I had to man, on average the under 25 crowd is bigger and stronger than their older brothers…o_O

I think the 405 bench made the bump more than necessary. Great job, man! Very impressive

Am I the only person being somewhat baffled by the lifts some of you are claiming? I mean reaallly… After reading the stats posted and checking the photo’s I’m pretty convinced that half of the posters claiming a bench of over 300lbs are lying… Either that or they are a lot stronger than they look.

I’ll throw one out there.
Age: 20 (turn 21 march 14th)
Weight: 230
Height: 5’11’’
BF: Don’t know, go by mirror, visible abs.

Bench Press: 315 x 5
Back Squat: 500 x 5 is best
Deadlift: 500 x 10 or 615
Incline Bench Press: 315 x 3-5

Here is my training log:

I would say some goals weight wise would be to hit 525 x 5 on squats, 315 x 10 on incline bench, and 585 x 5 on deadlift. Physique wise, I am looking at competing in a bodybuiding show next October, and would like to gain another 5-10 good pounds before then.

Maybe videos should be a requirement, I just got a pocket-camcorder so I’ll be keeping some vids as I bust through PRs post contest!

most of my lifts are filmed, I know most of embombs are filmed.

I am pretty sure I said something a year ago in this thread. I know I don’t post much anymore due to time, but here are some updates of where I am at:

Just turned 24 years old (almost too old for the thread). 5’10", going to weigh in at 198 for a deadlift comp this Saturday. I recently pulled 605 pretty easily so that will be my opener and have really wanted to get a 3x bw deadlift in the books for awhile.

Sadly, my squat is sitting around 500, and my bench has stalled due to me trying to stay lean and compete in the 198s. I am moving up to 220s for a full meet in March. I hope to hit a touch and go 405 before then as I am stuck at 375-385ish at my current weight. I am guessing I am at 9-10% when this light so I am anxious to move up.

I am the first to admit that I put a 405 bench goal before I turned 24 and I have not made that goal. However, I blew away my deadlift and met my squat goals. Hopefully adding some weight will get me over the bench hump soon.

And Austin, congrats. Yeah buddy.

Sigh. I’ll bite too. I need the extra what’s-it --“umph” to jump start my motivation, which has been in a rut lately.

Age: 19, as of about 2 months ago
Height: 5’8"-ish
Weight: ~187 lb
BF: >10% Some amount of ab definition present?
Time Training: Started lifting seriously last June or so (~17 months or so?)

Lifting Stats:
Squat: 405x1
Deadlift: 515x1
Bench: 275x1

Goals by 2011:
Squat: 455
Deadlift: 545
Bench: 315

To be honest, I’m rather disappointed with my progress as of late… and I know exactly what the problem is. NOT EATING ENOUGH NOT TRAINING HARD ENOUGH. I’m letting others dictate when I stop eating as opposed to pushing through. I’m giving up too easily in the middle of sets.

Fuck abs and fuck proportional strength.

Thanks for bumping this thread with your awesome 405 bench, austin (vid? Didn’t you hit that at an earlier time when you were holding more weight?). The ensuing conversation reminded me of what needed to be done.

Ajweins, thanks bro, and excellent dead lift and I am jealous of the squat…Good job bro.

Thanks and here is the video. Never hit this weight before, hit 385 when I was 260ish, just hopped on the sacle about an hour ago and was lighter than I thought (232 lbs).

I’ve put a lot of weight on my lifts during the time I dropped some excess body fat.

If you could maintain your strength/get it up more, and drop down to the 220’s or so you might be pretty competitive at some meets, could be fun.

Ya, nearly all of my lifts are filmed, and I usually film those that are PRs.

Age:20
Height:~5’10"
Weight:185lbs
Training Time:Started last August so…~1 year, 2 months
Bodyfat: No idea

Bench:275lbs
Deadlift:425lbs
Squat:315lbs

Goals:My goals aren’t currently on all out strength, i want to gain size and weight. Keep my rep ranges between 6-8 on most of my lifts. I still do try and get stronger of course because…strength=size with the right diet.

twenty five? shit son that was 10 years ago…

…fuck

As a 23 year old I am pretty disappointed with the original statement in this feed. Unfortunately I believe that its probably true. The skinny wuss look is in boys. I am 5 foot 8 180 lbs. I have gained 30 pounds of muscle since i started seriously lifting 2 years ago.

I went to the mall a few weeks ago to try on pants and my thighs wouldn’t fit into half the pants i tried on. I have a 32 inch waist which is pretty normal for my height. I got so pissed that I just left and didn’t get any pants. It sucked but I also thought it was awesome…I still don’t have new pants

I also recently went to an equinox in NYC and there wasn’t a big person there. Everyone was really skinny and toned. I mean its cool if u wanna be ripped but I think its cool to be so huge that you cant not be ripped. I understand the equinox is just a gym thats built for that kind of crowd but it was still disappointing.

Planning on a push/pull meet in March bro if all goes well, was considering the 242s and I would be a junior at 20 so I think I could do well. It’s a natty comp too which makes a difference, won’t have to go up against Eric Lilibridges and get crushed :). Kid is awesome.

Best of luck. My first meet is nov 20th. Cutting down to make the 181’s (USAPL Raw). If I hit all my 3rd lifts then I’ll get my elite total which would be pretty cool to do on the first try.

You too man. An elite total would be sick. Any link to a page that has what the elite totals are on it? Just wanted to guage what I need to do.

Don’t get me started on this crowd haha.
And another pants story. I’m about 5’11’’ 230, thighs measuring around 29 right now and waist fits into 33’s, let’s just say when I find a pair of jeans that work, I don’t buy another for a long time haha.

it’s all in kilos so you’ll have to convert if you need lbs, I just know that the 181 class = 1396 lbs. If I recall there is a PDF on the USAPL site that has them in lbs but I can’t seem to find it.

That chart is for geared lifters

181 lbs = 82.5 kg
1396 lbs /= 745 kg = 1639 lbs

I THINK the SPF’s are in line with most feds:

Plus you get to wear cheater knee wraps for skwatz in SPF…woo hooo
