Can You Get Leaner AND Stronger?

I was pondering this today and couldn’t come up with an answer… Let’s say I have a slight caloric deficit and and working toward getting leaner. At the same time I hit the bar harder than I would bang Jelena Jensen. Is it possible to see a 50lbs gain on your squat without eating like Dave Tate?

I don’t know about hitting anything harder than Jelena Jensen  but I’ve just hit a 225lb bench press which puts me at a 40lb increase from 185lbs about a month ago…and I’m on day 12 of the V-Diet(about 10lbs lighter to boot). :()

Kalle, if I might ask, what kind of results have you gotten from your cutting program?

Also, just to clarify an earlier post on caloric waving, I think maintenance (or close to it) on non-workout days (beginning with post-workout meal/shake), and a deficit on workout days would work best. My reasoning is that feeding the muscles to near-maintenance beginning post-workout and on recovery days will teach the body to be muscle-sparing. To further clarify, I’m going to try cutting in conjunction with the Anabolic Diet. I did the AD once before for mass and had GREAT results, hoping I’ll do as well burning fat. I may even run a log.

If anyone is interested see the monster AD thread if you are unfamiliar with this diet.

My progress thread

I think I started cutting a week after the start of the thread? So I’ve only been dieting for about 3- 3 1/2 weeks and have went from 206.6 morning bodyweight to 195 morning bodyweight today so 11lbs in about a month so far, not bad. I have also got a rep PR in the deadlift, PR in squat, +10lbs on my log overhead press, 40lb pr for my farmers walk for 40ft, shaved 10 seconds off my 6 flip tire flip time. So all is going good so far.

I am going to take updated pics on Thursday or this weekend, I’ll post them when i do. I still think I have another 10ish lbs to lose before I am where I want to be, I think around 185 I’ll be at a low enough bf for me.

I think you have a good plan and good luck in it, like anything just go off a base and adjust as needed. I highly recommend keeping a log here or somewhere. Logging my workouts on this site since the start of the year was the best thing I’ve ever done for my lifting, it holds you accountable and builds comradely between you and others with similar goals post the good and the bad. I have learned SO MUCH from the westside/pling thread I really don’t know where I would be without everyone from there.

Cool, good luck and I’ll be watching your thread. I think I will run my own come January.
