muscles

No doubt. That’s glycogen for you.

Like, don’t get me wrong: Ted Arcidi was a big advocate of spaghetti and turkey. Ate minimal red meat and fats in general, and he was a beast too

It’s honestly absolutely bonkers how many different ways there are out there to build muscle and get stronger. You can pretty much slip and fall into it.

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve even heard of a method where you eat cool whip first thing every morning. Not sure if it works tho, gonna try it out to see

EDIT:
apologies, I’m overtired and need a nap because I’m basically a toddler

What did his diet consist of? Did he discuss his daily food intake in a book or is that info published anywhere on the internet?

Check out the “steak and eggs diet” for a great reference.

The high-protein diets of the 1960’s and 1970’s remind me of Arthur Jones statement “Nothing fails like success!”

You know who Vince Gironda is right?

It would appear not lol

Gironda recommended numerous different type of diets and it was determined by the trainees goals

steak and eggs
vegan
36 eggs a day
Maintenance diet (includes starchy carbohydrates)

just to name a few…you can find more on the vince gironda website

What on earth happened here? I don’t even know where to start…

You do realize that @SlowTwitch represent his own opinions here? My take on HIT and high carb diet may not differ from his, but I would not get into this kind of strange debate. And for gods sake, leave Frank Zane alone!

And then Jon Andersen: “Carbs is for the weak”! Well it’s a nice slogan. But no matter how much I respect his efforts, these kind of clips makes me realize I am not his target audience. Negative encouragement never does it for me. I for one would not want to live my life in search for suffering. I guess this is just a promo marketing image of his. For gods sake, leave my carbs alone!

Dude: tongue FIRMLY in cheek here

Idk dude, all of training is basically credentialed bro science when it comes down to it.

Regarding the introduction and re-introduction of carbohydrates into the diet for optimal muscular development and health, I am left with this quote:

“All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.”

Arthur Schopenhauer

Man, this is whether or not to eat a potato, not a human rights movement or something.

Anyhoo,

Are you having a conversation the rest of us arent privy to?

Introduction and reintroduction implies that they were removed.

Care to share the rest of this larger scenario?

Oh man, we’re quoting Schopenhauer now? Which of his books is your favorite? I really dug “The Wisdom of Life, Councils and Maxims” but I also have a collection of some of his essays translated by R. J. Hollingdale that’s pretty clutch. You probably know this quote

“The discovery of truth is prevented most effectively, no by the false appearance things present and which milsead into error, nor by weakness of the reasoning powers, but by pre-conceived opinions, by prejudice, which as a pseudo a priori stands in the path of truth and is then like a contrary wind driving a ship away from land, so that sail and rudder labour in vain”

Or perhaps also relevant

“Intellect is a magnitude of intensity, not a magnitude of extension: which is why in this respect one man can confidently take on ten thousand and a thousand fools do not make one wise man”

Food for thought for sure!

Carbs rarely get stored as fat, when dietary fat is kept low (<10%)

If you are going to post studies at least tell us what point you are trying to make. :unamused:

Perhaps I wasn’t clear enough.

Introduction as in bodybuilders of the 60’s and 70’s who ate high-protein, low-carb diets. Re-Introduction as in adding carbs back into the diet for those who have been on no-carb or lo-carb diets like Keto and Paleo.

Glycogen storage isn’t that much different on a low carb diet
Muscle tissue solids consist of protein, not glucose/glycogen

To flip it around: Why I should look up to someone who got great results primarily because of drugs and good genetics?
