Hallowed - circuit class is not spin class. Spin is nearly always all ladies too (although some guys come).
There are hot guys in the weight room, they just never seem to be there the same time as me. Bear in mind I usually train first thing in the morning when not many peeps are there. Hot guys tend to come much later but I am so not an evening person.
Yeah that’s because only cRaZy people train in the morning!! I’m only kidding you, sort of ![]()
I’m a morning person, totally. Once I’m awake I have to get out of bed - I can’t lie in. But I’m rubbish at staying up late, too. I tried doing spin class a few times after work but now it’s dark, I can’t face it. This time of day I’m winding down and just want to relax before heading to bed.
Talking of which, I’ve been tired lately. I think it’s a combination of the dark and the fact it’s the arse-end of term. All the teachers are knackered. I went to bed at 9.30pm last night, slept 8 hours (although I did wake up to pee once - I always do without exception) which is more than usual and I was still tired all afternoon. I even took a 10 minute nap before netball club. Ugh.
Still, my girls did win their match (in dark and rainy conditions!) so I’m pleased with them for that.
On a completely different note, since I have no washing machine and no room for one, I get service washes done at the local launderette. Often, at least one pair of yoga pants comes back separately from its drawstring. Tonight it was FOUR pairs. I have zero fucking patience for rethreading drawstrings so this was extremely annoying. Does this happen to anyone else or are the ladies who do my laundry simply incompetent? (I always ask them to leave my duvet cover inside out because it’s easier to put on that way yet every fucking time it comes back the right way around. Grrr).

I would FUCKING RAGE if I had to restring four drawstrings! OMG. Heinosity.
Ima get all nuts and suggest you safetypin the ends together before you drop off next time.
Mornings…well I guess we have to have some differences, let’s not let it get between us.
Ah nightmare about the yoga pants, especially since you are feeling tired. That would probably send me over the edge. I’d say you’ll have to say something to them, surely they must know of a trick to handle that. Ms. H’s idea up there sounds good too.
Congrats on your girls! Must feel rewarding.
If not safety pins then just make any easy knot to keep the ends together.
I was a lazy fuck yesterday. I’d intended to go to the gym but I got sidetracked by a game. So I was going to make up for it today. Squats first, then circuit class. I’ve done that before - it makes the circuit class interesting - but it’s doable. Except it didn’t quite work out that way.
Warmed up my shit in the usual fashion.
Bar x 20
30kg x 20
40kg x 10 (not pushing it)
45kg x 7 (!)
So I get to 45kg which is not heavy for me - I’ve done 15 reps with it before but I got to 7 and felt, not dizzy exactly, but spacey. That not quite in the room feeling. Ugh. So I set the weight down, took a few breaths, but I didn’t feel right. So I waited with the intention of doing another set at the same weight, unracked the bar and I still didn’t feel right. Legs can easily handle it but some other part of me can’t. It’s not mental in this instance. I slept fine, rested yesterday, ate enough, am post-Flo, so I can’t really think of a root cause other than that I’m still not quite over that virus I had last month. Except I should be. I don’t know. Anyway, I abandonned squatting and fucked about with some gymnastics for a while (mostly handstands) before circuit class.
Circuit class was pretty good. Hot guy was there. I worked hard, sweated it up a storm and felt pretty good, aside from my achilles tendon which was having a good whinge. I’ve always had an issue with the right tendon - it comes and goes. It started bitching at me during the netball game on Thursday (I was refereeing so I was running up and down a lot).
After circuits I had a bit of a stretch and a bit of a natter about supplements with the hot guy (still don’t know his name) and then I decided I still had enough energy for a run. So I ran three miles around Tooting Common in my VFFs. Tendon did bitch a bit - I know I pronate a lot with that foot and when I make sure to land on the ball of the foot, not the outside (and yes, that’s the injured foot) the tendon doesn’t hurt as much. I’m still going to have to do something about it, though - ibuprofen etc.
The good news, though, is that the foot itself and toes didn’t hurt at all. Plus I felt like I could have run further. Stamina is still acceptable but I will have to keep an eye on that tendon. It’s always something, isn’t it?
Bath time.
Yeah, sometimes stuff just feels off! No biggie. And it could really be the result of so many things. Even something as innocuous as sodium, or something like that.
Gah! Who is this hot guy!!! And when are you asking him out?
I got my sights on two separate hotties at two separate gyms (clever Maschy, hee hee). They’re like day and night those two, but I swoon for them both…sigh. Alas, I think they’ve both friend-zoned me. HAHA! Ah well.
Its great that you’re getting some extra exercise during the workday. A little extra cardio never hurts. Good on you!
Maschy, how can you be in the friend zone with that awesome body? I bet those guys are having a few lusty thoughts about you.
I’m in a more, well, tricky situation. I’m in my mid-forties - I suspect hot guy is early 30s at most. Some guys don’t mind doing a bit of cougar hunting but others don’t find older ladies attractive or might even find it a bit creepy. So I’m not asking anyone out - if a guy is sufficiently intrigued then he’ll ask me.
Anyway, did a bit of digging around regarding the light-headedness. Could be I’m not breathing properly, although I was certainly making the effort to do so. Could be dehydration (since I train in the morning. I do have a couple of giant mugs of tea beforehand but of course I’m not drinking anything during the time I’m asleep). Could be low blood pressure. I just measured it now and it’s 118 over 75 which is pretty much optimal but this is evening - could be lower in the morning. I’ll check tomorrow if I remember.
Could the light headedness just be a result of low calories? I occasionally fade a bit during AM cardio. I just assumed it was a result of low cals and a fasted workout.

This. Masch I don’t think you’re in anyone’s friend zone.
No, Saturday was a piggy day, actually! I’ve not been actively dieting for a few weeks (in fact, I’ve put on weight. Bad Cal!)

Aw! You guys are great for my ego, you know that? lol!
But yeah, who knows! They keep talking to me, but never ask me out. And I’m with you Cal, if they’re not sufficiently intrigued to ask me out, then so be it. I’m not going to do it. So I’ll just keep lifting all earnest-like and continue to have socially awkward conversations in the meantime. HAH!
And shit, Cal! 44 ain’t THAT old. You’re too funny. Plus you look like you’re in your early 30s FFS!
Cal you’re hell apretty lawd! What you natting on about 44?
If hot guy doesn’t have a name you MUST give him a nickname. Its teh law.

Truth! Mine is “The sexy anesthesiologist.” I mean seriously! He’s a tall, built, blonde(!) anesthesiologist. He can’t be older than 28. He’s from Cali. UGH!!! He’s like a unicorn.
The other is Jason. That’s just his name. It suits him perfectly. Sigh.
Cal,
There is a fitness girl at my gym, she is 51 or 52, and she had a 29 yr old guy after her. Plenty of guys were chasing her, but she gave this guy the time of day, and happily dating (or it seems that way). Age ain’t shit, and if a guy has a problem with it, I doubt he is worth your time. I have dated women up to 9 yrs older than me (I was 19 and she was 28), it comes down to the confidence level of the guy. And that is something you cannot control. Let him ask you out, if not, he was too light to fight and too thin to win, know what I mean ?
guys are weird with how they won’t ask you out sometimes. there was a guy at my old gym i was kinda curious about… pretty sure he liked me but he never asked me out. then just before i left i asked him out lolz. it was pretty obvious that i kinda put myself in the friend zone doing that, though. or that he thought he was put in the friend zone for accepting the invitation. or whatever. weird shit. he never made a move. i dunno what is up with that. is it about confidence?
i kinda feel like they will ask you out if they are interested enough, too. only… i have started thinking that some guys really do seem interested enough. but they still won’t. what is up with guys???
kinda glad I don’t have to deal with that stuff.

hahahaha so awesome.
heya cal!!! missed ya. glad to see u’re still kickin’ ass! and now chasin’ booty. good luck!
On this topic of bois… Bois that want it come and get it. Period.
If he isn’t coming to get it… he doesn’t really want it. Of course the caveat is that its our responsibility to let him know the advances will be welcomed. This is why flirting was invented. Oh and also for fun of course. But smiling and flirtin should be enough. The rest is up to him.
Fin.
