Can I Eat Eggs Raw?

It’s the protein I care about.

Absorbing 51% of raw eggs is like wasting half the dozen.

I’d rather boil them and blender them in a shake. Or make a concentrated reserve with 12 blended boiled eggs in 1 liter of milk spreaded over 3-5 days.

I don’t believe this.

If I need 3000 calories to maintain my weight, your saying I can east 6000 calories of raw eggs a day and not gain? I don’t believe the can’t be absorbed stuff.

it’s the protein that isn’t fully absorbed.

Where does it go? Do we piss it away? Cuz then we would be pissing away calories too.

poop perhaps, lol

isn’t there some vidence showing that raw eggwhites bind to Biotin in the bodyand eliminate it? I remember reading that somehwere.
Ofcourse you would have to eat a lot raw eggs and not have much else for any ral effect. Just a general thought.

Yes, but I believe the yolk is loaded with Biotin.

I found the exact same thing people have been saying here posted on many sites but was unable to actually find the study where these finding were found.

Anyone have better luck?

why does everything need to be proven with a study? some things can be considered common knowledge for those that have studied a certain topic extensively.

do we need a study on why lifting heavy weights causes hypertrophy?

Don’t eat raw eggs.

The risk of sickness is minimal at best as others have pointed out but ImSkinny brings up the most important point. In my case I hate the taste of hard boiled eggs. Raw eggs may be less efficient but it is better than none at all.

Because 1 in 20,000 may be contaminated?

I eat a dozen raw eggs a day. Looks like I’ll bump into some runs within the next 4.5 years, or so.

This is, of course, assuming I don’t check the egg whites/yolk before eating them.

Better odds than the lottery, yet millions of people play every week.

We call the egg white the “rooster juice”. I would immediately think of that if I was to drink a raw egg in a shake or otherwise so I prefer to cook my eggs as it takes away that image of what “rooster juice” is.

True, the only difference is that instead of being a millionaire, I’ll just be out a few more squares of toilet paper.

i have read many threads about this on different sites, and i don’t think i’ve ever seen a post by somebody claiming to have gotten sick from eating raw eggs.

also, i sometimes wonder if the salmonella scare is overblown, considering most people who excercise regularly and eat a healthy diet probably have strong immune systems relative to the rest of the population.

Have to admit, the articles I’ve seen since reading this thread suggest cooked is the way to go for enhanced protein uptake, and I’ll have to go with the flow on this one.

I eat raw eggs several times a day in my shakes - From here on I’ll just boil up a dozen and wash 'em down with the protein shake I think. Just as easy.
