Captain America DEAD

Whether if he really is dead is the question. The Punisher is actually supposed to make a brief stunt as Cap after this and many are considering a plot where Frank Castle was the sniper and the “death” of cap is only a ploy made by the two of them.

Other theories is that Stark placed a clone of cap there, killing the clone, thus taking Cap out of the public’s eye so he can help him direct SHIELD. the only fact known is that Frank Castle is going to make a short stint as Cap.

Apparently a ploy of the Red Skull to get back at his enemy…

This is gonna be interesting. Who’s up for a bet he won’t stay dead for long?

you realize that a lot of MMA guys saw that and just freaked thinking something happened to Couture.

I don’t follow comics much anymore, but the storyline sounds excellent.

I love me a good comic book story. BUT i have noticed that comic books are nothing more then soap operas with super powers, better bodies, and colorful outfits.

Not that i dont totally love the fact that Phoenix dies and comes back all the time, or that Wonder Woman KEEPS trying to be a normal “secret” agent but cant seem to keep her job that way, or the fact that the Hand has resurrected more people then Hollywood has resurected “Dracula”. Love ALL that sh!t.

My guess, look for good old Steve to come back.

They got to do something with how they ended Civil War. Man Marvel really sux now Civil War sucked, X-Men has sucked for years (except astonishing), Bendis needs to go man I miss the glory days of Marvel the 60’s to the 80’s so much good stuff came out, but from the 90’s on it was foiled covered crap

Although I haven’t been keeping up to comic book stories for a long time
I used to be a huge fan
so is it bad that captain america dying bothers me more than anna nicole?

Not at all Cap dying is the end of an era 1940 Jack Kirby mom dad apple pie, Anna nicole dying symbol of reality tv pink limos and people being famous for sleeping with really old people

ditto. here is their first meeting in the marvel universe. I have this book somwhere in one of many boxes… i saved lunch money/allowance for weeks for books like these, and they were going for alot more when I bought them than they are now. Maybe ill head down to my local shop to find a graphic novel or soemthing that gets me up to speed. I like the idea of Francis taking over the helm.

sigh I hope this is all an elaborate ruse or at least temporary. You cannot permanently get rid of Captain America, for God’s sake.

Hey man, they tried it with Superman. I know, because I attended his funeral at a comic shop in my town. The eulogy was given by my buddy dressed as The Sandman, there was a closed casket, the whole 9. Wow, yeah…Nerd, thy name is Chris.

Edit: If you scroll down this screen, and look at just the avatars, it’s jkinda funny. Namor, Superman, Cap, Superman, Punisher, Cap. Ha.

I don’t think they ever intended to let Superman stay dead. They wanted the publicity and the increase in interest and sales.

If comics were still 40 cents I would buy them.

Wait wait wait…

I’ve read comics where Captain America survived a blast the equivalent of an atomic bomb while facing Silver Surfer who had been possessed by the Carnage symbiote.

And I’ve read plenty of times where Cap lives off some bull. I wonder how he died…

Oh, I like Cap A. I just think he gets away with stuff sometimes. Not nearly as bad as Wolverine.

Wolverine:Overrated!

But if he’s dead… how will marvel make more money? Surely like Agent Frost said he cannot be.

After all its an animated soap opera with superpowers and skintight clothing.

in the issue “Civil War: The Initiative” Ms. Marvel reveals to Spider-Woman that Cap isn’t dead and that S.H.I.E.L.D. has him and hes on life support there, thus leading to the theory that Tony Stark is going to keep him to help direct S.H.I.E.L.D. with him. I’m sure there will be more details here soon…

yeah I still have boxes and boxes of old comics that I simply haven’t gotten rid of from when I was younger

So apparently everyone in Dane county that saw a news story about Cap dieing had to immediately descent upon my favorite comic shop and buy every copy of Cap #25 - oh, and they were all jobless fucks so by the time I finished working there wasn’t a single one left.

Thanks, Marvel, for printing two covers so everyone bought two copies.

But anyway, since the reprint won’t ship for 3 weeks, can someone fill me in on what exactly happened? Please…

No, because that is what makes you human.

If they were all still written like when they cost 40 cents I would not buy them.

I give Civil War a lot of credit. It got many people who had quit reading comics back into it. The story line wasn’t bad at all either and it wasn’t juvenile. They had been hinting at something more going on with Punisher and Cap for several issues.

Captain America met Punisher when he was in bootcamp (shown through a flashback). They have also recently given Cap a personality that people relate to instead of simply being a brand name like he was for years.
