Many thanks for that video Shadowzz4, really…
I don’t know how I missed it but all these years I have been bringing that damn barbell all the way down to the top of my chest on my Push Presses. My elbows are literally touching my sides. I must have picked up the habit from doing all my complexes (Hang Cleans to Push Presses to Front Squats). I always racked the bar on my upper chest/shoulders and then Push Pressed from there when I should have been setting/starting the bar higher for a quick dip and “snappy” press.
This video clearly pointed me in the right direction with keeping the elbows locked higher and the bar hovering around the chin. I do have a nice snappy knee kip/drive so I am hoping that this little fix will help me out in breaking the 200 barrier.
BTW: Mark Felix’s world record lift of 301 lb. on the IM Rolling Thunder is out of this world!

No problem, but I was using that video to show the error at the top of his press.
Do you really think his lockout is that bad? If so why isn’t his coach kicking him in the balls for it? If his form is that bad wouldn’t it clearly carry over into his strongman lifts and competition events?
I have seen a lot of the big boys overhead press just shy from locking out as he does… especially on the heavier weights. I prefer to lockout and hold the weight overhead for a bit… vanity maybe. But many here on T-Nation do not as it stresses the shoulders more than the triceps.
Still, I very much appreciate the video as it enlightened me.

I just made that comment because he CANT lockout. Its not a personal preference. He lacks the ability to lockout at the top for the reasons I previously stated. Sure he is still strong, but he could probably be stronger. Its probably because his coach doesnt realize what the problem is that he didnt mention it. And heres the thing. Its not just the lockout, its the whole press that is affected by those problems I was talking about. Its only evident with the lack of ability to lockout.
