I see a lot of chins in there Cal -nice work.[/quote]
Love it, I find straight leg deadlifts also helpful in this situation.

YOU BITCH!
You do chinups? fuck.
Here I’ve been telling myself all these pullup beezies are cray cray. I’m not built for pullups and according to HER neither is Cal. Aparently… you just go ahead and do them at will.
dammn.
Yeah, I have a lot of junk in the trunk and my right shoulder has been busted for 20 years. I can do a couple of chins (underhand) but struggle with the pull-ups. The most I’ve ever done is one using an overhand grip. But I do them when I remember to take a band to the gym for assistance. I have to use a shoulder-width grip because my rotator cuff gets gnarly if I try to go wider. We all have limitations but I just try to work around mine and do the best I can.
And you do it with such style. The training in here looks fabulous.
HAHAH! Frenchie!! Fucking hilarious!
That is an awesome training sesh you got in, Cal. Supersetting chins with other lifts, now THAT is boss. Great work!
And I’m so glad I’m not the only one who is often sidetracked by gym-hotties. Thank you, I feel better now.
I wonder how much truth there is to “i’m not built for [insert exercise]” I always say i’m not built for Pendlay Rows because of my short-ass legs…but then I wonder if i just don’t like them b/c they’re just uncomfortable, albeit definitely “doable”…i don’t know.

just think how awesome you are going to feel when you do one, hallowed!
great work cal. disappointed that skyrim isn’t mac

nice work on the chins, cal.

I did one. ONE.
NEVER AGAIN NEVER AGAIN!
really???
i worked my butt off on them for a couple years before i could do one ![]()
once you got one then you are pretty set for working that one until that one feels fairly easy.
then once it feels fairly easy you should just be able to eek out two…
and so on.
i like chin-ups because they make me feel like less of a skinny-fat ass!
and i’m gonna feel like a bass ass motherfucker when i get my goal of 3x5 with a 20kg plate mwah haha…
I don’t have Skyrim yet…waiting for it to get a little cheaper. Deus Ex Human Revolution will be my next purchase.
Anyway, sorry for the lack of training awesomeness - been busy with reports. I was planning to go on Tuesday but after writing reports for six hours straight I just wanted to sit on my fat arse, play games and eat bad things.
I’m currently very pleased/proud because my Year 4 and 5 (8-10 year old) girls won their first ever netball match against another school. Yay.
awesome on the win ![]()
That’s great news, you whipped them into shape!
Yeah Hallowed, I’ve worked on my chins twice in my life. First time I got to 2, then my shoulder started acting up again. This year I returned to do one again (& 15lbs heavier), but once I got one I got bored. Although they are a badass exercise to be able to just go for 10 straight. Maybe next year, maybe.
How goes UK Cal? Ur lil girls killin it at netball love it! I bet they’re adorbs!
Some of 'em are!
Pleased with the win - keeps the headmistress happy. And got the reports done (phew!)
I think I deserve a nice weekend now.
Going to get some training done amidst the telly watching and gaming. Also box of gourmet choccies arrived in the post. Going to be enjoying those for sure.
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. We don’t have that here so I tend to forget about it until I notice no one has posted anything for a day.

Ha ha! And Hallowed, I was totally going to call you out on doing a 130# lat pull down a while back but bit my tongue because I figured it was some remnant of the lat injury.
Hai Cal ![]()
Gym this morning. I felt I really needed to do some squats so I eschewed circuit class for the weights room. Between colds and report writing, I’ve done very little weights work during the past few weeks so I didn’t push it - I just wanted to reestablish the movement patterns and so forth.
Warm-up, blah blah blah…
Bar x 20
30kg x 10
40kg x 10
45kg x 10
50kg x 5
Weights felt heavy today but as I said, I’ve not done much squatting lately.
Bar x 5
30kg x 5
35kg x 5
40kg x 5
Thought I’d give these a try after watching Maschy’s vid. Unfortunately I can’t get low like she does - restrictions in my t-spine, hips and ankles come together in a perfect storm of shitty mobility. So I couldn’t put the bar on the safeties and had to settle for the lowest pin on the rack instead. Even so, I have to plant my feet wide to get under the bar. Got it done, though, and it does seem like quite a good exercise for me.
I was mindful of the fact I have an early circuit class tomorrow so didn’t want to thrash my legs any more. Did some handstand and headstand work instead and then home for a can of tuna and an apple.
Pretty low key, but I’m smarter than to rush straight back into things and hurt myself. Onwards and upwards.
Good work lady… I liked the Andersons too… except the retarded pain on my clavacle! I never front squat so it was a new place for the bar. I recently saw a crazy vid of a rather astonishingly unattractive woman doing some beastly “kneeling squats” yep just whhat it sounds like and they actually looked like an awesome glute/hip drive workout.
I’ve done kneeling squats but not in a rack so I didn’t use much weight. You’re right about the glute activation, though. Might try 'em in the rack now that you mention it.

I was thinking about this the other day. I decided to forgo my last set on something leggy because I had spin class the next day, but then on the way home I wondered if I should be doing that. Do you usually leave some in reserve, or did you just because you haven’t been in a bit? What’s your usual take on this?

For me it really depends on the activity and its intensity, as well as how earnest I want to be with it (earnest is my new way of saying how balls out I want to go - lol). If I’m playing a soccer game I won’t do any legs the day before, but if I’m doing spin, which I do get pretty earnest with (lol!) I will go all out the day before on a leg sesh. For me spin is a whole other animal than say, a circuit class that might incorporate resistance type work…I’m interested to hear what you other ladies think.
Yay! Congrats on the netball win! Nice job, coach ![]()
I’m glad you liked the Anderson’s - they’re fun, no? I didn’t go too low myself actually. Its a bit of an optical illusion due to my build (short, thick legs). But truth is you don’t have to go too low with those - the point is to fire up that starting strength and that can be done at any height really.
