Can Any of You Do What Ronnie Does?

the progression in his body in the beginning of the video as they go through the years is freaky. laters pk

Jesus… What was he leg pressing, like 196 thousand pounds?

When I was a kid, he was how I imagined a superhero to look, too bad they were never drawn as big as Ronnie is.

Who is the man in the blue sleeveless shirt standing next to Ronnie during the prayer? By all accounts he would be considered huge but Ronnie dwarfs him. Mind boggling.

The dude standing next to him is his second meal of the day. Ronnie’s trainer is Chuck Norris. Didn’t you see the total gym in the background?

Hell that dude is super big. He sure is dedicated and has worked hard. Even if he did take steroids. Why can’t people say the same thing about Barry?

And yes I can do what ronnie does. I can inject with the best of them.

eh…still couldn’t curl a pair of 35’s with all that non-functional muscle

That was f’n hilarious.

I personally thought he looked best right at the beginning of the video (1996?) He was huge but still had great symetry (from what I could see).

I agree. You could see he started getting the GH gut around 99-2000. I couldn’t believe the ease he was benching 405 with. That’s like me with just the bar, lol.

… But I CAN run a mile:

Sorry X, couldn’t resist.

Juice aside, he and Vic Richards are the two most impressive physical specimens from a bodybuilding standpoint I’ve ever seen. He’s tossin around some serious weights like ragdolls.

I didn’t see any partials. The man is amazing, used to powerlift and now the most dominant bodybuilder ever. Imagine what he could do if he trained just to powerlift again. He would be top notch at whatever he decided to do.

If anything, by doing full reps he would get more reps because of the stretch shortening cycle at work at the bottom and the chance for rest at lockout. Right?

Soooooooo swoll…

Right. You have people, however, who call anything that isn’t a textbook full range of motion rep a “partial” even though that isn’t the true term for it. Training in the range of motion that stresses the muscle the MOST is not doing it easy. That makes the weight harder to move the more reps you do, however, it is also most effective in terms of growth especially when not a beginner.

The bottom line here is that no one critiquing his “partial reps” could even get in position to press those things much less 12 times. He is a true freak in every aspect. I have admired the man from the beginning, I thought he should have been winning since the early 90’s. Not to turn this into a bodybuilding debate but dorian really only deserved 2 or 3 sandows, he won the rest because the defending champ never loses. Flex, Ronnie, Shawn and Levrone were the 4 best bodybuilders of the early to mid 90’s. Ronnie will be the best until he decides not to be.

Anyways back to this thread, watch the mans training video if there is any doubt about his intensity or strength. I would have to say pound for pound and rep for rep there isn’t a stronger man.

His training video is worth the purchase…if only to laugh at the screaming.

Take it from me, Ronnie is a huge guy. I wasn’t small my self, in 95 I was 6’5 270lbs lean and standing next to him while working out, I felt like a little kid. Was hard to work out at the same time he was because you always wanted to watch what he was doing.

The video of Ronnie on Jay Leno was hilarious!

He can’t run worth a shit!!! Ahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Professor X-besides the weightroom, what good is all of that mass? I can’t imagine him pursuing anybody on foot as a Cop.

What a joke.

Why would you direct your question towards me? I am not Ronnie Coleman.

Also, since you seem to have the act of running down to an elite level along with being on a bodybuilding forum, could we see what a “real bodybuilder” looks like? Post pic below.

That makes no sense. That’s like saying what good is David Beckham being able to bend a soccer ball like he does except on the pitch. Or what good is the ability of Pedro Martinez to catch the inside corner on a cut fastball except on the baseball field. For what he chooses to do, it’s everything, even if you do not use it in other parts of “real life”.

I directed the question towards you because of your recent rant regarding relative strength and functional strength. Plus I know you are a huge Ronnie/bodybuilding fan. Additionally, you constantly push for everybody on this site to train for mass and force feed like you do. Some people who read this site are bodybuilders, some are powerlifters, some want to look good naked, and some are athletes.

The video clip of Ronnie lifting weights is impressive in terms of maximal strength but the Jay Leno clip is a classic example of how all of that “strong mass” is worthless when it comes to performing everyday movements that the human body was built for such as running (or in this case jogging w/scuba gear).

I have no interest in “posting a pic” since I don’t train primarily for looks like you do. Then again, when have you posted a pic?

Actually, it makes a lot of sense. Take the example you gave: David Beckham can also run (sprinting capabilities as well as the fact that he has stamina), actually move in mutliple directions quickly, etc etc. Understand my point? David Beckham is more well rounded than Ronnie.

I do understand your point and Ronnie is doing what he loves and is good at (bodybuilding). However, the old school bodybuilders, while not as large as Ronnie were much more all around athletes as well as being “strong” and looking good.
