Cal's Big Log 3D - Attack of the Giant Arse

your having a rough go of it.
when is your appt with the Doc??

Haven’t made one yet. I’d rather get this cold out of the way before I have a load of tests done.

I’m amazed at the volume you can crank out when you aren’t feeling great. Nice job! You’ve got me beat, that’s for sure.

Impressi e fucking session poop period snot and all!

YAY! It’s stopped! At least, it has for now. I have a short cycle, so I guess it will be back soon. Also, my colon cooperated this morning, so I did another weigh at the gym and sure enough, down to 153lbs (10 stone 13 - so under 11, finally). I still have a long way to go.

It’s funny, as I’ve got older, my panic weight has gone up. I am unsure whether it’s due to me adding muscle or whether I’ve merely become more tolerant of my flabby bits. When I was in my 20s, being over 10 stone (140) used to freak me out. In my early 30s, it was 10 and a half (147). Now it seems to be over 11 (154). I’d like to say it’s down to muscle but I know for a fact my waist is bigger.

Anyway, did circuits today, then some gymnastics tomfoolery and spent a good 20 minutes stretching. I really want to get that split now. I also realised I will never be able to do an L-sit on the ground because my arms are too short. I really am a T-Rex.

what is your goal weight and how do you plan on maintaining once you get there??

or is it even a weight for you or just a look? your always going to weigh more especially if you want to look diesel and add(more) muscle. why not just go by your waist measurement?

you are hardly ‘overweight,’ I’d freakin love to weigh 153 right now, damn. even 163!

I know that if I’m lifting heavy and the scale is not budging if I’ve lost inches then it’s all good. muscle weighing more than fat but taking up less space was always what kept me motivated.

It’s a look, since I don’t know how much (or little) I’d have to weigh to see evidence of abs. Abs is what I’m going for. Doesn’t have to be all six - four is good. But, I’ve never actually seen them, so as I said, I don’t know how much I’d have to lose to get there. I’ll just keep plugging away.

YAY! Good riddence to aunt flo! Even if its just a small respite.

And congrats on keeping weight down, even with the granola munching, etc. Clearly means you’ve been working hard at the gym.

And yeah, last training sesh was hellish! Awesome work. Doesn’t push/pull make you nauseous?! Makes me sick to my stomach :frowning:

WELL I gotta question, when was your avi pic taken?? Cause you look freakin’ awesome there.

Also, you’ve got a super strong bench press ! Way to go.

Avatar was taken June 2010. I was around 146-147lbs there. No abs though, and still had a fat arse.

You say that like its a bad thing. God, I just love a big fat ass on a woman. Nothing sexier, I tell ya!

HAHA well I would imagine being only 10lbs heavier than that you’d still look awesomely lean.

I have never been able to see my abs, even at my lowest weight. I don’t know how them figure athlete chicks do it. They get so lean and you can litterally see every muscle in their stomach perfectly defined.

Well, just to give you an idea. The avatar photo was taken on Day 1 of a two week pan-US coaster holiday. This photo was taken on the last day at Canada’s Wonderland. I did put on some weight but it wasn’t a lot and you can see absolutely zero stomach definition here. I can always pop some muscles in my back, even when I’m heavy, but never get much definition anywhere else (well, except calves). (Yes I’m wearing Crocs. Get over it).

haha! best line ever!

Funny what you say about the panic weight, I think I’m the same. Maybe we’re more aware of our bodies? Or maybe it gets harder to take the weight off?

Maybe some people are ‘back people’, and some people are ‘front people’.

Some people do nothing and have abs, some people work their arse off and have no visible abs at all whatsoever (me).

Maybe we’re both just back people, haha.

I don’t really know which I’d prefer though, having a super awesome back rocks.

If I was a back person my arse wouldn’t be so fat.

OK, so I felt pretty sore this morning. Actually I felt pretty sore yesterday morning (the trouble with full body workouts is full body DOMS) but wanted to do circuits so I sucked it up. But I knew I hadn’t pulled much since my 115kg triumph so I decided that was what I was going to do. This leads to a rather embarrassing story but I’ll come to that part in due course.

Free weights room was empty save for a guy I call Mr Burpee because burpees make up most of his workout. He does burpee step-ups, burpee pull-ups, burpee clean and press…you name it. So, after my usual warm-up I do a few burpees of my own.

Burpee Deadlift: 60kg x 10

And that’s enough burping for me.

Deadlift (Sumo):

70kg x 5
80kg x 5
90kg x 3
100kg x 1
110kg x 1

I wasn’t pushing the reps because I know my deadlift form gets ugly fast and being rather sore already, I didn’t want to push it. But I did want to try for a PB. So I bypassed the 115kg I did last time and went straight for my all-time, several years ago PB of 117.5kg. Firstly, because it would have been good to get back there. Secondly, because it’s not really much more than 115kg. Thirdly, because I knew if I tried for 115kg again and failed, it would make me feel bad, whereas failing at 117.5kg wouldn’t.

So I stuck 117.5kg on the bar, hunkered down and pulled. And pulled. And strained. I got it up to my knees but it wasn’t going up without a real fight. I was prepared to fight, until something happened that has never happened before. I peed. Wasn’t a whole lot but still, I couldn’t believe it. Not having birthed a child, I have never struggled with stress incontinence before and it took me off guard. Of course I dropped the weight. Thank FUCK I was wearing black yoga pants, not grey ones.

I suppose at that point I could have given it up and gone home but I wanted to train some more so I stuck my towel on the bench and did some pressing, hoping that it’d help dry me out a bit. Of course I benched Saturday so I wasn’t going as heavy today - just wanted to get some work in.

Bench:

Bar x 20
30kg x 10
40kg x 10
45kg x 8
50kg x 8

Oddly, I found the 50 almost easier than the 45. Maybe hand spacing was a bit better. Fairly happy with the 8 reps at 50 (110lbs) - I’ll try for 10 reps next time. Be nice to get back there.

Towel seemed to help, anyway.

Went into the main gym for the rest.

Supserset:

Close Grip Pulldown (V-handle): 50kg x 10
Decline push-ups (feet on pulldown bench) x 10
CGP: 55kg x 10
DPU: 10
CGP: 60kg x 5
DPU: 10

Straight Arm Pulldowns:

20kg x 10
25kg x 10

That was it for weights. I wanted to work on some gymnastic stuff so as the mats were relatively clear, that’s what I did. Handstand work first. Still hit or miss but I think they’re getting a bit more consistant.
Then cartwheels. I persuaded a gym instructor to video for me. He managed not to get all of the best one and the second one I landed clumsily but well, here it is. I’ve always said me doing gymnastics is like an elephant doing dressage. I wish I had Nadia’s elegant body and poise, but I do what I can with my ungainly body.

And here’s another he took right after. This is worse, actually. Beginning and middle not so bad but landing sucked.

Still, compare to one I did at the gymnastics class I went to back in March. I think I’ve definitely made some progress.

So I’ll keep working at those and one day I may even feel confident enough to demonstrate to my school kids.

After that I felt brave so decided to try rolling out of some handstands. I managed to tuck my head but I still slammed on to the mats pretty hard. Two of those and I’d had enough of that game. So I did some headstand (well one, but I held it a long time) then worked my splits.

Teaching my after school club this afternoon. Hope the buggers behave.

your accident reminds me of when I blew a whole the size of my fist in my pants and never realized my undies were hanging out… while squating in the middle of the gym. lol.

Cartwheels def look better - nice improvement.

Yeah, my log has been all about excreting lately. Sorry 'bout that.

Huge improvement on the cartwheels! I know nothing about gymnastics and even I could see a big difference.

Black yoga pants hide a multitude of problems.

I have seen a pic of Cal’s alleged fatass and its laughably unfat.

Cal there is NOTHING in your workout story post that didn’t crack me up! I LOL’d three separate times and I really needed it today so SANYOU.

Um, did you just post vids of you doing gymanstics in peepeepants?
