So I’ve been adding more body weight exercises to my work out days and I’ve noticed some progress. I’ve become really interested in calisthenics and I’m considering building a routine around this.
I know I will probably get flamed just for asking but has anyone tried or know anyone that tried either of these programs:
Matt Marshalls Work Out From Home, http://www.thehomeworkoutplan.com/
or Eddie Lomax Work out with out weights, http://www.workout-without-weights.com/
I know they both look very sketchy, just curious if anyone has actually tried either of there so called programs?
I’ve never heard of those. I like calisthenics though, especially when mixed into a bigger circuit with a jump rope/kettlebell/sandbag/running/dumbbell. I’m trying to lose fat right now and I’ll do 3 of those workouts a week at varying intensities, with 2 lifting days. Its good recovery too at a lower intensity.
…crossfit and performance menu have a good library of exercise demos you can search through for ideas.
The other thing you can do is make parallete bars and do some gymnastics type training for core and balance work and these are great for handstand pushups. www.beastskills.com
…if you look around hard enough you can probably find enough exercise ideas and not have to buy the books. I would spend the money on a kettlebell, sandbag, or even just a dumbbell.
Also, don’t forget how effective a barbell is and I would make sure your routine includes some heavy lifting as well. This only applies if you are thinking about giving up the weights in favor of strictly bodyweight only training.
hahaha Yes that dance routine is exactly what I had in mind. Thanks for the links Theuofh, I will check them out. I never planned on buying those books, I’m sure all the information they contain can be found on the internet. Basically all they would do is clean it up and organize it into progressive routines.
But yeah I plan to mix in some body weight movements throughout my workout, with all the variations you can do for push ups alone you can target so many different upper body muscles.
