Calisthenics for 6 Months, Progress Slower Than What is Normal

Again, you’re stuck. No one cares about the past life of the forum.

Refer to above.

I’m impressed by how committed you have been to incorrectly calling out a stranger on the internet and then defending yourself by just repeating the same garbage over and over. I find it odd that you singled me out instead of @pfury, who actually made the first post to support your lunacy.

No answer is going to satisfy your pitiful rage about a stranger on the internet. I’m tall. I’m mostly legs. I follow Lee Boyce’s training. Does that help?

Nope. Gained 30+ lbs last year.

You’re confusing the meaning of my statements. Better yet, you’re interpreting them to fit your opinion. I’ve explained numerous times why I think pistol squats are worthless for me. If an exercise does not help me reach my goals then it has no place in my training. There are a lot of quality movements out there that I don’t do.

I choose not to do certain things because they hurt, the risk outweighs the reward, they don’t meet my needs, and yes, because I simply don’t like them. Those are choices, not excuses. Nowhere in this thread have I said I can’t do pistols. Not once. You can’t seem to differentiate between cant and won’t.

The reasons that I gave you for not doing them are pretty legitimate reasons that go well past general dislike. You can’t seem to understand that a person would use their training experience and injury history to determine what they do in the gym.

I don’t do them because they hurt.

I can’t do them because they hurt.

See the difference?

You seem to be all about hard work and doing things that are hard for the sake of them being hard. Good for you. Start a training log so we can all see how hardcore you are.

He doesn’t tend to do that after that time in PWI where he accused me of driving high all the time without knowing anything about me. He ghosted that one like he’ll ghost this one

I assumed you’d had an interaction once before. I’m rarely down in this section so I probably looked like fresh meat.

I find it odd that he’s mad that people didn’t tear me apart for what he thought was a lame excuse. It seems to bother him that people have started being helpful around here instead of just plain mean. The latter has its place, but we give people a chance for a bit before that side comes out.

You’ve said two or three times what T Nation “stands for” or what it “used to be about”. As someone who speaks with some semblance of voice for T Nation, I’m saying: you’re completely wrong.

Intelligent and relentless.

Trying to fit a square peg in a round hole is not intelligent. Telling a 6 and a half-foot tall person they have no reason to avoid pistol squats is not intelligent. Doing exercises simply because they’re difficult isn’t intelligent.

While you’ve certainly been relentless in defending your position, it’s misguided. The relentless pursuit of muscle involves efficiency and effectiveness, not simply attacking hard stuff for the sake of doing hard stuff. Guys with shoulder reconstruction shouldn’t be chasing a 405 bench or double-bodyweight dips even though they’re hard things to do. See Point 1 RE: intelligent.

Back in the day, the solution to your pulled back muscle wasn’t to simply ignore the problem and continue deadlifting as if nothing was wrong: https://t-nation.com/t/pulled-a-muscle-two-years-ago/146817

And at one point, you understood that mobility can actually vary from person to person due to a number of factors. Some of which include, and I’m quoting you here, “And how tall are you? How long are your forearms?”: Muscle Bound Test

This hardcore advocacy of pistols is a really weird hill to make a stand on. The fact that you have 7 or 8 people on the opposing side and no one supporting your side should be an indicator to man up (like the T in T Nation would suggest) and admit you made a mistake in singling out JMaier.

The community here is very different than when I first joined, but even then there was plenty of support for the genuine, no matter their level or training methods of choice. That was 5 years ago, and even back then it was unheard of for the undeserving to get ripped apart.

You’re right, that would be a weird hill to make a stand on. Again, the excuse, the dishonesty with oneself is the problem, not the exercise. I can keep re-iterating, it’s not that tiring and I have patience.

Last time I did pistol squats was 7/12/19. I’ve done a number of squat variations since then. That doesn’t sound like someone who is a hardcore advocate of pistol squats, does it? Or does it?

And are you working on the “side show” section? It seems more and more relevant and important the further we dig in here. With each post, you’re basically justifying the need for it more and more.

It’s the lack of objectivity, and this system where people won’t criticize their eFriends on TN. It’s the lack of being honest with each other, because, you know, “good guy” and buddies etc.

Isn’t a good friend someone who will be honest with you? No, we now prefer the coddling and propping each other up now, even if it means being a hypocrite and lacking personal integrity.

Thanks for bringing that one up, sure as fuck I wasn’t going to do the work to find that one…go ahead read it, everyone, read it. you will see the same sentiment I now bring, but from others previously.

What changed?

I’m here to rub Tnation into Tnations face.

And, again, his “excuses” were “I’m tall, have long femurs, and I’ve had surgery on my left hip and knee. I have less mobility in my left ankle from a fracture, too.”

You’re hyperfocused on the femur thing and disregarding the injuries and mobility issues. Only an ignorant (meant literally, not offensively) trainer would suggest pistols to someone with that history of lower body problems.

You standing alone and unsupported arguing against multiple people who share the opposing point of view. Yep.

Do 'ya really think that’s gonna go well? Really?

If you participated in other sub forums then you’d see that we actually do this. I’ve been a part of great dialogue with people where we’ve gone back and forth, and I’ve learned something from it. But that’s dialogue and discussion; your approach is different.

The places I frequent the most around here have everything. When a troll stops by and starts talking nonsense, they get grief for it. I’m pretty sure this very thread is an example of that if you can ignore this weird side bar you’ve created.

The Training Logs section has a lot of what you desire. We post our sessions, our plans, ask for advice. We get to know one another well enough to ask questions. People have pointed out flaws in my training and made me really think about what I’m doing. I’ve done it to others. It’s called constructive criticism. But randomly yelling at a stranger and saying “look how stupid this guy is” is far from constructive. It’s childish.

Still avoiding my question I see.

I’ve straight up told @Frank_C to stop doing certain stuff in the past year as he dealt with injuries and criticized his training, as he’s done to mine. The best part about this is if you read his log, the entire evolution of his training has been centered, especially recently, around exercise selection and learning what does or doesn’t work for him. It’s actually been really cool to watch. This thread was fun too, until this guy came and douched it all up.

If you can bring me answer to the questions I’ve asked, then we can talk. Until then there’s no value in me answering this.

Have a good day.

Would you agree that, when it comes to training, people are free to do whatever they want?

I’m enjoying it. It’s better than selling myself short. It’s a regret, of people near death, to not speak their mind. So here I am, bringing my observations and thoughts to light. I’m not here to sell anything. Making the point is all I’m after, what happens after, meh.

Let’s stick a wrench in this moving machine and see what happens. No repercussions.

If I had to guess based off of deduction . Less than flip and probably in your zip code.

As long as people are honest and ADMIT that that is why they are doing it.

So what’s your follow up?

There’s no value in me answering your question because you’re not competing against me.

The value in knowing your barbell squat is to know exactly how effecting these bad ass macho pistol squats are
