It’s not just a bodybuilding thing.

At the MMA/BJJ gyms I train at, college kids come in all the time. I school them with not just technique, but strength and fitness. I am in my early 30s.

It used to be that “college kid” meant something. Talk to some old-timers in the gym. Guys who are 40 or so will say, “Man, when I was your age college kids would come in and just tear shit up. It took all of my wits to keep up with them” The college kids had less technique, but lots of energy and aggression.

I don’t see that much, anymore. It’s a detained group of people.

I don’t know if it’s the Nintendo generation, estrogen in the water, or what.

I even know that the Army has had to change Basic Training. The new recruit comes in so detained that they get stress fractures. Their little bones can’t even handle a road march. So Army training is much less demanding in years past. This, even though we are in a “war.”

I am not insulting everyone who is college aged. A generalization doesn’t mean it applies to everyone. If all of you posting are exceptions to the rule, that’s incredible. May you lead the next physical revolution.

In general, though, the younger generations are physically inferior.

Like LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Rafa Nadal, Dwayne Wade, I won’t even get started on some of the young football players. I’ve yet to see a better athlete than LeBron James, and that includes any generation…
Just got back in the gym 4 weeks ago and lifting serious for the first time in my life so my goals are pretty low compared to most of yall’s, but here we go:

Age: 23
Height: 5’10
Current Weight: 220-225
Skill Level: Beginner

Current Lifts
Bench - 245 x 1 (2 weeks ago)
Deadlift - 275 x 5
Squat - 255 x 4
Standing Mil. Press - 145 x 5

Short Term Goals (September 1)
Bench 275lbs
Deadlift 375
Squat 315
Standing Mil. Press 180
Weigh 205 lbs
Run a mile in under 8 minutes

Long Term Goals (2 years)
185 lbs with visible abs
Bench 365
Deadlift 500
Squat 455
Standing Mil. Press 225
Run a mile in under 7 minutes

Link to my log:

5 months in and reached all of my short term goals except my weight loss.

Deadlift went from 275x5 to 405x1. I did the 405 pretty easily after a hard workout. Going to go back and try for 425 in 2 weeks.
Bench went from 245 x 1 to 225 x 10
I have been doing seated shoulder press instead of standing mil. press, but my lift went from 145 x 5 to 185 x 9.

Starting serious weight loss phase next week after all my supplements get here. Gonna try to get down to around 205 - 210 over the next month.

I’m gonna predict once you hit 210 that’ll turn into “220-225 @ 8% BF”

Just a thought, same thing happened to me.

Haha yeah, it very well could. But I’m more focused on strength right now, so I’ll deny it!

Increased my incline bench by 60lbs since this original post as well. Hit 225x5 today on the incline after switching it to my first lift on chest days as suggested in a chest article I wrote on here. Also did decline dumbell presses for the first time today. Very awkward but I can feel it a hell of a lot more than I do with barbells.

BTW there were a whole bunch of people talking about the gains they expected in this thread when it started and not too many posting up what they’re doing

This was 5 months ago

Bench: 160X5 (lol the 185x1 bench was a bro effort to the max)
Front Squat:170X5X3

I’ve made a bunch of gains. 60 lbs added to my squat in 5 weeks, which allowed me to hit my previously mentioned squat goal. Deadlift went up 20 lbs recently (30 lbs since this thread started). Added reps to my >80% bench. My back has gotten substantially stronger as well. I’m focusing on bench and deadlift now.

How do people like that end up in t-cell alpha anyway?
I’m way late on this thread and pulling from the first page, sorry.
How can anyone not respect what this kid is trying to do here? G87, Live From The? Please explain.

Gotta say this thread is pretty pointless without videos…

Age- 22

Height- 5’9

Completely true, I didn’t even have to help with a lift off. The crazy thing was that he used a Geo instead of a barbell and plates.

I’m 22 if that helps add momentum to this thread.

lol.

honestly it’s not even really the videos that matters. it’s the fact that the majority of guys in this thread don’t even look like they work out unless they’ve got a size medium shirt on.

Yah, I think the funniest recent brag post I saw was this kid who said he was 6’ 200 lbs and claimed to have a 405 bench press. Right…

He also said his front squat max was 225, once again, no way you will be benching 405 pounds with a squat like that.

Those are the easiest lies to spot…

I just ask for videos cause everyone has all these great gains, some have crazy ass stats, but nobody backs it up…and like mac said, even a photo looking like you lift would be appreciated, cause most people don’t have one, there’s a big difference in typing I can bench 405 than proving/doing it…and unless you post up pictures looking like Waylander, nobody is believing somme of these crazy stats and this thread was about maing the under 25 crowd look good when it really looks worse now. But idc, cause I dobn’t give a shit about what people think and I can prove what I say anyways…

23
345 incline bench
515. and 495 for 5
if it matters, I did 3 chins with a combined weight of 315

I started training TBT style and my deadlift just flew up. I was getting 455 for a double maybe 4-5 weeks ago.

Btw austin, great music on your 317 for 6 video. Your spotters hot.
