I know a guy who’s 24 and reps 405 like 6 times. He gets 365 on incline. But I guess that doesnt count cause he’s a year late…lol
F’ dude. 405lb seems so impossible. I’d have to get 2 more plates either side of the bar within 3 years.
I haven’t really maxed on a bench press, because i think that without a spotter it’s a stupid idea.
I can do 3 plates a side on HS flat bench for 3 reps now. I think a 405lb bench would be like 6 plates a side, no?
Im 23 (24 in a few months) my bench is 360 and i only weigh 190 at 5’10. i dont think i’ll reach 405 but whos seeing me when it comes to weight/height/press
I have only ever seen 5 people bench 405 at my gym. 2 of which were at least 30, one guy, however, is a football player going on a scholarship to play d-1 ball, one is 17 and a nationally ranked 189 wrestler with the thickest neck I’ve ever seen, and the other is a freak of nature who broke all the freshman football lifting records at UT-Knoxville.
Besides those examples, most of the guys graduating high school in my area are weak as shit. A year ago three of our 4 starting linebackers could only bench 205. We had lineman benching 225… on a good day.

I’m assuming the football player at UT is Nick Revez or the Mclendon guy?

Ben Bartholomew, or at least I’ve been told by several people he holds the records. I don’t doubt it, I’ve seen the guy lift. He is a monster.

What are you at right now? A year ago, I would have though I never would have put up 300. But, The past 9 or so months, I lift exclusively in the 8-12 rep range and I managed to get to a ~300 bench without even really realizing it. Numbers are fine for some people, but personally, I just try to put up more weight than the last time.

do you mean you can do 300lbs for a single now, or for 8-12 reps?
if you mean for a single, what were you benching for 8-12 reps? around 240lbs?

I hit 365 2 months ago(at 19 years old)… I just turned 20, Ill max soon and see where I’m at.
Great lift man, if that’s legit you’ve got a good shot to hit 405 before 23. Would love to see a video of that or whatever you max at if it’s >365.
I’ve done 315 x 2 @ 20 years old. So 90 lbs in ~2 years (21 now) is a pretty damn good jump, but I’m rather determined to hit 4/5/6 by the time I graduate, when I’m 23.

Maxed for the first time in a couple of months… Been working with a professional powerlifter who ranks in the top 20 in the nation in the 242 weight class. Hit 405 smooth as fuck. I’m doing a meet at the end of this month, if everything goes well I hope to get 410-420 raw in the 198 class. There will definatly be video taken do not worry.

i’m 20 and i’ve benched 315…only 1 plate away, but i doubt i could hit 400+ in the next 3 years

I’m pretty busy usually when I get one here I dont have the time to post, just look at dumb shit people say on here or some enlightening things people say that make sense. Thanks for the comp though im definatly working my ass off to hopefully be at the top one day.
As for the video I promised in my post to have it. My meet is the 27th of this month if I dont have the video by then you can say whatever you want about me. I understand completely not beleiving something without seeing it. And obviously I’m not going to max again having just done it today and being 3 weeks away from comp.
Am I too late for this? I’m 20 and while I’m not to sure where my max is I would estimate at about 285. I will make 405 way before I’m 23 I promise you that.
Nailed 315 recently. Turned 21 a couple of months ago. I reckon i can nail 405 by 23…

All of these numbers don’t mean much. I want to see someone under the age of 23 bench press 405lbs even if it with a spotter. I swear I see NO ONE in the gym who can do this anymore even though we did it by the age of 22. I feel like evolution took a step back over the last 5-10 years.

Yeah, not sure where he gets that idea. There was a 16-17 year old kid who played football repping 315 lbs the other day on the bench. Was pretty impressive.
Likewise, there is wrestler back at school who is in his early twenties who reps 405.

I’ll tell you where he gets that idea.
It’s because none of the motherfucker on this site (including me) who are under 23 have yet to tag 405.
all we can come up with so far are promises and stories of ‘oh, one time, my dad knew this guy who had a barber who’s son i blew who once told me he benched 405’
this is me benchin 365 a while ago…cant remember how long ago…4 months? But I’m gonna b shooting for a 395 soon…probably within 6 weeks.
Age 19, BW 202.
If I cut out the muay thai I can probably get it faster…but I’m not solely focusing on benching 405…I’m still training my squat very hard so of course all this extra work takes away some.
Anyways I wanna do it before HolyMac hahaha jk man.
