Which ones would you choose?
After seeing the Batman:Dead end vid posted, I got to thinking. If you could choose any comic to be made into a movie, which one would you choose? It can be a crossover comic or anything. I haven’t been into comics in years, but I’d like to see an Ironman movie and a Grendel movie. There was even a Grendel vs. Batman comic, but I won’t get greedy just yet.

Only if they had the sack to get Bill and Thor right(in historical documents the defining characteristics of Thor are his beard and angry flashing eyes).

Yes, getting the characters right is a mandatory first step, a second should be translating a comic book into a script without loosing too much of the original ‘flavor’, making newbies understand despite their lack of knowledge of the serie, and just put up a good show, goddamnit. So many have missed some or all of these, it’s hard keeping faith.
But hey, this thread is about the next comic you wanna see be made into a film, not a “what’s wrong in Hollywood that they miss such easy money-making machines?”
I’d like to see Batman Beyond with Clint Eastwood as elderly Bruce Wayne and that creepy kid from Nip/Tuck as Terry.

Eastwood would have to bulk up a little, it’d be a little weird seeing a tall spindly batman, even if he’s old.
That said, preacher could be awesome, but I don’t think it will ever get made into a movie.

Preacher almost got made and you should thank your lucky stars and garters it didn’t.
It was to star James Marsden (Cyclops from X-Men) and the director of Tank Girl was attached. The script was one of the orst pieces of shit I’ve ever read. The main villian was Arseface’s dad, Sheriff Root. No Starr, no Saint of Killers, no good at all.
As for Batman…how about Dark Knight with Michael Douglas? Weird choice, but I think he could pull it off.
Comic movies that should be made:
Transmetropolitan–if you haven’t read it, you should. It’s basically Hunter S. Thompson in the 24th Centurt. Patrick Stewart owns the rights.
The Ultimates. They’ve done a straight-to-DVD animated feature, but a live action would be amazing. Also, totally impossible; it would cost $350 milion and feature a bunch of characters wh have their own deals.
The Robocop vs. Terminator mini series would rock if given the proper budget and done right.
Also, the Batman vs. Predator graphic novels would kick ass if given the right attention, but I’m not holding my breath.
When I first saw Batman: Dead End last year online, I was reminded of how great a movie could be if Hollywood’s out-of-touch jackoffs didn’t get their grimy fingers into it. Those 7-8 minutes of film blew the piss out of anything Hollywood has done so far with the Batman character. I believe this was largely due to proper casting: A tall, muscular, ripped guy to play Batman (duh!) who can pull off Batman’s real uniform; spandex, a sleek cape, and cowl. No need for plastic pecs and abs, and a rubber cowl so thick the actor can’t even turn his head during fight scenes.

I believe you are refering to “Death’s Head”, of which there are two such characters (well, one is just called Death’s Head II). I think he was Marvel’s answer to Judge Dreadd (not sure which came first, not really into DC), as he rode a similar vehicle, had a similar look/color scheme to him, and was also a UK-based character.
The second Death’s Head, which debuted in 1992 or 3 was a creation of A.I.M. and effectively absorbed the old one’s consciousness along with a bunch of others throughout history. The problem was, the old Death’s Head’s consciousness took over as the dominant personality, and the A.I.M. cyborg went rougue, took on a sidekick, and began to work as a bounty hunter again.
The problem I see with a movie here, aside from the fact that he’s not that well known of a character, is that he never really had a nemesis. He just kind of guest-starred in other characters’ storylines, even in his own book!

X-men: Age of Apocalypse. I loved that saga, it would make some awesome movies.

Venom - cos he is awesome.
bunch of badasses from the 2000 AD comics. I’d have to go through my collection that I haven’t read in years and see, those comics have some wicked characters in them.
I am waiting to see how Iron Man plays out, I think that it could be good (Zathura was suprisingly good). The best would be if they did the Ultimate line. Most of the Ulitmate stuff has left me kind of cold (including some of the Ultimates, and don’t get me started on the galactus saga), but I think that Card has done an interesting and unique origin story (and really compelling when the poor kid was getting tortured).
As for other adaptations the clause “if a good script is written” goes without saying…
Fables would be awesome, it is one of the best written comics in a long time.
Watchmen is constantly in pre-production, so you knows.
The Runaways could be a pretty cool movie for the tweens and above, that and it has the perfect value, just use the original story, no need to make a new plot or really adapt too much (it started with a small run so it actually has a quality and satisfying ending).
Where the hell is Green Lantern? It seems like all the other JLers have a movie in the works.
As for Thor, I think it could be good, but it would be cool if they took a page from the Ultimates and allowed for the posibility that he was nutters. The problem with Thor is who can physically play him and still be worth a crap in acting. I mean that guy is huge.

Crisis on Infinite Earths, in as much movies as it takes to get it right … just because I never could get a hold of all the comics ;0)
Next weekend, a couple buddies and I will be making a Sabertooth/Wolverine short. It takes place Logan’s (referred to by his early name, James’) farm 20 years or so after the X-Men. Sabertooth is sent to bring him back into the game. It will consist mostly of fight choreography done by my friend and I that’s going to take place in his barn.
Unfortunately, the camera we have is a dinky little one. We wanted to get a slightly better one but it costs 150 bucks a day to rent, so we’re gonna have to pass. Hopefully I’ll get it up here when it’s finished.
