Carb Timing and Fat Burning

Elusive, mind posting in my ‘Ultimate Diet’ thread in Bigger Stronger Leaner? Because I recall you did that…and then afterwards did your own style, with the 3000g refeed one time I think haha

Would appreciate some of your insight into both dealing with the low days, and optimising the refeed days. Cheers man[/quote]

No prob, I’ll check it out in a bit.

Heh couldn’t help myself.

Good to see u back here, ryanb.

ryanbCXG- so from your expereince would you say that you have noticed any difference in body composition since undertaking this approach? And how long have you been doing this for?

I had just recently tried a “lean-gains” approach for about 3 weeks, but with my different training times(sometimes Am and sometimes PM), and with the fact that I do “cardio” 3 times a week, this approach did not work for me.

1 year or a bit more tweaked here and there. Tried going with some protein meals before training. But don’t like eating before training. I do find I have been able to stay pretty damn lean and gain though

Some days I train in the morning with just whey and again in the afternoon same thing then load carbs. I love it. I hate worrying about food during the day. Also fucks my workouts up. To each their own though just gotta find what works for you

Elusive It’s been a long time since you’ve been around. How’s training going etc.I loved reading your posts on your diet and refeeds etc. They were epic to say the least. Are you still doing the same basic set up.Hope all is well.

I kind of agree with Elusive for the most part about calories in vs calories out as being the most critical factor, but the real truth lies somewhere in the middle depending on your body type.
I think carb timing does work but only to a small degree once you’ve exhausted other approaches and want to get an extreme level. I consider myself a little carbophobic and have tried so many different diets and approaches, CBL, IM, CKD’s, TCKD’s, TNation peri protocols with their supps, etc.

They all had pros and cons but the biggest factor boiled down to overall calories once protein requirements were met in order to retain muscle, and I always keep a food/calorie log when dieting down.
Year after year it’s always the same overall caloric amount that gets me to single digit body fat no matter how I break it up.

You worded it a bit better than I did. Thats basically what I was trying to get at.

I’ve been away from training for almost two years. I’m about 2 months back into it now. Personal life kept me away from the gym, for longer than it should have. All is well now however and I’m back on the grind. I’m eating more moderately now, although giant refeeds sound fun. lol.
