Calling all Sydneysiders

Now we’ve established that there are some Sydney people on the board, does anyone know of anywhere I can get my hands on a power rack…? I don’t want “snatch chains” or “kinetic bars” or froo-froo cable pulldowns or any extraneous junk…all I’m looking for is the ‘cage’ with the safety bars, and maybe a chinning bar welded on the top. I’m looking to let my Gym membership go, and train from home, so I need to “squat safely”, as well as bench/deadlift/chin etc.
Thanks!

Cant help with locating a rack but can say that I trained at home for maybe 6 months and didnt like it. For all the hassle involved in gyms, they can be very good for motivation and give great value in terms of variety of equipment and space. Plus I respond to the discipline of going out to lift. Once or 4 times a week I wouldnt train at home again.

Radar, i’ve found the the best australian made brand to be CalGym…i think you can get their number from the yellowpages…i used it while training at uni…and it was pretty good and solid…but it didnt have a chining attachment…i dont like the other aussie brands like maxim …very flimsy…alternatively, you could order a power rack online from Atlantis equipment or Dave Tate’s site…another option is to look at the ironmind site…they have squat stands and support bars which would replicate the function of a power rack…for a chinning bar you could look for magnum fitness equipment (Australia)wall mounted chinning bars…they’re adjustable as well and have a number of different handles…hope this helps…

I’m not too sure about dropping the gym membership now…there’s a social aspect that I’m going to miss…and girls. Anyway, lets not cry about it…lets go shopping!
