Cal's Big Log II: The Revenge

Dunno, told him not to come. Just writing school reports now. Laters.

Interesting about your knee. Hope the unilateral work helps re-establish balance and prevents further problems with it.

Keep plugging along through the grueling busy schedule. Looking forward to having you back here!

I’ve got the reports done, and the gala planned. The gala itself is on Monday so we’ll just have to wait and see how it goes. I think it’ll be OK fingers crossed - at least the headmistress thought my plan was fine.
She asked me at the very last minute to do a risk assessment and I was a bit “wtf?” because I’ve never done one and had no clue what was involved, but I got that done too.

I now have two relatively stress-free days although I’m doing the 10K on Sunday. Swimming gala Monday, school Wed Thur Fri and then school open day on Saturday. The week after next will be a lot calmer, thank goodness.

One good thing is that the girl I mentioned who needed a heart valve op had her surgery on Monday and is doing really well. She is back home tomorrow. All the teachers are very relieved as she’s a really super kid.

omg cool swim vids! Do you people really do colon cleansing?! For the life of me, I cant convince myself that this is a healthy thing, or that it would significantly impact your health/weight one way or the other. I’m sure there’s a thread on that…[/quote]

you know, i’ve often wondered about the colon cleansing as well…but you can always go on a liquid diet and give your colon a good cleansing like that. I’m sure three days of shooting water out yer ass will clean things up right quick! lol!

Aww! Glad that girl got her heart fixed up. And look at you, getting all sentimental (or as sentimental as I’ve ever heard, lol).

Good job keeping on top of your crazy sched. I’ll be looking forward to hearing about how things ended up with the gala and the run. Good luck!

Your relationship sounds just as complicated as mine. HA! Except you get the benefit of having it “long distance”

I can’t wait for things to calm down for you, stress is not good.

I’m sure you did a great job with the gala, if your planning is anywhere near as thorough as your training, then it’ll be awesome.

We all go through these busy times. Sounds like you’ve got a very rewarding job Cal. Glad to hear the little girl did well with her heart surgery. Have fun with your run.

Went to the gym this morning. Since I don’t want to be running with epic DOMS tomorrow, I kept it fairly functional. Bit of handstand practise, some headstands, hypers, waiter’s walks (3 x 20kg), TGUs (tried 10kg but couldn’t stand up on the left side so went back down to 8kg), dumbell rows (up to 28kg), some overhead squats with the 5kg body bar just for mobility, and even some tricep rope pressdowns and hammer curls as I was wondering if it’d help my elbow.
Didn’t weight myself, heh.

It’s nice and sunny today - hoping it’ll be the same tomorrow.

reports - ugh. risk assessment - ugh. glad that you managed to get everything done okay. sorry you didn’t manage to catch up with your guy. sounds like spring is springing in the northern part of the world. hope you get to enjoy some of your more relaxed time. nice work in the gym.

good luck on the running tomorrow - hope you zone out for a while and leave the stress behind in a flurry of long legs.

Best of luck on the 10K! I’ll look forward to hearing all about it.

Go kill the 10K. Sunshine is always nice, hope you get some for your run!

Have fun!

Hope you had a good run!

Run strong Cal!!

Run was fine - weather stayed fairly nice (dry and mild; not too warm). I don’t think it was all that fast but it felt OK. Sciatica came on a bit but wasn’t bad. It generally doesn’t get really awful until after 6 miles or so. Which will make my half marathon fun when I come to do it. I’ll post my time once it goes on the website, but I’m thinking it was about 1 hr 2 minutes. Not fantastic, really, but hey.

Nice work Cal. Glad it stayed dry and the sciatica didn’t get out of hand.

Time came back as 1.02:54 which is pretty awful, really…no wonder it didn’t feel that tough, I was coasting! I guess it’s mostly down to the fact that I’ve been doing longer distances and little to no sprint training, so I’m not too bothered. My best time on that course was around 57 minutes, last year, so it’s a five minute difference - but I was doing sprints and shorter (3-6 mile) runs.

Anyway, the swimming gala today went, well, swimmingly. It went so well that we finished well ahead of schedule. Obviously it wasn’t all down to me as the other teachers and staff did a great job in their assigned roles, too, but I feel pretty satisfied that my plan worked. The girls tried their hearts out, too. Hurrah.

Great to hear that work is going swimmingly! Yeah, that time isn’t your best. You are faster than me, if that’s any consolation. You’ll get it in gear next time.

Cal: glad you got through the gala and the run. Now, get on the half marathon training!

glad the gala went smoothly and the girls got into it.

sorry you aren’t stoked about your time. glad you had a comfortable run, though, and the weather was pleasant. from my perspective: you ran for an hour. WOW.
